In the small world category - this Starbucks is extremely close to several other venues (Los Altos Golf & Country Club, Los Altos United Methodist Church) that I noticed as we drove by, but didn't realize were all neighbors. Some kind of serendipity! This is an old-school walk-in Starbucks; no room for drive-thru here. There's seating indoors, but it's very pleasant to sit outside in the front of their space, under the overhang of the shopping plaza's facade. Dear Hubby and I were headed back home after a visit to San Francisco and were in need of a cold beverage fix. Once you're on the 280 you don't really see options from the freeway, so have to use Yelp or Maps to find places to stop that aren't too far once you exit. This Starbucks is not directly adjacent, but is a short drive off Magdalena Avenue to Foothill Expressway. We got to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine partially managed by the roofline so that it wasn't beating down on us on a warm day. The friendly staff made our drink speedily so that we had time to savor that break for a little while before saddling up to get back on the road. The Rancho Shopping Center has a comfortable vibe and free parking. Took me back to the era of the 70's / 80's when this style of plaza was very popular. read more

It's been a while since I visited, when did it stop providing coffee sleeves when serving the hot coffee? The cup is hot and most other places I visited all put the sleeves on before giving to the customers. I have to call out the unacceptable service. An Asian woman ask for the sleeve, was told to go to the counter by the door where the napkins are located to get her own sleeve! It's not a long distance but not short either when holding a hot beverage! When a few other white/Indian man ask for the sleeves, the server grab it and provided and did not ask the man to go get it by the door???!!! The sleeve is literally next to the coffee machine and does not even need to turn to get it and provide to the customers but yet the unequal treatment is not acceptable. This unequal treatment coming from an Asian server????? We teach our children in school, every company has been providing training on workforce equality, diversity, treat everyone with respect, and not be a bystander. It's a shame to see this type of behavior still happening. Everyone must do your own share to call out every situation if we ever expect things to get better for the next generations. read more

Located right at Rancho Shopping Center just minutes away from my home is this nice location. The staff is nice, kind and top notch. The shift manager Kiana is just super nice and helpful. Let me give you an example. I kept getting this weird sign in for Starbucks and zero locations could explain this. Then I took it into Kiana and within seconds she knew what it was. She said, Joey this is the main site that initially people go to..when they are signing in for the first time. All this time some people in the other stores thought it might of been a virus. This Starbucks location has the best customer service in the Los Altos area. There are a few Starbucks around the Loyola neighborhood that take online ordering. For some reason, this is the only one that can really make it work. Without going into too much detail, the downtown location makes you wait forever, as your drink just sits there. Same problem with the Fremont Ave S'vale store. This location has easy parking, quick in and out, and they're friendlier. What I like most is the convenience. If you order ahead, you don't have to wait when you get there. As simple as it sounds, the other locations haven't figured that out yet. And the Starbucks inside the two Safeways? For some reason, you can pay with the app, but you just can't order ahead. Hmm, go figure. And I didn't want to get too attached to this Starbucks. Really, I didn't. It's a big corporate store. And there are more specialty coffee shops if you're willing to drive downtown and deal with partking (like Redberry). But the drinks here are convenient and still pretty good. I love the pike place roast. Consistent, served hot. A great boost for getting in gear on a chilly morning. And the cold brew, so smooth, a summer favorite during the pandemic. Our sweet tooth likes the new matcha with oatmilk concoctions. Two pumps, light ice. Unfortunately, they run out of oat milk alot, for a few days at a time. Cmon, they're in a strip mall with a supermarket. Plenty of oatmilk in there. But I guess it doesn't work that way. And the kids seem to like all manner of fraps. Coming home from the first soccer game of the year, or celebrating a negative covid test, any excuse to order one on the app on the way home. Quick order when a few minutes away, and grab the drinks, and we're on our way. It goes without saying the pastries still suck. Plenty of places downtown, or even the Andronicos next door. This Starbucks is one of the best coffee shops to go for a refresher and wake-up drink. My family and I would always stop by after a long walk. We would always get the yummy refreshing drink (Dragonfruit) and two yummy "pappuccino" for our lovely dogs. My family and I come here because the employees are amiable and have excellent hospitality. They always respectfully greet us and would always make their customers feel welcome. Shout out to Hau, Johnny, Zachary, and other lovely employees. I wish I can name them all. They're great at doing their safety measures, especially COVID protocols. They always make sure each person who enters the building has their mask on; if not, they will kick you out. Just kidding, they will provide you a comfortable mask at no cost unless other customers give a little donation to help the city. This is the white privilege Starbucks - the kind that bends over backwards for tanned white guys in polo shirts driving BMW 6-series convertibles. Ordered a drink and was probably the fourth person waiting for my drink to come out. Old polo shirt tanned white guy buys a drink at the cashier while I'm waiting, immediately chats with the barista and then the barista hands the drink being made and the old white guy even had the balls to comment to the barista that he only bought a small but the barista made him a venti. I then pipe up why I haven't gotten my drink yet and the barista said he assumed it was for the other guy. Don't be fooled by the pseudo-progressive areas like Los Altos. There's a reason why Donald Trump comes out to the Los Altos Hills to fundraise. This is the Starbuck's his donors must go to. I'm going to buy from Philz or Verve from now on and skip this Starbucks staffed by the grandkids of these donors. read more

