Not a great experience. I had to wait over ten minutes for my drink when there only two people ahead of me. The manager finally came over and asked me how long I had been waiting. He told the barista to finish up my drink, but when he finally gave it to me, it was the incorrect drink. The manager remade it The barista had an open sore on his hand...yuck. That needs to be covered with a bandaid or gloves. Positives: manager was on top of things and they gave me a large size instead of medium. read more

Very busy but yet well organized location. 99% of the baristas are super super super friendly and knowledgeable, except for one very grumpy barista lol (maybe other baristas can cheer him up a little). This location has a very efficient layout where tables (where most students studying) are behind the bar and semi separated from the ordering area. I placed an order for a bagel at this location. It was busy but I waited about 20 minutes so I decided to ask on the status of the order. The first person I asked didn't even check on my order and just said it was coming. I waited another 5 minutes and asked someone else. They were rude but at least checked on the order and said food for running 20 minutes behind. I understand being busy, but it would have been nice to have been notified when I placed the order that something simple like a bagel would take 25+ minutes. I would have not placed the order if I knew that. Also, the rude service staff here was really disappointing. I have had good experiences here in the past but this was just unacceptable. read more

I walked into the Starbucks Reserve in Brookland to use my free birthday drink, not expecting such a beautiful and sophisticated space. Unlike a regular Starbucks, the Starbucks Reserve has more experimental drinks, like the delicious cold brew malt. (Please get the cold brew malt as your free birthday drink, thank me later!) The seating is great here, allowing you to truly relax with your beverage. There is ample space for laptop use and cute leather seats for solo visitors. What most people don't know about this particular Starbucks is that it's a reserve bar and much better than your ordinary ones!

Fabulous place, I love this reserve location. The seating and ambience are great, better than a lot of Starbucks I've been to in town. The dark chocolate mocha is smooth and well balanced. As always, the "other" brewing methods are both fun to watch and delicious. Eddie was extremely knowledgeable and kind, making my morning coffee run for myself both enjoyable and educational. Today was my first time visiting this Starbuck's location, but it definitely will not be my last. I work at a nearby rehabilitation facility and I co-facilitate a weekly community outing for patients recovering from TBI and stroke. From the minute we walked in the door, we were greeted with smiling faces. The gentleman at the register, I believe his name was Aref, was extremely patient with one of our guys as he was trying to articulate his order and give the correct payment. We sat down at a table to enjoy our drinks. Not long after, another patient accidentally knocked her drink on the floor. Upset that she had wasted her drink, and embarrassed that she had caused a scene, I and another therapist began cleaning it up quickly. A man whose name I didn't catch, but think may be the manager, came over and told us to stop cleaning and they would get it. Allison came over to clean the spill up while Paul remade her drink. I was blown away by the kindness shown by every single employee! Unfortunately, during our community outings we are often met with impatience, lack of understanding, and lack of empathy, so it was great as therapists to see the kindness that is still out there and the good people that take the time to help others. More importantly, we were happy that our patients had a pleasant experience and, in doing so, increased their confidence in reintegrating back into the community. read more

Best Starbucks experience. My first reserve store trip and then it had the reserve bar! Pretty amazing. I recommend taking in a flight and trying the different reserve coffees while hearing the stories from the barista leading the tasting. Really enjoyed the connection. Nico really has a great team and a beautiful store. Nitro Cold Brew floats, so worth it. read more

This isn't like the typical Starbucks. It has a bigger lounge area and is open pretty late. Has a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

This is my first time here and I'm liking the new store so far! It's huge, has a bunch of Reserve coffees (which I need to start trying), and looks so beautiful. I think Starbucks have really outdone themselves with this one. The baristas here are wonderful (unlike some others - looking at you, Dupont). The location is convenient and the neighbourhood, much like other parts of DC, is undergoing reconstruction to something amazing. Solid 10/10. read more

I love this Starbucks, it's very nice and classy. They are always busy and it's always clean in there. My favorite drink to get is the green tea lemonade, which they always make perfectly. Great staff! Lots of seating (although it's usually overrun with students from the nearby colleges). The drinks are average Starbucks beverages with the addition of some "reserve" options which are more expensive but worth trying if you have a free drink! Also they have affogatos which I have yet to try but are next on my list read more

It's very frustrating that you can't order drinks made with cold brew using the app because it's a reserve store, especially now that it's mobile orders only. I have to travel to a different Starbucks everyday even though I live right next to this one. They should really figure that out. read more

I wouldn't recommend ordering anything from the Reserve menu, unless you're cool with waiting for upwards of ten minutes. For some reason those orders go to a different station that sometimes doesn't have anyone at it. Also sometimes they get misread. I've ordered a dark chocolate mocha many times and been given a hot chocolate. If you get what you order though, it's good. read more

