Got four flavors to try... it was hard to choose the top favorite but I think Ube holds that spot in our hearts. Lilikoi comes to a close second...so tasty. We also tried guava and regular cream malasadas; although they're good, they are nowhere near the other flavors. The outside is a bit soggy though...i think thats because they're premade and have been sitting there for a while. I'm also spoiled and had my regular malasadas with cinnamon sugar coating...these ones dont have them (if you get the filled malasadas) so that takes off 1 star.

Came in specifically for the malasadas and they were absolutely superb! We got the flight to take back to our hale and it was awesome to be able to try them all. We even mixes some of the custards...so onz! We came early in the AM during a small kine "Kona low" so we were already on a mission. My reason for dropping 1star was I was in the mood and ready to buy an overpriced latte and they told me they didn't have coffee. I said "what?!" Looking at the delicious coffee menu.... "Our water isn't working right now" So I was super bummed on missing out on a coconut latte but given it's a bakery the pastries were exactly what I was looking for. But otherwise happy to support local.

7.5/10 - guava malasada: 7/10 - plain malasada: 8/10 an employee recommended the guava malasada but it kinda disappointed :( the guava filling tasted very artificial the plain malasada was solid! wouldn't say it's the best i've ever had but if it was hot & fresh maybe it would've been

The malasadas earned five stars. We split three--coconut, mango, and coconut. They were all delicious, and the ube was the best. Service was quick and standoffish. A simple "good morning," "thank you," or "you're welcome" goes a long way. And if not, how about something besides a frown? The place was easily accessible and clean. Five star experienced reduced to four thanks to cold service.

Kaua'i Bakery is a must-visit if you love malasadas--or even if you've never tried one before! Their malasadas are unbelievably good: light, fluffy, perfectly fried, and filled with just the right amount of sweetness. Each one tastes fresh and made with real care. The staff is warm and welcoming, and they do a great job keeping the line moving while still giving helpful recommendations. It's the kind of local spot that instantly makes you feel at home. If you're on Kaua'i, don't miss the chance to try their malasadas. They're easily some of the best on the island, and we'll definitely be coming back for more!

Tried the savory pork pastry--nothing in the first couple of bites, but eventually hit about 2 oz of filling toward the center. The ube malasada was generously filled and definitely lived up to the hype--can see why it's a popular pick. Friendly service, casual takeout spot located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. Quick and easy stop for a sweet (or savory) treat.

Wanted to have my brother and sister-in-law try Malasadas as this was their first time in Hawaii. Recommended by the locals, so hubby and I woke up bright and early to arrive when they opened. It is located in a mall, so plenty of parking. The smell of freshly baked dough will lead you to the bakery. By far, the best Malasadas compared to the ones I've tasted in the Oahu, Big Island, and Maui!! The dough was very light and fluffy. Warm. We ordered an assortment of flavors: Mango, Guava, Liliko'i, Ube, and Haupia. Filling was just right!! Ube was my favorite. So good!!

Amazing bakery that has all of my favorite baked goods and beyond! I saved this stop for last as it's pretty close to the airport and was able to take some home with me. It is a very unassuming store front located inside a mall, however upon entering you are greeted with a wonderful variety of treats and a very pretty purple aesthetic. The staff here are also so nice. With so many options, I really wanted them all but unfortunately had to limit myself so I selected the following: * Kalua pork BBQ Manapua * Guava malasada * Ube malasada * Ube bread pudding * Mac nut latte w/almond milk 100% amazing and the bread pudding made it through the flight and was spectacular warmed up. Prices here are pretty fair and my total for all that goodness was around $27 (with tip). Highly recommend!

Yum, yum! This was our first stop after landing in Lihue for a work trip. Located inside of a shopping plaza, this bakery was packed with yummy treats like malasadas, manapuas and other delights. I ordered at a dessert case and the service was swift and friendly. The shop is small but decorated cute with their signature purple lei logo. I had the lilikoi malasada and Portuguese sausage manapua. Everything was fresh and delicious! Can't wait to come back someday if I'm back on island.

Stopped by in the morning to grab some masaladas for breakfast. We ordered the ube, guava, and lilikoi masaladas. We also got a kalua pork bbq bun. The good: lots of filling! Our favorite was the ube one. The other flavors were more subtle. The only downside was the donut itself wasn't very flavorful. The bbq bun was also a bit underwhelming. Staff were friendly and service was quick and efficient. This bakery is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. There's also plenty of tables outside for you to enjoy your baked goodies.

We went early in the morning and snagged a few malasadas! Highly recommend if you're on the island.

If you're looking for a super yummy island pastry treat, look no further! The team was friendly, the service was fast and the bakery was super cute. Affordable and tasty!

In the 19th century, Portuguese laborers brought this amazing pastry to Hawaii, malasadas! It's a fried dough with filling inside, and Kauai Bakery is THE spot to try them. They have both sweet and savory options. In fact, the variety of options was crazy! I wish I came with a whole group to try more! We got the local pork, the guava, and the Ube. The dough was extremely pillowy and the pastry itself was STUFFED with filling. It's not like a jelly donut, she was PACKED! The pork was so good and the guava was soooo fresh and bright. The service was amazing, they were really nice folks. They offered to heat up the pork one which was kind. I 13/10 recommend!! Please stop by and try a pastry for sure! They have coffee options as well :)

The banana flavor is a syrup and it reminds me of the banana candies. The matcha wasn't too milky. The bagel sandwich lacked flavor for me. It turned out great. The NCL cruise ship was in town at the nearby Lihue, Kauai dock, so was expecting a lot of people around at this ice cream shoppe at the nearby Harbor Mall. There was only one hustling worker behind the counter, and she was trying her best to keep up, while maintaining her cool. Being in line for a bit, gave me time to study the menu, and I landed on ordering a S'mores Sundae ($11.75), described as 4 piece Graham crackers, 2 scoops of Macadamia ice cream, marshmallows (roasted) + Hot Fudge. After my order, she immediately to make it. What I really appreciated was that she put plenty of small marshmallows on top, and then used a small blow torch to roast the tops. My wife and I shared it, and we both agreed that it tasted like a freshly made Smores, but with really good ice cream added to it. It was delicious. The ice cream, thankfully, was worth crossing state lines for. My kids predictably ordered something bright blue - Cookie Monster and another flavor that could only have been invented by either a six-year-old or a marketing genius. Whoever came up with those flavors is probably laughing all the way to the bank. I went with mint chocolate chip and toasted coconut topped with hot fudge, and it was absolutely fantastic. Rich, creamy, and exactly what vacation ice cream should be. The only reason this isn't five stars was the service. Let's just say the welcome felt a little more "Who sent you?" than "Aloha." Maybe we accidentally wandered into a locals-only witness protection program. Hard to say. Still, the ice cream was so good I'd happily endure another soul-piercing stare for a second scoop.
