Finally getting around to leaving a review after a few visits to Lost Sock Roasters. Every time I've been, it's been a consistently pleasant experience. Most recently, I stopped by over Easter weekend (2026) and grabbed my usual go-to, an empanada. This time it was the pulled pork, and it definitely hit the spot just like the others I've had. The rumors are true - Lost Sock Roasters is as good as everyone says it is! I was nearby for work for two consecutive days and it was necessary that I stopped in both days. The team there is super friendly and kind - I loved seeing them interact with their regulars (there were many). Service is very timely despite being busy and the cafe itself is very cute inside (limited seating but it seems like they have a great outdoor setup). The drinks are super smooth and flavorful! Their rotating signature drinks and syrups will keep me coming back. And the empanada are a must try. Highly recommend stopping by! read more

Everything from the coffee to the empanadas to the seating were perfect! This is the cutest coffee shop to visit for a breakfast. If I lived here, I would walk down here every weekend to enjoy a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. The service is friendly and they keep the indoor and outdoor seating areas clean. They have a wide variety of coffee, tea and espresso drinks and plenty of pastries and freshly baked empanadas to enjoy. I ordered the nitro-better than Starbucks-not too strong but also not weak. Such a perfect cafe! Everything is tasty and consistently good every time you come. Staff is super friendly and helpful if you have questions on the menu as well. It does get pretty busy on weekends but the line still moves pretty fast. If it's too busy inside they also have outdoor seating. While I was in the area, I stopped by the Lost Sock Roasters, because, one, the name sounded adorable, and, two, I wanted to get a caffeine fix and try out their empanadas. I ordered: +the Rose Cardamom Latte - prepared with syrup, espresso, and milk; this wasn't 'extra hot' as requested, and you could hardly taste the rose or the cardamom; it just tasted like warm milk... +an order of 3 empanadas - spinach and feta; Argentinian Style Chicken; and, Argentinian Style Beef; the empanadas were not fresh or warmed through properly, as the filling was cold; and, considering that you're not ordering 1, but 3, they should serve the number of dipping sauce accordingly; just seems that they were super cheap about it or not considering this at all Staff were friendly; the place is definitely small, so there's only a handful of tables and tight counter seating; definitely not recommended for those who get claustrophobic. I'm glad I was able to try this place out, but most likely would not return due to the disappointing experience. Really needing a coffee and in an unfamiliar neighborhood, I was lucky to come across this place! It's small enough to be cozy without being claustrophobic, and the interior is bright tiles and big windows that offset the dark wood. For nice days there is a small patio out front. I enjoy trying the different techniques and approaches that roasters have with their coffees, and appreciate that the staff is knowledgeable about the different coffees they have. The staff was really nice and made good recommendations based on the types of coffee that I prefer. Their pour over is served a bit cooler than I usually drink it, but the roast was well balanced so I didn't mind the change of pace. read more

I think many coffee nerds in DC say this is the best craft coffee roaster in DC. After coming here, I agree. The drip is on point. The staff is knowledgeable. They know what they're doing, and it is a busy operation. I got some empanadas, and thought they were just okay. One of mine was over salted, and they exchanged it. So, no complaints on the great service. The inside of the shop is eclectic and hipster. The lines are VERY long, and for good reason: the coffee is great. Love this place and only wish that it was closer to home. They roast their own beans and don't distribute to quite the same level as Zekes. The line wrapped around the place for most of the time that we were there. It's a cozy neighborhood place and you can tell that people keep this place going. One of the best chai lattes that I have had in a minute. Also got an iced hibiscus tea and it had so much flavor. Long line, but so worth it. A limited number of tables, some tall bar seats, and outdoor tables. They offer a variety of hot foods and massive croissants, but we got too much at Donut Run. It was the perfect place to sit in the corner and read. Super busy though so be prepared to weave in and out of the crowd. read more

I ordered a latte but it's a coffee shop so you are likely to find something you love. It can get busy depending on the time of day. I have been able to visit on a not-so-busy day and walk right in, while other times I have waited outside to allow the line to go down. The shop is small is size but there is room for sitting inside or outside (weather permitting). The staff is super friendly and the vibes are fabulous. They also have whole bean coffee available for you to take home if you prefer to grind and brew yourself!! Lastly, there is parking outside so you can usually park pretty close and grab your goodies. Ok people, I'm done looking for a hands down favorite coffee shop, my quest is over, this is the place! My personal favorite is the orange blossom mocha. They have kids hot chocolate and they have kids books scattered throughout the eating area. If you are a parent you will love this place. The service is phenomenal. So friendly. So attentive. It feels like the coffee and food was made just for me. The ambiance is modern but rustic. I love the empanadas they are delicious. There is outdoor seating and it's beautiful. Oof, a painful drive to get here from where I live, but if you're in the Tacoma neighborhood, it's a must. I stopped by this past Friday afternoon for lunch and coffee. There's plenty of street parking nearby so parking was not an issue this time around. The interior is pretty small (with a few small square tables and bar seating) that has a well-decorated interior. There's a shelf stocked with all their available beans with recent roast dates. I ended up buying two bags (Kenya & Ethiopia single origins) that both smell super fruity and pleasant. ROSE CARDAMOM LATTE (12 OZ) - 5.25 I think that was the price point... but it's +0.50 for oat milk. I asked for less milk so I could taste more of the espresso. The coffee flavors were pleasant and the rose cardamom syrup wasn't too sweet, yet had a very floral flavor that I enjoyed. Apparently, it's one of their most popular latte flavors, and I can definitely see why. SANDWICH - EGG / CHEESE - 8 +3 for ham and cheese croissant Probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The croissant was buttery, flaky and perfectly toasted, topped with a lot of herbs (rosemary?) that made it extra fragrant. The egg was fluffy and the ham was delicious. The cheese was super melty and had a distinct and strong flavor. The best part about this was the sauce that they generously drizzled/smeared on because it was incredibly garlicky and was the highlight of this whole sandwich. It was so, so good. I'd highly recommend. It made the perfect lunch for a slow Friday afternoon. I'm not sure when's the next time I'll stop by since it's hard to get to and quite the painful drive. But if I'm ever in Tacoma again, I am 100% stopping by. read more

