I have never been to a meat market, but if you're ever in need of fresh fair priced meats, this is your place! The staff are all very friendly and so helpful from choosing cuts off meat, to preparation and how to cook the meats. We always grab deer sausage as well as brisket and short ribs. They even sell meat rubs and seasonings, some fresh produce like potatoes and onions, and also fresh hot pork tamales! If you need side dishes they sell those too, like tator tots, onion rings, French fries, and hush puppies!! Been to this place 2 to 3 times and will definitely be coming back for more. Oh and the staff were so kind to my niece they gave her some chocolate candy! EVERYONE is so kind and helpful!!! They even helped us load the meat into my car! This is not your nasty, foul-smelling mexican price gouging carneceria michocana or mexican meat market. This is a true butcher shop with real cuts of meat, grass feed t-bones, sirloins, ribeyes, etc. They have the best homemade sausages from venison to beef and pork spicey or mild. I wanted four great New York steaks to serve for dinner, as we were having friends in for dinner that evening. I drove there from Mont Belvieu as I was told its a great butcher shop. They advertise USDA choice beef, which is very good. When I looked in the meat counter, I noticed the cut of steaks I was wanting. I was a bit concerned as there was very little marbling in the steaks. While I'm not a USDA meat grader, I did have a slaughter class in my Agri-Business curriculum in college. I got my four steaks that were wrapped up and went to the cashier to pay. I was looking at the meat counter at the cuts and still feeling concerned about my steaks. I then noticed they had full strips of porterhouse, ribeye's and Ney York's, in the cryovac package from the processor. The strips all had the grade of USDA Select clearly on the cryovac package. Select beef is pretty much devoid of marbling, which is devoid of flavor. When I expressed my concern, the cashier told me all the beef they sell is choice. When I pointed out the USDA Select labeling on the packaging, all she said was, oh. I opened the package of steaks I was about to purchase and looked them over one more time. I'm just not absolutely sure about the meat, the source, and the full product. What I mean is that as I purchase ribeyes at Whole Foods, I feel pretty confident that such has not be injected with hormones or dishonorably handled. Here, the meat is so plentiful, I'm must question ts origin. However, I do greatly enjoy the pre-packaged sausage. My secretary first brought some to work, and I followed her directions here. Mine also turned out great. However, upon my recent visit, the sausage was now only sold in a 10lb box that was now $37, rather than $12 or $13 for a bag that was already too big. So, I guess my next journey is inclusive of me trying to find someone to split the cost and contents of a box of sausage... As usual, they are mostly located in the run down parts of neighborhoods and they offer meat packages in which you can get several pounds of different cuts of meat for a set price. This place is no different. I usually only frequent meat markets for homemade smoked sausage, as I feel that there is absolutely nothing better than sausage from a butcher shop. Although I have adopted several city characteristics, I'm still very much a country girl at heart. Y'all can have your Eckrich and I'll eat my homemade sausage. :-) If you are looking for deer sausage, pork, beef, or even chicken sausage this is a great place to come. This was my first visit to a butcher shop. I was beyond excited when I saw the cuts and meats. I went in for a 6 inch cut of beef filet, they showed me the full filet for about 115$ which isn't bad But when I asked if they could cut me a 6 inch portion, they got quiet and acted like if it was impossible to cut, they looked at each other then me and a guy said (without making eye contact) "yeah we can cut it but you're going to pay about the same price" I asked if I miss heard what he said and he repeated himself. So I responded "100 for a 6 inch cut?" And he just went on with "yeah man" Pretty much tryna play me for a fool I guess. I left pretty upset, Anyway went to HEB on Garth and got a beautiful 6 inch cut for 32$ Worth the trip read more

If you want good cut meat, they have it! They even sell venison and buffalo. The meat is fresh and inexpensive. You don't know how great it is to cook fresh meat, totally different taste. I highly recommend the beef marinated fajita meat. OMG, we grilled it and it was so tender I couldn't believe it, and you dont have to add anything. I had the front 1/4 of a cow butchered to my spec. and have feed my family and friends for the last 9 months. The Iowa corn-feed beef was delicious from ribeye to roast to hambuger. The processed frezzer wrapped meat averaged out at around 150 lbs @ $3.39. I have just ordered a 1/2 of cow to be butchered costing $1,000 - $1,100 average out to $2.79 a pound for ribeye, t-bone,filet , sirlion roasts, hanburger...etc. I am a returning customer that;s HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. read more

WATCH OUT! I was very disappointed in their customer service. We had ordered 80 lbs and were quoted $2.00 lb for turkey legs. When we picked up our order they put the boxes in our truck and over charged me for only two 30 lb boxes. At $2.86 per lb. When I called the manager he stated it was a mistake. One to many if you ask me. First the price was quoted incorrectly and the young lady that took the order requested boxes not lbs. They over charged and like the manger said they can't beat Sams prices. He also stated he wasn't going to lose money or product. They failed to make it right.
