Milly's Tavern. Before I begin, let me note that the "Yelp Tagline" highlights "Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt" as search terms for Milly's. What the hell is that about? If you're ordering Frozen Yogurt at Milly's, you must be more loaded than Charlie Sheen on a Friday night. I digress... Beer- Milly's has quite a lot on draft. While some of the brews are mediocre, I respect what they are doing here. The highlight is Milly's Oatmeal Stout- no doubt. They are writing the book on Oatmeal Stouts and it's worth your time. I also hear they are making a some good Pumpkin Ale during Fall but pumpkin beer is not my thing. Food- This is where Milly's misses the mark. We've had some bad food here and it leaves much to be desired. I don't have any food recommendations for you to try here. Stick to the beer and leave the food for somewhere else. Atmosphere- Milly's is a great spot during Winter or Fall. It's underground with lots of exposed brick They have a standard brewery feel/look with a chalkboard displaying what's on draft. It's looks clean and they have clean facilities. Staff- Meh. Depends on who is working. You can get great folks who treat you well, just as easily as you can get people who will be happy throw the stink eye at you. Overall- Go to Milly's. Try the beer sampler and stay for awhile with some friends. You won't regret it at all. Just don't expect anything that's going to blow your socks off. read more

Went with a group to see a band . It was packed ! They have moved things around there so the stage is now at the other end . They only have craft beer which I don't like so I ordered sangria .... which wasn't great . But it's a brewery and they probably dont specialize in cocktails. The waiter was really impatient and never offered to answer any questions about the beers. Several in my party ordered beer though ... and said the ones they tried were good. One had a blueberry beer and raved about it. I got a chic buffalo wrap with sweet potato fries and my husband got a meat lovers bomb with fries . Both sandwiches were very good , and both kinds of fries were also tasty. My husband could have eaten more .. his portion seemed small , but he gave it a big thumbs up . I would go back again for a meal . I dont like the stage area at all, it's too small . It used to be up front but that's all brewery equipment now and I think you can get a tour but no one mentioned it to us . There is No room to dance , not sure if they can move a table or two out of the way . Overall the service wasn't great . The waiter was rude and short with us and was irritated when I asked him to split the bill because we were leaving earlier than the rest of our party . We gave up waiting and left cash with our friends to pay our portion. We saw a few bubbly waitresses around but we weren't lucky enough to get one of them . Maybe next time . read more

Milly's is one of my local favorites, especially 4-7pm on a weeknight. This is when happy hour is, $1 drafts and half price appetizers. Their homemade drafts are awsome, I recommend the John Stark Porter. And I'm a huge fan of all the appetizers. It's quite popular with the local crowds. And a great place to hang out. read more

What a bummer!! So excited to try this place out for some yummy bar snacks... Haven't been out with our two year old since covid - we went here thinking spread out, high ceilings. Nobody came to our table so my husband went to find menus. No drink menu, disappointing for a distillery but lady was friendly when she did come to us. We ordered drinks and two apps from the specials. About 20 minutes goes by and we get an apology that we got yesterday's specials but they're making them.... then another 20 minutes passes. Thankfully our kids being a champ - finally we tell them we'd like to pay for our drinks and be on our way. The lady comped our drinks, which was cool but would have rather payed and actually received what we ordered. My husband enjoyed his beer and my rum & coke was just ok. read more

The three beers I had were delicious. APA, porter and cask stout. The bartender gets a negative ten on a scale to 100. He flat out ignored me when I tried to get his attention and order a beer. He was super busy talking to another employee and cleaning. Even when he was standing right in front of me he wouldn't acknowledge me as he was cleaning the bar. The servers were nice. Though hid on a slow night. Had to get a mgr to order a beer, since the bartender didn't want to help customers and servers were no where to be found. When we left the servers were all out front smoking. no wonder there were no servers inside helping the few customers. Looks crappy to have all these smokers hovering around the front door and even worse when it's the staff of the brewery. On a good note, one of the best Nachos I have had. They cooked it really good and the jalapeños were fresh and not from a jar. Big bonus. :) read more

The last time I got food here was over a year ago, I remember it was pretty good but nothing outstanding. What is outstanding is the music. If you lost the funk, you can definitely find it at Milly's on Tuesday nights. It's so much fun! I've only had the pumpkin beer (shame on me) because I usually go when I'm craving pumpkin and it's not in season and it's the best pumpkin around. Even when all the seasonal pumpkin brews come around, nothing beats Milly's. I guess I will have to go back and try more of the beer...I'm not complaining. read more

