Really up and down when it comes to service. I own a business in the same shopping center and frequent this establishment sometimes more than once a day, as does my staff, and the difference between the lovely morning staff and the overwhelmed, rude afternoon staff is like night and day. We get it, it's busy in the afternoon. It's not an excuse for the attitude given to customers. Example, today I watched my mobile order drink be placed on the counter, out of reach. I politely asked the gentleman if it was mine (gave my name), he looked at it and said no. After waiting another nearly ten minutes (mind you, most people waiting for mobile orders have somewhere to be - baristas are not the only humans working), I asked a young lady if my order was coming up soon. The response was a loud, rude "I'm doing the best I can!". When she finally asked my name after huffing under her breath at me, she determined that the drink I had asked about ten minutes prior WAS my drink, but we were waiting for my food. My "food" was a string cheese. Which had been placed in someone else's bag and unless we were waiting on a cow out back, just needed to be located when I politely asked about my overdue order. Instead, she found it and flung it across the counter at me. I'm still waiting for my apology - for the unnecessary wait after my beverage was made, the mistaken "food" order, and the unnecessary attitude. It's worth noting that the manager here has also been the manager at the Bayport location, which also suffers greatly in quality customer service. Go in the morning. The staff is wonderful, remembers your name, says hello thank you have a great day. Do not go in the afternoon if you don't want to deal with children who can't handle the pressure of making coffee. You put out half filled orders and then get frustrated that customers aren't sure if they have their full order or not. Put the order out when completed. This Starbucks is only good for sit in. Personally, since Covid, Curbside is my go to. I try to avoid going in public places as much as possible. If you are trying for mobile/curbside pickup; this isn't the location. I usually get my cold drinks soggy because they are always understaffed- they will make your drink, then sit on them to help walk ins first. The last 3 times I ordered here; I waited over 10 minutes past the pickup time outside in curbside. . I would end up just walking in and asking for my drink (which is always soggy) & they stated, "I'm sorry we didn't see it." But after the 3rd time, it seems they just don't want to be bothered with it. We were stopping here hoping to start our road trip off with coffee, but the store was swamped and unfortunately the baristas couldn't keep up. We waited 40 minutes for the last item in our order (a sandwich) and ended up leaving without it. Several times we watched people order in line, receive their full order, and leave, despite having ordered after us. I understand that being swamped and the chaotic nature of the Starbucks ticket system is NOT the barista's fault and I want to make it clear that I do not blame them for that. However, there were several times (around the 25 minute mark) that I very politely asked the baristas about my order and they were extremely rude. I ended up going back to the cashier and apologized for being a pain but explained to her how long we had been waiting. She was nicer and I was told they were putting it in and I would have it shortly but then I proceeded to wait another 20 minutes. We had to get back on the road because we had already lost so much time, and when my uncle went to tell them that, they responded quite rudely with - "We're backed up. If you want a refund, go to the till." I will say that despite the rudeness, both my uncle and I agreed the coffee was exceptionally delicious, which earned them a second star. read more

This Starbucks is in a fairly good location, it wasn't too busy either. I went around 5PM to take a study break with my best friend. We both order different hot chocolates, I got the Salted Caramel Flavor and he got the Snickerdoodle flavor. The drinks were delicious, made efficiently and the staff was very nice and talkative. I like going to this Starbucks! Everyone is super nice that works here and you can always see a friendly face. I come here a lot, so my orders vary every time I'm here. The only reason for 4 stars is because of the wait time: even if I'm the only person in line, it always seems to take more than 5 minutes for my coffee or whatever I ordered. Then if it's busy, it takes even longer. Maybe the baristas here are just care-takers? Who knows. But don't expect speed! Not in a bad way, that's just how they do things here read more

This is my favorite location because of the staff and the patrons. Most of the students from SUNY Stonybrook medical school come here to do their work and it's great to have that youthful energy resonating throughout the building. I spend so many hours in the place...It's a great place to meet really interesting people and get lots of work done. The fireplace is cozy in the winter months and the music makes for a very alluring backdrop. Can't give this place enough praises. I had my iPhone stolen from this location back in January, but I keep coming back (I believe it was total fluke, as it couldn't possibly have been one of the usual people as we all leave our things unattended simply due to mutual trust and respect). read more

The crowd (younger) is mostly people from the University they are a good group of people never an issue and actually quieter than others I have been in also seating is limited due to the grounds and the people that move in. Due to the fact they are in a strip mall have observed some with food from the other places - pizza, Chinese, etc if that smell could bother you sit accordingly. Very soothing environment. Recommended for studying. However, thurs/fri/sat night - it's noisy. Very clean, big windows with sunshades, mock fireplace,and comfy sofa seats around it. Bathroom is ok - it's usable. Alot of Stonybrook U students come and study here. The drinks here are pretty consistent. I love mocha frap - and no problems with it at all. I visited this Starbucks today as I had some time to kill before I needed to pick somebody up and I had planned on getting Starbucks later on anyway. This is one of the cleaner Starbucks I've been in as sometimes they can become quite dirty with the constant flow of people passing through. It wasn't that busy when I went in at around 3 PM and only had to wait a minute or two for my drink. The staff were very friendly and made my drink perfectly. In my experience Starbucks are pretty standard, but what differentiates them are location and service. This Starbucks is located in a shopping complex, which is convenient for people looking for groceries or running errands. On the other hand, this location struggles with service. My friends and I visited this establishment to order an iconic 'Pokemon Go Frappucino', which had been advertised by the company. When we placed our order, the staff replied with "We have no idea what that is," and a quip about how people keep ordering this 'fake' drink. The tone and confidence of the staffer's response is what bugged me, since we had been courteous and curious the entire time. When we showed them a picture of the drink via the Internet, they suddenly had an epiphany and made it quickly. The drink itself contains blackberries and raspberries, and is pretty refreshing. This Starbucks will put all of your other Starbucks experiences to shame! The staff here are incredibly friendly, very happy to chat and get to know you, and make superb recommendations. When you think of Starbucks one of the first things that come to mind is customer service, as is typical with any Seattle-based company, and this store exemplifies caring for the customer. Having moved away I ALWAYS make it a point to stop by this Starbucks when I visit because it feels like home. Additional perks, this is one of the cleanest Starbucks stores you'll come across. I once ordered a large cappicino, think it was around 5 bucks, waited for 15 min, and then I got my coffee less than half filled with cappicino and foam 1/3 way filled to the top. I didn't see that they filled 60% of the cup with foam, it's hard to notice at first glance. but were they purposely trying to cheat me out of product. look, 3/7 foam to coffee ratio I would say is acceptable. Anything more than that is an indication of douchebaggery and/or being too quick. I understand the baristas have a hard job, but quality matters as much as speed. They're not fast either. The only thing they make fast is the coffee that is already premade because all they have to do is pump it out. And new baristas alert: highly inexperienced coffee makers taking a long-ass time to make your coffee, so you will have to wait a while. Waited 15 min the other day for a Java Chip frappicino because the new guys just spill shit on the floor repeatedly and have to re-make the coffee multiple times. And sure there's ambience.
