I don't visit any Starbucks locations often. Coffees get pricey. The Takoma Park location was awesome. The staff was upbeat and nice. I think experiences are based on the time of day and who was working. Some Yelpers had disappointing visits. I arrived around 10am on a weekday. It was busy. The barista who took my order helped me decide what to choose. The barista (probably the manager) who made my drink was great. I had the dragon fruit summer drink. The coconut made the flavor excellent. My cup was topped off with the leftovers that didn't fit (until I sipped). Yum. This is a wonderful treat and not something I would drink all the time. I adored not being rushed out of the location. Several people had laptops and lingered as well. There is wasted space that could be filled with tables and chairs, but I think it is intentional. The store is across the street from Busboys and Poets (and about two blocks from metro). read more

I come into Starbucks all the time. I live up the street and it's great coffee, spacious, and friendly folks. Today I went in and I really needed to use the restroom before I partaked in my usual cup of Buh-lack only tall cup. The young Buh-lack man who I can only describe as a washed up slightly disfrayed bruh version of The Beard [OKC] refused me service. I said I had come in there all of the time and partake. This Starbucks has a tiny lot that it shares with two other businesses. I was able to secure a spot early in the morning to buy my pooch his food. I rewarded myself afterwards here. I preordered my drink and croissant on the Starbucks app while in line at the pet store. Afterwards I walked in and my stuff was ready. My drink was perfect and I loved the pistachio honey croissant. They warmed it per my online request. Baristas were cheery. If I come back I'd chose this place over B&P across the street. If I came with friends, then I'd probably go across the street. read more

This is the ultimate Starbucks! The store is always clean! The staff should get Oscar awards ( if one for Starbucks existed) for this professionalism, respect, hospitality , Customer service, Customer care and "whatever" word exist for Best Nationwide demeanor/attitude. Everytime I ordered something from this location they never get it right, I sit & watch them make my drink using regular milk when I pay extra for non dairy milk So today 3/16/23 at 4pm I ordered a Caramel macchiato and a stand there and watch LALAmake my drink she has used 2% milk which my tag says OAK MILK So when she gave me my drink I asked LALA What type of milk is it that you use she said 2% as I supposed to have OAK MILk She just smiled & remake my drink the right one Very bad service read more

The staff is always so kind and I appreciate that. Also, the manager there was the first person to talk to me about using my rewards and making sure I don't lose them. A Starbucks in Takoma Park DC! Yes!!...I am so happy to see a SB in my neighborhood! This location fits really well in a neighborhood that is nostalgic, post-hippie 60's era....and full of small business and independent owner shops that prides themselves on keeping a "small town charm" in the city. The building space is open and eclectic like most of the shops in the area. As far as I can tell, in my last two visits, it is never too crowded. Also, I like that it is a standalone SB location, in a historic building with reclaimed wood, spacious seating and exposed brick throughout. Makes for a different, cool vibe and feel compared to most SBs. Thanks to this location being in close proximity to my home, it has been my choice of drug many of mornings to get the day started and provides sometimes a great escape from the crazy days that present themselves in my line of work. My go to drink you ask!? Simply put....Black Coffee, No sugar...No Creme!....As L.L. Cool J puts it...."That's kind of _____ I need down with my team!" Just kidding. LOL. Ooops....Sorry I digress. Back to the coffee, its very flavorful and strong. This location is loaded with all the same, great baked goods by the famous La Boulange Bakery and popular coffee products-mugs as the others. One thing I must admit, I got a crush on the SB Blueberry Muffins. They are so good-- warmed that is!! As for the Baristas, I must give them props too. Nothing like going to a place where the Barista is familiar with a wide range of coffee lexicons and weird orders I often hear being called-out while in line. I mean, I am not sure how they manage to stay sane. Personally I would have quit a long time ago...lol...especially with some of the orders I hear from indiscriminate coffee snobs that frequent most SB locations. I mean...people's preferences for temperature -- 87.5 degrees please (I mean really!?) , variated amounts of foam, Madagascar cinnamon (probably processed in Memphis, TN), 1%, 2%, red eye, black eye, etc.... you catch my drift. One can loose it with so many combinations other than a simple, regular 'Cup of Joe!'....at least I would!! So Kudos to the Barista and the Manager (I forgot her name) who are always friendly and manage to fulfill orders satisfactory at this location. So in all, not a bad SB location for a quick cup of Joe or for teleworking. It's a big brand newcomer that fits well into the Takoma Park neighborhood and vibe. Starbucks enters Takoma. Big move for a chain moving into this quirky local business focused neighborhood. I heard about the wars waged over Subway a few years back, before I moved here, but Starbucks entering town seems to be pretty mellow. No protests or signs so far. I've been twice so far since it opened last week to give this location a fair review. The drinks and food they serve are good. The same standard experience you expect from a Starbucks. My soy latte and drip coffee were good and met my expectations. I did try two of their little bagel bite things. Kinda like a bagel version of a munchkin. It was surprisingly good. The barista popped it into the oven for a few seconds and it came out hot and toasty on the outside and soft on the inside. The cream cheese inside was even still slightly cool. The staff is still working out the kinks to becoming a smooth operating team. Both times I've been there have been little mixups. Things like people standing around not doing anything, but also not taking my order. Or forgetting about something I ordered even the store wasn't busy. Lastly, the store is beautifully designed with the latest Starbucks look. Lots of reclaimed wood and raw metal. The layout looks clean and fresh as well. If you want to check out a great coffee place in the neighborhood walk a few door down to La Mano which has amazing coffee and food. But if you're in the mood for a Starbucks experience, this shop will get you that fix. read more