I bought a groupon to take my friend for her birthday for a tour and tasting. I emailed but was told the morning of, so I did. When I called the woman said they actually did not do tours on weekends but said she would see what she could do. One of the brewers came in on his day off to give us a tour! All the staff were super nice and made sure we had a good time! The food was great, and the beer/drinks were awesome. It was nice and refreshing to come to a place where they accommodated their guests even if they didn't have too!! read more

Second time we have been here and second time nothing but disappointment. Worst brewery we have been to, and we have been to almost all the breweries in NH. Flat beer in the growler, even watched her pour it and questioned her that it would be flat, she said no. But yup... flat, waste of $. unsanitary in the dishwashing, watched the process, was disgusted. bar tenders eating food while working and serving, won't ever go back. The selection of local beers is good, and they sell growlers so you can enjoy your favorite beer at home. The atmosphere is nice, it's casual and friendly. Plenty of bar seating, communal and high-top tables as well. The staff is friendly and pretty good at being attentive to the tables as well as the bar. Don't come here for the food. The menu is limited, and the food is pretty generic, bland and tasteless. The only thing I've ever had there that I enjoyed are the warm pretzel appetizers. read more

We were in Boston and since it's pricey there we figured we should head back to Milly's Tavern in Manchester. Collegues went there the night before and loved it since it had tons of microbrews on tap and good live entertainment. There wasn't entertainment when we got there and it was pretty sparse but tons of beer was promised...and to our surprised CHEAP microbrews as well. $1 a pint since football was on tv. Everyone in our group asked why we left New Hampshire in the first place. LOL. Some of them started playing pool and towards the end of the night there was a dj blasting/mixing some good old school hip hop and random songs. It was random since there wasn't tons of people in this very large place but it's a good hangout. I was only in New Hampshire for work but I'd stop by here for a beer again. read more

We recently had lunch at Milly's Tavern, and it's too bad that it was such a poor experience. It is a unique spot! When you enter the bar, you see all sorts of brewing equipment behind the bar. There are a good amount of tables, and on some nights they even have live music. Let me start by saying that the beers here (for the most part) are fantastic. The value here is good too, especially at happy hour during the week. That being said, we came in for lunch, and it took 5-10 minutes for someone to come over. The server was cold throughout service: never asked us how the food was, etc. She only brought out the drinks, the food, and the check. She just acted like serving us was an inconvenience. One of the worst experiences we've ever had with service. We ordered the chicken tenders with hot sauce as an appetizer. They were OK: half-sauced, served over cold fries, and with no dipping sauce (blue cheese, ranch, etc.). The tenders actually tasted pretty good, almost sweet, but the rest of the dish was poorly executed. For an entree, I ordered the Blues Burger. Again it tasted OK, but it was overcooked and a bit dry. I understand that this is pub food and not supposed to be fine dining, but you'd expect the food to at least be on par with the beer. All in all a poor experience. We have had mixed results here in the past, but unfortunately because of the poor service and mediocre food, we will probably not return. read more

Absolutely horrible!! Took an HOUR to receive our beer. We come to a brewery for beer, so the worst experience ever. Nice selection of beers. I tried a flight and the box it came in was adorable. This is not going to be very helpful, as it's been a while, but: I recall liking a wheat beer and they're usually hit or miss for me. I tried two pumpkin ones; one was pumpkin pie or something and was a bit too pumpkin-y (I didn't know this was possible, either) and the other was good; there was some blueberry one that tasted kind of weirdly like yogurt; the blueberry one was okay; the spicy chocolate one in a barrel was strange. I had a French dip sandwich. At the time, I was apparently going through a mini French-dip-ordering craze, so I'd had points of reference. My verdict was that Milly's French dip was just decent. Fries were fine, too. Neither was special. My friend substituted her fries with cajun fries, but she either just ended up with regular fries or the cajun fries were super weak. I can probably confirm which it was when I go back, which will have to happen because I have yet to claim my free beer. (So crafty.) Aside: Finding this place proved to be a bit of a challenge. We entered the building through the back door or something and got directions from a little group that was doing some marketing presentation. Fortunately, we did not accept their invitation to attend the presentation, as you would not have then had the delight of reading this excellent and perfectly remembered review. read more

