I come here not too often, but when I do, it's usually not busy and quite calm. Drinks come quickly, but they call your name; it's a little quiet, and I would suggest waiting by the wall rather than sitting down by the windows to hear your name. This is a cozy little neighborhood Starbucks, tucked into the history village part of Sierra Madre. Nowadays, Dear Hubby and I often like to visit drive-thru Starbucks venues if we're on the road, or some of the remodeled versions with more elbow room if we want to hang out for a while. That being said, some of the older versions, like this one, have a comfortable vibe / chill atmosphere. We've been here several times, inevitably gravitating here when strolling around the surrounding area. We last stopped in a couple months ago after spending the night in Ontario and slowly wending our way home. We ended up getting pedicures at a nearby salon, and then relaxing with frappuccinos afterward. The cleanliness condition of the restroom can be hit or miss, as with a public option that gets lots of use. The rest of the store seemed to be reasonably clean. I live right around the corner from this Starbucks. We come here pretty often. The employees are nice EXCEPT for today when I went with my kids who were a little excited and were a little loud. I tried to tell them to calm down. There was a Starbucks employee who said she was a supervisor standing in line behind us for the bathroom. She was rude and basically tried to tell my kids to be quiet and they aren't allowed to be loud in her store bc they need to hear people give their orders. Usually the employees there and at all the Starbucks I've been to are really nice and patient with us. But her? She was rude and out of line. I was telling my kids to use lower voices when she butted in and tried to parenty kids. She was a red head with multiple piercings. You are rude and you need to get off your high horse. Depends on who's working at this location. There are about half emoloyees who are good, and half that don't know how to operate properly, who also act like they're entitled and not polite. They appear to be young 20 year old who act like they're important. Management here really needs to learn and train people properly and get rid of them if they can't do their job properly. This location has become a haven for the homeless. An older woman arrives before 6:00 am and sits at the largest table (herself) for up to 12 hours, and the staff says nothing. There is also a similar unkempt woman who looks dirty who does the same thing in the afternoon/evening hours. The outside tables and chairs are falling apart, and there is, on average, one chair for each table because so many of them have been tossed due to being unsafe and in poor condition. The managers (Jonathan and Frank) don't care about engaging with the community and seem unaware of the conditions. I addressed my concerns to a regional manager, Daina, who politely replied but took no action. With five other coffee options available in the community, one would think that Starbucks would want to stand out. I guess that they do, but not for good reasons. read more

BEWARE OF MISSING CHANGE! I went to Starbucks and ordered two grande frappes, paying with a $20 bill. When I received my change, it was only $2.50, which seemed too little. Additionally, I didn't get a receipt. No matter how many times I give Starbucks a chance to regain my loyalty they always screw It up. I use to spend more in a month on coffee and other items at Starbucks than most do on their house payments. Yet, they only notice customers like me after they nose dive and file for bankruptcy, and honestly even then they rarely give two-cents about you like most corporate giants who forget that they were once a small business with a dream. One of my favorite locations. Customer service is always top notch and the convenience of mobile order pick up at this location is amazing. They usually have the order ready even prior to the estimated time. I usually visit this location in the mornings which can be hit and miss with the crowds depending on the time you come. 7 am or before no line or minimal but 7:05 to 8 can could lead to a long wait (15 minutes max including the wait for the beverage). As far as a Starbucks goes this one is especially good because it is right across from Kersting Ct in the small village center of bustling and quaint Sierra Madre. And this Starbucks is officially the most visited business in town. All the coffee and food is the same... and in fact, the interior is one of the smaller ones and the tables are always full. But what makes this so special is the outdoor area, which is European style, right on the wide sidewalk. Most Starbucks have their outside seating adjacent to the parking lot of a mall. I came here to study and it's a beautiful day so I'm studying outside. Their Wi-Fi reaches their outdoor seating perfectly. I ordered an ice cream tea, light ice, no sweetener, no water; this is basically the strongest form green tea that you can get from here FYI. Their staff was very polite and efficient. I've not once had an issue with any employee here before today. I walked out with a cold (supposed to be "roasted") Tomato and Mozzarella sandwich because the guy who took my payment couldn't be bothered and had the WORST attitude. He definitely always looks upset when he's working, but I've not had an encounter with him before today. First, no greeting whatsoever. He looks at me expectant. Not asking me what I would like to order or anything. So I spoke up and ordered my iced tea and he scanned my sandwich and handed it back to me. Then completely walked away. For what seems to be a very standard franchise, this Starbucks is more quant and neighborhood oriented. The baristas are always spot on with their creations, orders are always correct and efficient. The location is one of the smaller Starbucks, but you usually know someone in line, so rubbing elbows isn't so bad. Nice seating area outside, as well as indoor seating which is always hard to get a spot during the busy hours of the day. First time here because I dropped my car off for service down the road, and the service is exceptional !! I first stopped by to get coffee and a snack for the person working on my car.