I ordered a coconut milk latte and two coconut milk steamers. I didn't realize until after I gave one steamer to my dairy-allergic child that they made both steamers with dairy milk. We caught it early enough that he is not experiencing life-threatening symptoms, but it has certainly ruined his day as he feels very sick. Please use alternative milks when requested! And I will be far more scrutinizing of baristas' work from now on, as well. read more

While the service can be hit or miss, when you get the friendly and welcoming employees, they're on point. My drinks are always made right and well. They get pretty busy with the morning rushes but ordering online makes being in and out a breeze. They always let me bring my dog inside, so she's a happy pup here! When you live right across the street, and you can drop in here with your pajamas on for a bacon gouda, and a tall iced white mocha. This place is Awesome! If you're going to go there to work or study, not so much. There aren't many outlets or places to sit. It's kind of disappointing considering this was supposed to be Takoma's "new third space." At the moment, it barely qualifies as a first space. Reminiscent to an urban Manhattan Starbucks, with just enough space and attitude to serve the on-the-go crowd. Because I fit into the aforementioned demographic, I must give it a high rating. It is extremely functional. Tourist Tip: They're not going to babysit you at this location. When I heard that Starbucks was moving into the area I was excited.When I went there the first few days I had good customer service however on one particular Thursday I ordered my usual favorite which was the Doubled smoked bacon,cheddar and egg sandwich.I was charged for the sandwich and as usual waited.When I got my sandwich it was not what I ordered! It was a regular cheddar and egg breakfast sandwich on a English muffin.When I went back to the young lady and politely informed her that this was not what I wanted she snatched the bag,rolled her eyes,scuffed at me and then refused to give me my receipt after she charged me for the original sandwich that I had ordered (Which cost almost two dollars more).When I told the other employee about this he said whatever in a monotone like voice.He didn't give a shit and neither did she.I avoid this place now in the mornings when those two sorry bums are there.The Afternoon and weekend crew are so much more better and actually welcome you. I'm happy that Starbucks is here in Takoma. Honestly, am tired of the " holier than though" service, high prices, and weak/lukewarm coffee of the latest wave of local, independent coffee shops popping up over the city. Not everyone wants to wait 15 minutes while you hand-pour an under-roasted, sour-tasting, lukewarm abomination that is served with a sneer of judgement if I ask for sugar. Starbucks consistently offers me a full-bodied cup of coffee that is steaming hot and a reasonable price. I can't complain about that. That being said, there are some service issues here, as others have stated. My only complaint is that they always seem to forget to restock the raw sugar. read more

I normally have zero issues with this Starbucks location but for the past 3 visits I've been having issues with one barista. He actually was annoyed that he had to make my soy hot chocolate over when he tried to scrape the whip cream he accidentally put on it off of the top (Really) if its a soy drink why would you ever think that you can scrape dairy off the top and give it to a customer. 2nd visit He uses the metal cup clearly marked dairy to make my soy latte, 3rd visit he pulls a plastic Starbucks cup from under the cabinet with milk inside and makes my drink??? Where did this milk come from why is it in a drinking cup and not in a carton as usual??? Unsanitary! Needless to say I threw the whole drink away after paying because I did not want to cause a scene. This is unacceptable. He needs training. Dairy allergy!! read more

Starbucks is wonderful at airports and freeway exits for a drinkable coffee, but here in Takoma they really are probably one of the weaker options. I've lived in Takoma Park for many many years, but I was very shocked to receive such horrible service at the Starbucks on carrol ave. They sell reusable cups and I asked eziquio if the cups are free of which he told me "sure" so I purchased the cup can't beat that deal. He proceeds to take the cup from the display and pour my coffe in it. I asked him is this from the display, he told me "yes, but I washed it" I asked him if there was any in the back which he responded no there wasn't any "yesterday" there was a young lady there by the name of Mandy who told me to throw the cup away because who knows how long the cup had been sitting there, she went to the back and grabbed me a new cup. Mandy did an exceptional job, I work in customer service and I buy from that Starbucks all the time I even have the app, but for that man to not even have the decency or courtesy to not give me a cup that maybe ants weren't in is unacceptable. With all the controversy that surrounds Starbucks, the least he could've done is give great customer service. read more