Every time we go it takes the bartender forever to serve, even when the bar is dead. The last time we went we even said to each other, "does this happen all the time here?" We sat for 10 minutes at our last visit while the bartender was outside on his cell phone smoking a cigarette and the bar waitresses would just stand over by the cash register not offering anything, even after eye contact was made. $9 beers for mediocre microbrews. Need more hops in the IPAs. read more

TLDR: Its a townie bar with mediocre food and a "wide" beer selection that caters to a particular taste. I've been here 4 times in the past year or so. Friends like to go to a weekly event hosted here or else we probably wouldn't chose it. The waitresses have always been very nice. The bartender one evening commented that my mixed drink selection was terrible- her version of it was definitely terrible. They have a very limited selection of spirits and pour very heavy, if you're into that. I would not come here for the mixed drinks. At first blush, they look to have a wide selection of beer. Unfortunately, there is this overarching flavor profile that their brew master must be really into that permeates most of their selection- What I guess is hops since they're in most of the selection? Again, if you're into that. Hops- or whatever this is, is not to my taste so I don't find much in their 'wide selection' I'd order again. What doesn't fall into that category (like their sour) is flat. Pretty much everything they brew and serve is flat. The branding and can labels are really nice though! As far as the food, it really feels like an afterthought. There is nothing we've ordered that we'd order again. We've had burnt wings, dried overcooked wings, a raw burger, soggy fries... At best its just ok. If we keep going to the event, we'll have to start eating in advance. read more

The biggest problem with Milly's is there are too many beers to try in a single visit! They have 16 of their own brews on tap. And every one deserves a taste. And there's something for everyone's tastes. One of the best things about Milly's is that they make trying all those beers possible by offering half price drafts and appetizers Mon-Fri from 4-7 pm. We've eaten there a number of times as well and the food has always been quite good. It's a typical pub menu with some unique offerings as well. Milly's has live music regularly on the weekends. It tends toward the heavy metal, hard rock genres. So you might want to visit during the week or weekend days if that's not your thing. read more

Big fan of Milly's Tavern. Excellent beer and they always have 10-20 of their own brews on tap. Can't go wrong with any of them! Food is great too (4-5 star bar food, but it is still bar food). The ONLY downside (which hasn't stopped me from going frequently) is the service. While very friendly, takes forever to get an order in, and beer fill-ups are infrequent. In Manchester on a layover. Found Milly's Tavern on the internet and had to check it out. The bar area was packed with people having a great time. Found a high table near the back of the table seating area. Kinda dark back there, but could see most of the bar. (I wonder if one must have a visible tattoo as part of their employment terms, every employee seemed to have one.) Good selection of microbrew beers. Ordered a Mount U Cream Ale. It was pretty good. Had the full rack of ribs. What a huge pile of ribs! The ribs were dry rub but as tender as one will find. I asked for bbq sauce and was brought a sample in a plastic shot glass. Can't really dunk a rib in that small container. For the first time in my life I could not finish the last two ribs because these were the meatiest ribs I have ever seen! Baked beans were awesome too! Overall, the place was worth the venture. read more

I wanna like this place. I really do. And I've never had a "bad" experience really, but...I dunno. I do love that the inside is nicely well lit so you can actually see your drinks and the people you're with. The music is low so you can carry on a conversation. But every time I come here I can't help but feel like my presence is annoying the staff, like they're super busy and having to stop and help me is such an inconvenience, even when the place is dead. It makes for an unpleasant experience. Because of this, my husband and I only ever have one drink each then take off. So, I don't know if we'll be back again. read more

Went on a Saturday afternoon around 5pm for some drinks after a conference with a group. We sat in the back, behind the bar. Took forever to get the bartenders attention to get a drink. Our group was completely ignored throughout the night. Had to walk up to the bar to order food, no one ever checked on us. 3 of us ordered food, the other two people were finished eating before I even got my sandwich, which looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, and the order was screwed up. The "millys famous" chicken tender sandwich was definitely nothing special. I think the "cajun" fries were only flavored with salt and pepper. Even more annoying was the other food looked pretty good. The beer I had was a Cherry Porter. Not bad, but wasn't overly special either. I'm a huge fan of Milly's. While it's certainly not the best restaurant in town, the main appeal is the beer - they brew their own beer on premises and have an amazing selection. I'd strongly suggest the Amoskeag Harvest Ale of the ManchVegas IPA. Some of my favorite beers in the region. Not all of their beers are stellar, both by my preferences OR by the standards for those beers, but the variety of the offerings will likely lead you to one you like. read more

