I was confused as to why Yelp was recommending a place I had already reviewed... but I guess Sunrise Coffee & Sunrise Donuts are separate entities? The place I went to was outside, on the side of the road, not inside a structure, so I guess I posted in the wrong place. Anyway, this was my experience, & it was really disappointing... & I had no time to say anything about it in person, because I was on a time limit & busy running errands that day. Here's the thing... I'd been following them on IG for AWHILE, so the interest was built up enough to want to give them a try, & because I was headed that direction anyway, I figured, "why not?"... However, I don't know if the girl (the light skinned brunette with the big smile that's in a lot of their IG content) was just having a bad day & ready to leave work or what - it was dead when I got there, except for the small family at the table - but this was one of the WORST smoothies I've ever had! Consistency & flavor wise... like when you expect something, because it's in the name & you don't get that at all? Really weird. I don't make a habit of just leaving negative reviews, but my reviews generally ARE very thorough & well rounded - but it doesn't necessarily make me look forward to any future quality from them, if this is what I got from this place; a super watery "smoothie" that didn't taste like strawberry AT. ALL. Considering it's got that pink color, you would expect a certain flavor, right? NOPE... & I literally sat in my car for a minute before driving off, taking a couple sips, just to make SURE I was getting the TASTE right. All I could come to conclusions about flavor-wise, was what tasted strongly of vanilla protein powder - that was the prominent flavor ie obvious "top note" at least - & nut milk... & I've had enough drinks & SMOOTHIES with vanilla protein powder, to know the flavor is consistent among most protein powder brands. Not even a HINT of strawberry flavor. Strange. Bummer. They were already out of donuts before 10AM, so I can't even counter this with, "well, at least the donuts were awesome"... I came for one thing initially - donuts - & what I DID end up getting, didn't even make the mark. Not sure I will be back, but ladies, for future reference; a SMOOTHIE should be a THICK consistency, NOT runny, like water. I'm guessing there was more ice to product ratio, thus the COLD LIQUID DRINK that I got & what I paid for it, was just NOT it. read more

Found this gem via Yelp of course! Look how cute this place is - you can even get to say "hi" to some of the local friends. Oh and they have a resident cat!!! Stopped by for some mid-day caffeine and to my surprise they had something that I never knew I needed in my life - a macadamia nut latte with macadamia nut milk! It was super tasty - just the perfect amount of sweetness. I don't like overly sweet drinks but this was perfect. So many different flavors to choose from! Really you can get anything that you want. They even sell jewelry made locally. I ended up buying some for my nieces and they loved them. The puka shells are from Kauai! Definitely check this place out when you can! This is a cute coffee stand right on the side of the road! My friend and I got the mac nut latte with oat milk and the coconut latte with coconut milk. The mac nut latte was decent but the coconut latte was sour i usually get my lattes with oat milk but decided to try coconut milk because that's what was recommended. Just landed in Kauai and needed some caffeine for a long day ahead. After hearing so many recommendations, I stopped by Sunrise Coffee, and I'm glad I did. They're open early, which was exactly what I needed after an early flight. The staff was incredibly friendly, and there's convenient parking right next to the shop. They also have covered outdoor seating, which is perfect if you get caught in one of Kauai's quick rain showers. Sunrise coffee is a cute spot to grab coffee that seems to offer seasonal drinks. We stopped here for coffee first thing after getting off the plane, and were so excited after seeing the menu. Unfortunately, when we got there, the person running the front was talking to a previous customer, so we ended up waiting a while to place our orders. When we received our drinks, they were so pretty! However, the drinks did not taste as good as they looked. The coffee was burnt and the matcha was so so sweet. We actually weren't able to finish the drinks. It might have been an off day, so I'll definitely try again next time I'm here to see. Also, there's a super cute cat here!! read more

We stopped at this little coffee place on our way to Waimea Canyon. It's ticked away along a main road and set up in a food truck. There were picnic tables set up throughout the property so there was ample seating for those who wanted to sit and enjoy their food and drinks. There was only one person working there, but she did an awesome job taking and preparing orders. She was also so sweet and friendly! We ordered four drinks and an açaí bowl. My son works at a coffee house in CA and he gave thumbs up for everything we ordered. Definitely go and support this little business when you're in Lihue or just passing through! read more

