    Passionfruit and guava malasadas
    Niraja S.

Loved the interesting flavors! Service is instant, and there's plenty of benches outside to sit at.

Plain, mango cream, and Cocoa Chantilly. Mango cream was really all cream and a little bit of mango.

This is the third time I came to this place when I visited the island and I wish I could say that I was impressed. Unfortunately, the Malasadas are not traditional Portuguese Malasadas. They are much more like a traditional doughnut with filling. I got the chocolate in Chantilly and truly there was maybe a half a teaspoon of Chantilly on top. I think I was expecting it to be like Cocoa puffs from Leha bakery on Oahu. the service was fine. We went pretty early around 6:30 in the morning because my daughter really wanted to try them so we were in and out pretty quickly.

Got four flavors to try... it was hard to choose the top favorite but I think Ube holds that spot in our hearts. Lilikoi comes to a close second...so tasty. We also tried guava and regular cream malasadas; although they're good, they are nowhere near the other flavors. The outside is a bit soggy though...i think thats because they're premade and have been sitting there for a while. I'm also spoiled and had my regular malasadas with cinnamon sugar coating...these ones dont have them (if you get the filled malasadas) so that takes off 1 star.

Came in specifically for the malasadas and they were absolutely superb! We got the flight to take back to our hale and it was awesome to be able to try them all. We even mixes some of the custards...so onz! We came early in the AM during a small kine "Kona low" so we were already on a mission. My reason for dropping 1star was I was in the mood and ready to buy an overpriced latte and they told me they didn't have coffee. I said "what?!" Looking at the delicious coffee menu.... "Our water isn't working right now" So I was super bummed on missing out on a coconut latte but given it's a bakery the pastries were exactly what I was looking for. But otherwise happy to support local.

7.5/10 - guava malasada: 7/10 - plain malasada: 8/10 an employee recommended the guava malasada but it kinda disappointed :( the guava filling tasted very artificial the plain malasada was solid! wouldn't say it's the best i've ever had but if it was hot & fresh maybe it would've been

Kauai Bakery ended up being one of our favorite stops on the island. The malasadas were good, not great, but the real stars were the different manapua, absolutely excellent and full of flavor. This was one of the few places we liked enough to visit more than once during our trip, which says a lot. Definitely worth a stop.

The malasadas earned five stars. We split three--coconut, mango, and coconut. They were all delicious, and the ube was the best. Service was quick and standoffish. A simple "good morning," "thank you," or "you're welcome" goes a long way. And if not, how about something besides a frown? The place was easily accessible and clean. Five star experienced reduced to four thanks to cold service.

Kaua'i Bakery is a must-visit if you love malasadas--or even if you've never tried one before! Their malasadas are unbelievably good: light, fluffy, perfectly fried, and filled with just the right amount of sweetness. Each one tastes fresh and made with real care. The staff is warm and welcoming, and they do a great job keeping the line moving while still giving helpful recommendations. It's the kind of local spot that instantly makes you feel at home. If you're on Kaua'i, don't miss the chance to try their malasadas. They're easily some of the best on the island, and we'll definitely be coming back for more!

    Ube malasada

Tried the savory pork pastry--nothing in the first couple of bites, but eventually hit about 2 oz of filling toward the center. The ube malasada was generously filled and definitely lived up to the hype--can see why it's a popular pick. Friendly service, casual takeout spot located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. Quick and easy stop for a sweet (or savory) treat.