Have only been here once so far for trivia night so I cannot say much about it yet. First off, it is a rather large faulty with many different rooms and bars. We were led to a back room for trivia night that had its own bar, tables and DJ booth where the host was setting up. Overall, the trivia night was very fun and even included a mini pie eating contest as one of the rounds. I do not drink beer but many of my friends do and ordered some of home brews. I don't know exactly which ones they had but they only had good things to say. I stuck with my usually cape cod which is always the same. Price was like your average bar during the week ($5-7). We did order the "Brew" Chetta when we got hungry. It was a small portion (4 or 5 pieces) but it was excellent. It was their take on the classic bruschetta and it used one of their homemade brews in the recipe. It had a very slight beer flavor but it complimented the other flavor very nicely. Overall, I'd return to this place to try out more of their menu. However, I would not go here on weekend evenings. They pretty much turn into a night club for 18+ and charge a high cover price. However, it does make sense seeing as how they are in the milliard right near UNH Manchester. read more

Stopped here on the way up to North Conway from Massachusetts for a late dinner. First, the beer is pretty good. I had Hopzilla which if you like IPAs is very good. Second, the service is friendly if slow and a bit clueless. For example, we were given our food with by another server and had a grand total of zero napkins. A bit awkward. Finally, the food is truly awful. I'm generally pretty forgiving when it comes to brewpub food, but this was a whole story. The "pizza" we ordered appeared to be a pita bread with some slightly melted cheese on it. If the jalapeno poppers we ordered actually had jalapeno's in them they were well disguised. Everything seemed like ti had come directly out of the freezer, then into the microwave before being delivered to our table. Yikes. Go here for a decent beer. Avoid the food. read more

Stark Mill or the artist formerly known as Milly's Tavern offers up a wide variety of microbrews and local flavor. It's family friendly, but also caters to a much more eclectic crowd during certain hours. Call ahead if this is more your speed. Stop in, grab a seat at the bar and ask one of the helpful staff if you can sample one of their latest offerings. You won't be disappointed. They offer a full menu, growlers to go, brewery tours (again call ahead) and a scenic view of the historic Manchester Mill Buildings. Plus you're within walking distance to downtown, Fisher Cat Stadium or relaxing on park benches over looking the Merrimack River. Mention "J. Stark Brewing is not your modern brewery. It's not got the glitzy industrial feel or polished burnish, but it reminds me of hole in the wall taverns from back home that I'd go to with my nephew for a beer and a chat. The employees have blue collar personalities that some might be frustrated by because they don't always get instant gratification, but the interactions are genuine except from the GM who seems stiff and very fake. Food is great and I had suggestions from the kitchen lead and beer was average at best. read more

I had a Groupon to try here and was excited, but the beer tasted dirty and the whole restaurant came across as dirty. We ordered a few appetizers and had fruit flies joining us for the whole time, working in the restaurant business you know if there are flies in the winter the restaurant must be infested. I will start with the positives, they have a nice selection of house brewed beers. Got a beer sampler. A couple of them were pretty good. That is the only positives to this place. The service was terrible. It took twenty five minutes to get the beer after we ordered it. The food took forty five minutes after we ordered it. They apologized and said they got a large party that they weren't prepared for. Okay, I understand that but forty five minutes for a plate of nachos? They nachos were ok, with fresh vegetables and moderately priced but forty five minutes with just a sorry. Our server was inattentive and mostly unseen. I will not go back to this place. read more

While most of the people here are kind and work hard - I just had the absolute worst experience sitting at the bar while some man who I can only assume is part owner, a manager or something "important" based on the rant he went on in front of customers about how he single handed my saved the place and is going to make it great. He stood there for the entire hour and a half I was present - drinking beer, not helping with any of the customers - (I sat there with an empty glass for well over a half hour) and while he continued to glance over my way while talking shit about everyone around and going off about how much better he is than everyone else - he did not do a single goddamn thing to assist his one bartender who was running around like crazy trying to help people all while training a new hire. This short, stout, bearded white man then went on to refer to everyone in their as a bunch of retards. Not sure if he was referring to the staff or the customers but either way he's an entitled piece of trash in my eyes, and it's a damn shame that people probably have to deal with him all the time wasting space. read more

Made what we thought would be a quick stop in Manchester! Three hours later we had eaten, great food, had a couple of flights, and had a great afternoon! The apps were terrific, tasty and spicy spring rolls, and my scallops were perfect, broiled and served over a bed of rice! Will definitely be back next time we're in town!
