First time here (visiting from out of town) and found this for my morning fix of Starbucks. Service is very good and the baristas seem friendly. This is the worst location ever, I pee'd on myself because the worker said I couldn't use the bathroom b/c I wasn't buy anything. I haven't drink starbucks since I became pregnant and I'm currently 5 months and can't hold my bladder and also now I have to travel back to the other side of town on public transportation to change my clothes. read more

Got here about 6 min before opening. They open right at 6am. Fast efficient. Loved the location! They obviously have their regulars.

Visited this location for the first time this week and went twice while doing different activities downtown. Tried a Java mint Frappuccino, then a frozen mango dragon fruit lemonade. My drinks were fine, but me friend ordered a passion fruit lemonade that just seemed to be straight lemonade without any fruit chunks in it. The line as also a bit slow the one day and some of the employees seemed to be standing around and joking behind the counter. The girl who made my drink though did apologize for the wait, sometimes it's just one of those days or perhaps she was recently trained. Overall it was an average experience and the store was decently clean. I was able to leave a couple of my art business cards on the board, love when places have those available to advertise local things. The view is also nice with big glass windows overlooking beautiful Heinz Hall. read more

Been here on several occasions as I have a parking permit in the garage right above Starbucks. Baristas are always friendly and service is typically pretty quick. There have been some times when I've gone and the line is out the door, but for the most part it's quick service in and out. read more

I was in the area and needed a latte really bad. I was near the Starbucks so I stopped in quickly. There was no line and the Baristas were very friendly and gave great service. I ordered a venti latte with an extra shot. The drink was made perfectly. The store is descent size and has a descent amount of seating. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. If not crowded I would definitely go to this location again if in the area. read more

There's not enough words to describe how much I love this starbucks. It's more than just a coffee shop, it's a place to go where you feel seen, and heard, and cared for by the baristas and staff. Unfortunately, this location is often understaffed but that is not the fault of the baristas and they work hard to get the drinks out as quickly as possible. Additionally, I've witnessed several accounts of customers getting entitled and out of hand, however the staff at 6th street handles each incident with grace and tact. I've been to countless Starbucks sites - even some of the Reserves, and I can say confidently that the 6th Avenue Starbucks in Downtown Pittsburgh is my favorite. The location is great and the drinks and the baked goods are above average in quality from what I've experienced with other Starbucks. What really makes this one special, however, is the staff / baristas. Everyone who I've interacted with is so pleasant and provide a customer-first experience. The only issue I see is when there are shows at Heinz Hall. I don't try to go to Starbucks at that time because the lines get crazy... and it's all being managed by 1 - 3 employees! Could definitely use more folks on the ground during busy hours. read more

I had some time to kill before the doors opened for Something Rotten. Was in the mood for some coffee so I stopped here briefly. All Starbucks are virtually the same. I noticed that you can preorder through an app on your phone. In addition to their expressos, lattes, teas, coffee and iced drinks they have grab and go food and various pastries for sale. I asked for the Verona blend which I knew was the Valentine blend but they were closing so I ended up with Pike's peak. They do have the Verona blend for sale. This Starbucks has a very small seating area. Fortunately since the place was closing soon there really wasn't a line so I got my coffee and sat and relaxed. I normally get the small size which is just enough for me. It tastes like regular coffee and it warmed me up on a chilly night. This Starbucks is around the corner from the Benedum Center. They close at 6:30 so it is not a place to hang out before an evening performance. Still it met my needs and was quite pleased with my visit. read more

We frequent this Starbucks location out of convenience, but I often question that convenience when you're standing in the long line waiting (that's to be expected in such a location during the workweek, or anytime really, in the Cultural District). The drinks comes up relatively fast, though, and the staff is really nice, so the line isn't as bad as it could be. It's not the nicest or cleanest location, but if you're walking by and want your Starbucks fix, it'll definitely suffice. read more