The service today was abysmal, the service is a usually below average, but today was bad. I had four drinks and when I asked for a better way to carry it, I was ignored. I have been to Starbucks throughout the country, and have several I regularly go to, depending on where I am. I have been coming to this location for almost a year now, and honestly, it is the worst I have been to. Guests are constantly waiting for their orders for long periods of time, leaving frustrated and/or rushed. The restroom floor is commonly wet, like the toilet is leaking. Finally, their accuracy is very low. My orders are wrong more than they are right, and people are often waiting for a replacement, correcting an order, or leaving with the wrong order along with an eyeroll. Even with 4-5 staff, these problems are still consistent. I hope management can help retrain their staff to bring this location up to par with other branches. read more

I love the Starbucks here at Rancho San Antonio by Los Altos. The staff is very friendly and the baristas do know how to make their drinks! Tons of people I know come here for the convenience, although I know they come here too because of the ambiance and the feeling of "good vibes." There is especially a pre-lunch coffee rush at about 11 AM, and the line can be a bit long. 2. They have stools at the bar so you can watch them making drinks. I like to come with a book and just read and entertain myself watching the odd drink orders the employees fulfill. I made an afternoon of watching barista abuse...Sorry guys, I truly feel badly for you! 3. This Starbucks has the feel of a neighborhood store. While Starbucks, as a huge conglomerate, lacks obvious individuality. Unlike some other Yelpers, I happen to think this location does pretty well! Most of the employees are pretty friendly, especially if you are nice and understanding. They are often overwhelmed with long lines and do not have enough partners to meet corporate's high service expectations. It seems like the store manager is dedicated to her career and very knowledgeable about different coffees. She even recommended a blend on the Clover that was delicious (a little pricey though!). I also especially enjoy the foam toppings on my blended handcrafted beverages here! Wow! They do a great job! Like others said, this location is pretty crowded most of the day. The employees that are there are friendly and welcoming, but there are not enough of them, so they end up with a CRAZY LONG LINE. If they had another employee or two, it would more than pay for itself in the increased volume they could do. I'm sure that they lose more than the $20/hr. in business that it would cost to have another employee. Make a more pleasant environment for customers and employees, and more money for the business. I was having a bothersom day from my unhappy, lecture-happy unappreciative supervisors this afternoon. My cure? Well more like a pick me up but so worth it. I always order a grande white moca frappucino with soy, two pump of white moca and two shots espresso blended of course to spread that good ol Joe in every sip. A half empty Starbucks meant perfect timing for me, I must've missed the lunch line, it being around 1:30 The baristas were a lil busy I could tell they were training a newbie since they were explained king procedures and running around. Once I was promptly helped l ordered my usual but this just being a new store. One thing that stood out the most was the worker asking if I wanted whip cream since I odered a soy based drink which I really appreciated since I always forget to request mine without whip. I like this location for the setting - nice tables outside, especially on a sunny afternoon, to enjoy your drink. I know bad experiences occur once in awhile, but until I had one myself, I'm giving them four stars-:). I get the same drink most of the time, and it's pretty hard to mess up decaf tall cappuccino with whole milk, especially if you do a mobile order, where it's all neatly written up there. But then again, it may not be a whole milk after all, I probably wouldn't know if they used 2%, right? Anyways, they are usually not that busy on a Sunday afternoon, so I can't attest to their promptness and friendliness in the rush hour. We like to seat outside and chat with other patrons.