I came here with my friend on a Sunday morning and the vibes were amazing. My friend comes quite regularly and travels across the city to come because of how wonderful of a coffee shop it is. I got an earl grey latte which I have never heard of before but it was yummy and he got a matcha latte which he said was also delicious. I also got avocado toast with a jammy egg. The jammy egg was a novel food to me but it really elevated the already wonderful avocado toast. The baristas were nice, welcoming, and accommodating. I stopped in at Lost Sock for an afternoon coffee while in the Takoma/Silver Spring area. The shop itself has nice outdoor seating and a decent amount of indoor space as well. I went on Saturday and it was incredibly busy with a sizable line that snaked almost all the way around the counter. The line moved quickly though and the service was friendly and able to answer a question I had about a new drink they had on the menu. I ordered this seasonal drink which was essentially an Earl Grey style bergamot infused latte. They don't have skim milk; the only dairy option they have is whole. I took off a star because the latte tasted like just a slightly sweet coffee, rather than what it was supposed to be flavored with. The coffee was also very strong. I'd definitely come back here if I was in the area but I'd keep in mind the strong coffee and likely ask for extra flavoring if I wanted a flavored drink. read more

Glad to find a cute local coffee place! While the place is relatively small and busy, I was soon greeted by a friendly staff and ordered a house latte. The service was also quick. The latte was creamy, mellow aftertaste, and less sourness, which I really liked. There are a decent number of pastries and meals so I'll definitely try some in the future. No wifi. I ordered a croissant, latte, and espresso tonic. Espresso tonic was my fave ! Very delicious. Latte was ok, and croissant was good - I wish they'd offered to warm it up for me, but I didn't think to ask. Limited seating inside simply due to it being a smaller place, but I loved the look and feel. They take pride in high quality beans, and offer several single origin brews. They also offer "to go" and "free refill" pricing for some of their drinks, which I appreciate. Baristas seem Knowledgeable and it's nice to know there's an option for high-quality "slow coffee", particularly pour overs. The second I got in with a few friends the chef, a white man wearing a hat that said chef, walked right into one of my friends, never said excuse me or apologized, and gave us all looks. I tried to ignore and ordered 2 chai lattes made with oatmilk, only 1 was a chai, the iced "chai" they gave me was an earl grey. I then ordered the "Cubano" sandwhich, asked if they could use a different protein and they said no (lies, it said you could substitute and add on proteins) if I ordered a sandwhich WHY THE HECK did I recieve 3 empanadas... they had the audacity to add the dipping sauce for my sandwhich but no sandwhich... I spent almost 40$ on things I never ordered. The rest of the staff was very kind but this experience was utter bs. Do better, I will NEVER support this business again. read more

I have been a customer for several years now and have increasingly become disappointed by the espresso drinks, not necessarily the quality but the preparation. The temperature has consistently been lukewarm, which makes the taste bland and unpleasant. It's a bummer because the shop used to be much better than what it is now. Lost Sock Roaster had been on my list to try for a long time, but I hadn't found myself near their original Takoma location yet. They recently opened a new location in the Phillips Collection that I was able to try. One normally needs a ticket to go to the Phillips Collection but if you just want to go to Lost Sock Roaster you can just tell them that at the front desk and they will let you in. I will note that I had brought a small bag with me and my bike helmet and they made me leave it at bag check. I guess they do this since I was entering a museum but this felt weird since I was just there to go to a coffee shop. They steps it took to enter the cafe, due to it being in a museum, is one of the main reasons I couldn't give Lost Sock Roasters a five out of five. Since the cafe is fully inside the museum there is also very limited hours. I got an iced americano which was good and the barista's working there were very chatty as I waited for my drink (it didn't take long at all). There was one group of people sitting together at one of the tables they have but otherwise I was the only one there around mid-day on a Tuesday. Seems like it would have been a quiet spot to do some work but you would have had to carry in your items since you can't bring a bag. read more

Love it here. It gets busy, but even when there is a reasonable delay the workers acknowledge you. I've tried plain to specialty drinks, hot and cold and everything always hits the spot. Food is great too. Can't resist getting the salmon cronut sandwich and a homemade empanada. There's not a ton of seating, but I could spend all day in the Adirondack chairs outside if I could. Basically narrowed down our home search based on sitting in said chairs and now we live within walking distance. There's a changing table in the bathroom, but there's a step to get inside the cafe if strollering. Will need to try their new location! read more