I travel, alot, so I visit many Starbucks' locations around the Americas. I would place this location at or near the top of my experiences for product quality and STAFF consideration of their customer's desires. I ordered a "pour over" of a specific roast during the stores peak time, when I asked about the flavor, I was told they could not locate their pour over pot and had instead used a different process (a clover brewer) to make my cup. When I described the flavor as considerably different than my daily experience, the manager went out her way to replace my cup with a drink of my choice. Great Job PIT team! read more

I don't do coffee but they have good smoothies and coffee cake! My wife got me hooked on their "Cranberry Bliss" bars that they only have during Christmas time. Their pound cakes are yummy as well. Worst Starbucks I've ever been to. Waited 15 mins for food and it still wasn't out. Coffee was getting cold so I just left. The person in front of me didn't get her food either. They were all the coffee orders and allow the food items to back up until the line is zero. Bad system. read more

Had a good experience here. The staff was friendly and happy to help me understand all of the different styles of coffees. I am usually a straight up no cream or sugar guy. I got a cold brew with vanilla and sweet cream. It was very good. Not sure I will switch my daily routine but it is a nice treat every once in a while. Wifi, a/c and coffee. This location is pretty good. The service is usually good, and they move at a relatively quick pace. Still the same mediocre Starbucks coffee, so I usually opt for a latte (with vanilla soy to mask the coffee), or one of the new Teavana teas such as the Kona Pop (pineapple), Youthberry (blueberry), or the Peach Tranquility. All in all, this location is better than some, and I definitely stop by when I am in the area and need a little pick-me-up. read more

I stopped here before a show at the Benedum on Sunday and was glad I got here early. I had wanted to get a more adult beverage but we decided on legal stimulants here instead. Within minutes, there were barely any seats left between those who were here before we arrived and fellow Alton-goers (I assume) who came in after. It's what you expect at a Starbucks. We got their regular Pike Place roast. The service was what you'd expect as well; nothing groundbreaking or special. The counter could have been a little cleaner, but the seating area was free of debris, so I guess that's what really matters. Also, the lights on the menu boards were hitting in that particular way that washes out the text and makes it hard to read. Good thing you have a pretty good idea of what you want when you walk into a Starbucks! Service was efficient, environment was nice, there weren't any weird things happening in any corners. So, win? But oooh their pumpkin Spice Latte is so friggin' yummy. And their holiday drinks are to die for. I happen to love this Starbucks. I've worked downtown for 2 years now, and this is definitely my favorite location to visit. First of all, it's super convenient (for me anyway), I pass it everyday on my way to and from work. It's smaller inside than a lot of other Starbucks', but I'll gladly cram into this store to avoid going to the others. The staff here is always incredibly friendly and helpful. I know, but it's walking distance to my downtown business destination and has the most efficient morning coffee line I have ever experienced anywhere! It not only moves super fast, but the staff are asking you what you want far before you even reach the pastry fridge. And.. by the time you get up to the register, they still remember what you got! None of that, "uhh umm".. stuff while trying to recall and then reiterate the Starbucks format and language again under cloudy eyes and "morning brain" that does not turn on prior to java.. The people are so friendly here, especially in the morning. Everyone is so friendly and nice. There is only one person who I've ever had an issue with. Anyways, I ordered a grande coffee with a little peppermint syrup. I understand that they are trained to give the customer exactly what they want, but I normally just order it and am out the door. This guy is obnoxious...he proceeds to ask me how many pumps of syrup I want and it's like a ridiculous 2 minute conversation. I say, "I don't really care, it's whatever is easiest for you." Meanwhile there are like 10 people behind me and it's starting to look like a scene. I am a really laid-back customer, it was embarrassing! Like how am I supposed to know how many of whatever they put in? I don't stand in line and count. He says "Well it does matter. It matters how sweet you want it" and goes on in this schpill about how he can make it. Like, it's 7 o'clock in the morning. I don't care. Just give me the damn coffee and let me go.
