FOOD: Ceremony had a good supply of bagels and pastries to choose from. Their homemade bagels were tall and fluffy and the chipotle schmear was spicy and fresh. No skimping out here! My bagel was chock full of chipotle deliciousness. For pastries, we tried their beautiful Chocolate Babka which was FILLED with chocolate. The cinnamon roll was with a cream cheese frosting (my personal favorite choice for cinnamon rolls) with orange zest to finish. DRINKS: Along with your standard coffee drinks here (coffee, latte, cappuccino etc) they also had several specialties such as a Rose mocha, fennel maple latte, and Carmel cream nitro cold brew. I tried the cappuccino and the Carmel cream nitro. When it comes to espresso based drinks. I tend to be pretty picky but both the quality of coffee was excellent and the "pull" of espresso was great as well. The owners of Ceremony also own Cerberus coffee so it's roasted locally. SERVICE: Normally when there's a new business, I try to be generous in my reviews knowing they may need to work out kinks but the team functioned like a well-oiled machine. Even with consistent flow of customers coming through the door, they were efficient and quick with the drinks and there was hardly a wait. All the employees were friendly and warm and the owners were also present and take clear pride in their business. SEATING: the building is pretty generous in size so it's quite roomy. Right now there is primarily smaller tables and chairs which works perfectly- but the owners told us they're going to add a bench seating all along one of the walls which I think will help pull the area together well and I look forward to that addition

While I was at the counter ordering, it lunged, barking furiously at a customer. Later when I got up to get flatware, it lunged at me the same way but hit my hand; luckily it didn't get its teeth into me. When I mention the cafe would be liable if the dog bit someone, the staff person was unconcerned and said there was a muzzle for the dog, but not on it then. It is a small, intimate space where we were greeted with a big smile by the hostess and our waiter came by soon after we were seated. It was a chilly walk around the corner so I was looking for a hot coffee to warm me up. Having never been here before I opted for the special of the day, which was something with lavender in it, and I was surprised at the delicate way the latte both supported the robust coffee flavor and the delicate lavender addition. It was better than I anticipated and I knew that we had stumbled upon a gem of a spot that emphasized quality of what they serve. Now, for breakfast, I love a good gravy but I am always disappointed by my order. The country gravy is usually too thin, to bland, too chunky with some sort of meat product, and too small of quantity to really enjoy a good biscuit with it. With this skepticism in mind, I ordered the "The Works" assuming at the very least, the addition of fried eggs and ham were good enough to eat on its own when the gravy, which I also assume will disappoint me, runs dry. I apologize for my assumptions, ButterCloud Bakery, because I was served a thick, seasoned, peppery gravy and plenty of it. This is actually the best gravy I have ever ordered from a restaurant, if I was not traveling, I might have bought a few sides of this delicious concoction and brought it home for the next several mornings! Nothing skimpy on my plate. My husband ordered the beef and blue and devoured every last bite. I managed to steal a few bites off his plate and was pleasantly surprised, I did not expect to like it as much as I did. I stole a few more bites when he was in the bathroom! We left very satisfied with our meal, our drinks, and our service. Fast forward a few months later and we are traveling with my parents to California and we insisted that we stopped by ButterCloud Bakery to share our gem of a find. My mom considers herself quite the cook and she also was skeptical of the gravy. One bite and her eyes popped...she was also impressed. This time round I had the scone and gravy and enjoyed every last bite. My mom tried a specialty hot chocolate and I, again, had the latte special of the day, both were rich with flavor. Our second round at ButterCloud Bakery did not disappoint and we have decided it will be our go-to spot when we are in the area, there is still a lot of menu items to try!