This Starbucks offers awesome possibilities when it comes to enjoying the coffee experience! Apparently there are only 34 reserve bars in the US...and the difference in the high-end quality and service was noticeable! The reserve bar baristas are helpful, courteous and willing to accommodate individual tastes! Went out of my way to come here twice a day while in DC for a conference. I would have happily given this location 5-stars- But the last 3 times I came here I had to deal with a salty, rude, hipster, shift-manager that has made it to the top of my worst-service ever list. This guy was so snarly (you know the type - the one that looks at you with a dead-pan disgusted look like he can't be bothered which is ironic because he is actually in a service job that deals with people) that ultimately I decided to get my $11 dollar coffees elsewhere when I am in town. I don't need to waste my time and money on a location that allows their shift leads to behave so poorly. Too bad one bad apple does ruin the bunch. read more

I'm visiting from NYC. I've been coming to this Starbucks for the past few days. Today I lost my bank card while walking to this location. The barista actually let me look for my card and opened another register to take customers behind me. Then a woman in front of my offered to pay for my order. Then after declining her generous offer the barista offered to just let me have my drink for free. Thankfully my Starbucks app was working and I had as able to pay. I also luckily found my bank card on the sidewalk a few blocks away. I gotta say today was a good day and this is one of the best Starbucks experiences I have ever had and I go everyday. Not just any ol' Starbucks. This is a Starbucks Reserve Bar. Apparently there are only 20 or so in the country and the closest Starbucks Reserve Bar to this one is in NYC. So, what does that actually equate to? Well, a really bougie atmosphere, tons of workspace, specialty drinks, and a pretty awesome coffee selection. I happened to just wander into this Starbucks looking for a place to work...unaware that I had entered the elite class of Starbucks. I was first impressed with a large bar at the end with a variety of coffee brewing options including Clover, pourover, French press, and even siphon coffee! The first barista I spoke to worked at the "regular" part of the Starbucks and didn't seem too equipped to answer all of my questions about the offerings that they had so she referred me to the barista at the Reserve Bar end who was super knowledgeable about the different coffees they offered and the differences in brewing methods. Clover uses a fine metal filter, giving you a more full-body expression, while a pourover will use a paper filter and will give you a cleaner cup, pulling out some of the oil and acidity. I opted for a pourover of the Malawi roast which was a nice, deep, rich cup of coffee without too much acidity. I'm usually not a fan of Starbucks coffee as I find they often burn their coffee; but their Reserve collections are not bad, especially when they are actually made correctly! This location also offers some neat selections of drinks that you can't find elsewhere--and maybe even some latte art (I haven't tried ordering one yet!). Also, they have nitro cold brew available and...wait for it...affogatos! YAAASSS, because all I really need in life is a scoop of ice cream floating in a beautiful shot of espresso. Also, the interior design in here is just magazine-picture-perfect. Comfy leather seats and dark wood and cute molded stools and gold accents like my infinite dream, all day, everyday. Oh, and baristas that actually clean up in their spare time and walk around maintaining the clean perfection? It's peaceful, quiet, and inviting. Great space. If I still lived in the area, I would definitely frequent this place. read more

I just want to tell the staff at this Starbucks how appreciative I am of them. I am an Occupational Therapist that works with stroke and brain injury patients at a near-by hospital. We provide our patients with weekly community outings around Washington, DC. We came here after visiting the Bascilica. The staff here had patience with our outing group, taking their time to help them with their drink order, work through their language deficits, and were very encouraging while we worked on money management. When one of our patient's spilled her drink, they were quick to make her another and clean up. The staff were very accommodating to our patients and we (therapists) appreciate all they did for them. Sporting their fedoras as they whip custom drinks and pour-overs at the separate bar, most of the baristas have a cool vibe. Cons: Where they and many new Starbucks staff fall short is execution. Today, I waited 20 minutes for my order and there seemed to be a lack of urgency or acknowledgement that service was off. Other days I'll come in and my order will be waiting, but there will be three baristas discussing one cup of coffee and I have to interrupt the strategic planning to get my drink. It can't be that complicated. I'd recommend Starbucks send all new employees to the Chinatown location. Those baristas run it like a machine - even if the line is out the door, you'll still get your drink in about 5 minutes. read more

If you love drawn out wait times and waiting forever for your order making you late for work then this is the place for you. I have ordered from this place at least 5 times and each and every time there has been an issue. One time I ordered online and although I gave the girl my name she still missed my order and tried to tell me that I did not push the order through all of the way. Another time I went in and ordered online waited 20 minutes and something told me to ask what was going on. To be honest I can not tell the difference because you literally are always waiting. They made everyone's order and conveniently skipped over my order and when I asked for the status it was determined that they indeed skipped my order. I kid you not I have plenty more stories. They also have their favorite customers who they also will ignore you to speak to them. This Starbucks is 6 minutes from my job and I would give Starbucks up completely before I step a foot in this place!!!!! read more