Was in the Kauai Area and wanted to try out some baked malasadas, and Kauai Bakery looked to be the best option nearby that we could try out! We stopped by on a Tuesday around 8:30AM and got our pick of malasadas to try out! Kauai Bakery is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of ample parking, making it very easy to stop by and grab some delicious pastries. Service is like your typical bakery, you pick what you would like and they get it to you so you can stuff your face immediately after purchase. Ambiance is cozy with plenty of pastries to pick from in the large display case. We got 4 flavors of Malasadas for $16, which is $4 per doughnut, which I think is a decent price for the size and heft. The flavors we sampled were Lilikoi, Coconut, and Guava - out of these flavors, the coconut one was my personal favorite! The flavor was exactly what I would want anything coconut cream flavor should taste, creamy texture with a pleasant coconut taste that didn't taste artificial at all. It captured the floral background taste that is missing from a lot of coconut desserts that makes coconut so pleasing to eat! The Lilikoi one was my next favorite, it had a slight tartness and a more subtly pronounced flavor - I think I was looking for something stronger personally. Lastly was the guava one, which actually tasted a bit artificial and didn't have a pronounced flavor at all, which was unfortunate. Despite this critique, I would still glady inhale 2 or 3 of them because the dough was really pillowy and really enjoyable to eat. I think that the pastries here (at least the malasadas) are very solid and priced competitively vs most things here on Kauai. I would totally come back to get several more of the malasadas as well as try the other pastry options on the menu. Stop by and give this bakery a try if you are in the area!

Assorted Malasadas: Mango, Guava, Liliko'i, Ube, and Haupia.

Wanted to have my brother and sister-in-law try Malasadas as this was their first time in Hawaii. Recommended by the locals, so hubby and I woke up bright and early to arrive when they opened. It is located in a mall, so plenty of parking. The smell of freshly baked dough will lead you to the bakery. By far, the best Malasadas compared to the ones I've tasted in the Oahu, Big Island, and Maui!! The dough was very light and fluffy. Warm. We ordered an assortment of flavors: Mango, Guava, Liliko'i, Ube, and Haupia. Filling was just right!! Ube was my favorite. So good!!

Amazing bakery that has all of my favorite baked goods and beyond! I saved this stop for last as it's pretty close to the airport and was able to take some home with me. It is a very unassuming store front located inside a mall, however upon entering you are greeted with a wonderful variety of treats and a very pretty purple aesthetic. The staff here are also so nice. With so many options, I really wanted them all but unfortunately had to limit myself so I selected the following: * Kalua pork BBQ Manapua * Guava malasada * Ube malasada * Ube bread pudding * Mac nut latte w/almond milk 100% amazing and the bread pudding made it through the flight and was spectacular warmed up. Prices here are pretty fair and my total for all that goodness was around $27 (with tip). Highly recommend!

Yum, yum! This was our first stop after landing in Lihue for a work trip. Located inside of a shopping plaza, this bakery was packed with yummy treats like malasadas, manapuas and other delights. I ordered at a dessert case and the service was swift and friendly. The shop is small but decorated cute with their signature purple lei logo. I had the lilikoi malasada and Portuguese sausage manapua. Everything was fresh and delicious! Can't wait to come back someday if I'm back on island.

It's incredible and the most delicious homemade Filipino bun ever! My kids were also incredulous of how wonderful it tasted. My hubby got the breakfast plate that had sausages and rice. He loved it. Also got the chicken tinola and pork adobo on a second visit and more pan de sal! The shopkeepers are so nice and friendly. It's a pleasure supporting this local small business. It will definitely be a place we'll return to over and over again during future visit to Kauai! Highly recommend! There were many locals who came too! The lovely owner grandma said they've changed the name of the restaurant, because she's handed it down to her son and he'll run the business. I should've got a dozen. This place is a small Filipino bakery and turo-turo joint on Rice Street in Lihue in between Rob's Good Times Grill and the bowling alley. The Tita that helped us was friendly and I was going to get a bag of their homemade chicharon but decided against it. She laughed when I changed my mind. They have some vegetables for sale scattered about the small retail space out front. But the main draw is their baked goods and their hot food to-go. I saw everything from biko (sticky rice dessert), musubis, empanadas, suman (sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf) for baked and packaged goods. Then they had pancit, dinuguan, fried fish and pork adobo. There were several other offerings that I cannot recall. Pan de sal was 3 for $1 or a dozen for $4. Gotta get the dozen. Parking is in the share lot right out front or street parking along Rice if the plaza is packed.
