Great location, clean and spacious with nice & friendly staff. Parking can be hassle but if you come when they are open, plenty. Great prices overall, same with foods & drinks. Overall, we enjoyed it well.

Crowded front area. Backed up ticket lines and extremely backed up entrance getting into the theater as 1 person was scanning all tickets.

Ms. Maria Orozco (GM), I hope that you see this to make some necessary changes at this location. We went to see The Hunger Games tonight. Perhaps 2/3 into the movie, we smell smoke/gas/sparks in the theater. People started leaving. Unfortunately, in 2023, when you see a crowd leave, it's wise to leave as well. A manager comes over. We expect him to be a leader. To communicate with the crowd. We only overhear him asking someone on the phone should he evacuate the theater and then he disappears and does not say a word to any of us. There was no plan. No remedy. No nothing. This disturbance interrupted our experience and left many of us perplexed. Many gave up and left. Some returned to the room and others like myself wanted to be comped for the ticket/movie we were unable to finish and it was reasonable to expect perhaps a 2nd ticket for our trouble and inconvenience. What actually occurred? Customers knocking on the box office door and being ignored for quite some time and once we did speak to the assistant manager, we were told that we could only get a refund because that's what Corporate said he could do. Nothing more. He"ll get in trouble. He said Corporate said whatever happened was not the theater's fault so it is what it is. A refund was the best that can be done and you had to have your paper ticket still on you. Preposterous! Once my ticket is scanned, into the garbage it goes. And not the theater's fault? Is this the appropriate position and statement to give to customers in this situation? This kind of chaos and unprofessionalism would never happen at an AMC or Regal. They know how to treat their customers. Here, they have no concept of customer service. It's ridiculous that they made us feel like beggars. I will not be back at this location. The way this situation was handled tonight was unacceptable and abysmal. What if it was a serious emergency? There would have been no leadership or communication on site. This is a very dangerous way to operate. The team on site needs training and empowerment to make wise decisions for different scenarios. This is clearly not the current set up.

This is great because you can strategically make sure there's nobody sitting right in front of you. The seating here hasn't been upgraded to the new recliner seats but they were fine. Be prepared for a full half hour of "pre-entertainment". It's not even previews but trivia, little news stories. Completely unneccessary and it's not increasing their snack sales or anything. Luckily we had just had a huge breakfast so we didn't feel the need to get any snacks. They did have a ton of snacks though - rows of impulse items leading up to the snack bar.

One thing we really liked was the vintage feel of the theater it has a classic charm that you don't find in many newer theaters. That said, we were a little disappointed that the seats did not recline. Since ticket prices are similar to other theaters in the area, we would probably choose to drive a little farther next time for recliner seating. My fiancé has back issues, so sitting in a non-reclining chair for the length of a movie was uncomfortable for him. On the positive side, the concession portions were huge. We ordered a popcorn, a Coke, and some candy, and we were very happy with the size and value. One thing to note is that the restrooms are located on the mezzanine level, which may not be the most convenient for everyone. Overall, the theater has a nice nostalgic atmosphere and generous concession sizes, but the seating and parking were not our favorite parts of the experience.

This review is mainly for the new popcorn chicken. Delicious *for movie theater food*. We never ate at movie theaters because the food tasted like school lunch but this popcorn chicken was at least one step above that :) It only comes in maybe a total of 20 small thumbpad sized bites so be warned. You will not get full from one box. We finished the popcorn chicken within 5 minutes of sitting down, and that's with us eating slowly. Still a good choice if we're not feeling actual popcorn! We got there before our 6:10 movie to grab concessions and ordered very basic items... french fries, nachos, popcorn, and drinks. Somehow it still took about 15-20 minutes just to get fries and chips with cheese. I can understand fries taking some time, but waiting that long for nachos honestly made no sense. It seemed like our order had been forgotten about until we finally asked again. To the employee's credit, he did apologize and gave us two free movie tickets to try to make up for it, which I appreciated. He did his best to handle the situation professionally. The theater itself feels older and a little awkwardly set up. I understand it's in Newport Beach across from Fashion Island, but there are definitely nicer and more updated theaters around. There are a few major issues with this theater complex that make going here a massive headache,…read moremostly starting before you even walk through the front doors. The Parking Nightmare: 10-Minute Limits: The main issue here is the parking layout. About 95% of the parking spaces are strictly designated as 10-minute parking, which makes absolutely no sense for a movie theater. The Empty Valet Lot: They have an entire massive section of the lot completely blocked off and closed for a valet service. The kicker? The valet is never even present. It's just a giant, empty, wasted lot sitting right next to the theater for no reason while regular customers struggle to find a spot. Lack of Accessibility: There are only two handicap parking spaces for the entire complex, which is completely unacceptable for a venue of this size. The Theater & Amenities: Online Fees: On top of the parking hassle, they tack on extra fees just for buying your tickets online. Peeling D-Box Seats: I paid extra to get the D-Box seats, but the material on them was completely peeling. Lack of Reinvestment: The theater itself works fine and does what a theater should do, but I feel like a company this big should be reinvesting their money much better into the actual quality of the facility. Final Verdict: Three stars because it gets the job done as a basic theater, but between the non-existent practical parking, the online fees, and the worn-out upgraded seating, they really need to improve the overall experience.