Loved the variety of options at this little food truck tucked away off the highway. The coffee is a darker roast if that's your vibe. Finding a golden milk latte was a good way to start my day! Sunrise Coffee in Lihue, Kauai, quickly became my favorite coffee spot during our trip to the island. The experience was delightful from start to finish. Friendly Atmosphere: The staff were incredibly welcoming. I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, who was so nice. When she asked why we were visiting, I mentioned it was my birthday, and she surprised me by writing "Happy Birthday" on my cup. Delicious Drinks: My favorite was the vanilla macadamia nut iced latte made with macadamia nut milk. My husband, who isn't a coffee drinker, enjoyed a smoothie recommended by the owner, which they developed during Covid. On another visit, he tried the POG juice, which was also fantastic. Charming Environment: The area is beautiful, and the truck itself is adorable. I regret not trying any of the food because it all looked delicious, as did their variety of coffee creations. Memorable Merchandise: I couldn't resist getting some merchandise featuring Rosie the cat, who was sweet and added to the charm. If you're visiting Kauai, Sunrise Coffee is a must-visit. This place is definitely my top three coffee stops on the island. The menu is extensive and there's really nothing you can think of that's not on there. Luckily, we were there in September so we got to try their seasonal fall beverages. They have my fave macadamia nut milk instead of regular milk so that's always a treat. I spent the last two years thinking about their avocado toast. And I'm happy to report a taste just as good as it did. It's very generous on the avocado and the seasoning really makes it. The girls in the truck are super nice. Very helpful at explaining the different options and helping you decide which drink to choose. Location is off a busy road and at a curve so keep an eye out or you'll miss it. Cute little coffee trailer with good amount of parking and outside sitting area if you order food and wanna eat or enjoy coffee there. Service was nice but nothing over the top. Iced Caramel vanilla latte and lilikoi match were both tasty and perfect balance of sweetness. Now the price... a little bit crazy, 2 drinks $18 and some change. It's a vibe with the cute coffee truck and the smell of fresh donuts as you pull up. Parking available in front. They have tons of creative drinks whether you are a coffee or tea kinda girly. I like that they offer seasonal creations as well. One of my faves is the Dubai love- pistachio latte, I do oatmilk but they have regular, heavy cream, almond etc. and a 16oz is under $7. My friend gets their signature macadamia latte that's made with macadamia milk. Oh and did I mention the yummy açaí bowl? To the side of the road going to Lihue side. I always get excited to try new coffee, so when I saw they had a s'mores flavor I knew I had to get it. Anyway, we arrived in the morning, had no line no customers waiting. So I stood at the order window. The ladies saw me, but didn't acknowledge or anything. I was ready to give my order, but waited for like 5 mins for them to actually come to the window to take my order. When we finally got our order, the açaí bowl was filled. My daughter really enjoyed the bowl she couldn't finish it. She liked how it didn't have nuts too. The s'mores coffee was eh :/ Wasn't iced enough, not sweet, & mainly milky. I couldn't taste the s'mores flavor at all. It was pricey, spent about $28 for just two items. Service wasn't good. So if I had to come back, it would be for the açaí bowl mainly. read more

The macadamia nut milk vanilla matcha I had was very good! Not too sweet and the flavors were lovely. We also decided to get a churro donut. Unfortunately, it was not a hit. The dough was quite dense and dry- not really a donut. My girlfriend also said she didn't like it. We know they fry their donuts in coconut oil and we're quite open-minded when it comes to healthy foods and how they taste but this was just too dry. Stopped by here because the reviews looked good. Unfortunately our coffee was not good. I got an iced creamy coconut and it didn't even taste like coffee. The iced coconut latte tasted sour, nothing like coconut, and majority of my drink was ice. My husband got a hot latte and it tasted like warm milk. The service also wasn't great the lady wasn't friendly and before we could order she said she was trying to only take cash today. We thought that was kind of weird as that was the first place on Kauai anyone told us that. It is a cute spot but the service and the coffee were not good. For the price there's much better coffee spots in Kauai definitely recommend skipping here to try somewhere else. read more

We found this place and it was so busy so just a warning it can take a bit for your food as there could be one girl working hard to get everyone's order. We got açaí bowls, avocado toast, dirty chai , and a salted caramel latte. Honestly these were yummy. The coffee by itself was alright with salted caramel flavor but it wasn't the most sweet if that is something you care about. The shot in the chai though was a perfect balance. No greeting, smiling, thank you, or even calling out that your food and drinks are ready. I felt like the person taking my order was completely annoyed by my mere presence. The couple behind me had to repeat their order because this same person wasn't paying attention - she was listening to her co-workers talk about how sloshed they got over the weekend. No patrons hung out at the shop after they ordered. I'm guessing, they like us, were turned off by the rudeness, and left. Kauai has a lot of cutesy coffee shops. Yum! This place is batting it out of the park with great customer service, cute truck and seating area, and then the main reason we came was for coffee! The donuts that they had just made was the icing on the cake! First off the coffee selection is huge with lots of different flavors and combinations! They even had a pumpkin pie spice drink that was delicious! The woman working the day we stopped by was super sweet and explained things nicely.
