We wanted the camping experience. But Yosemite is difficult for camping reservations so we went this route. And I have to say it added to the entire Yosemite trip. A couple downsides. One, is that it's an hour from the central hub of Yosemite. And when you consider how crazy finding parking can be in Yosemite right now that is a pretty serious negative if I'm honest. But. It's a gorgeous drive. Two, you have to use wagons to haul your gear to your space. We luckily were not very far, but it did take us several trips. And lastly, I really wish that the bathrooms for the tents was separate from the clubhouse. Basically the bathrooms for the pool and the clubhouse and the adventure tents are all one and the same. Would've liked the adventure tents to have their own bathroom, giving a little more privacy. There were several events while we stayed there (I do think it's a cool place to have an event or even a wedding), but the people from the events were constantly coming in and out of the bathrooms. Shared bathrooms aren't my favorite to begin with. Trying to take a shower while event goers are popping in and out... Not my fave. All that said, I really enjoyed the vibe of the place overall. Some of the air streams and cabins are situated on a cute little pond.. Aaaaand. The pool made us all happy at the end of the day. The entire staff here is so dog friendly. The clubhouse had really cool little areas. And was very clean. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The clubhouse has a tiny kitchen with a few nibbles. As well as a bar. Highly recommend the margaritas! Pizza was solid as well. Cute little gift shop with some snacks and essentials and souvenirs. I haven't stayed in Curry Village, but we saw it when we did the mist trail and yikes. This place is so much nicer than the tents, the pool, or the facilities there. If you're looking for a glamping/adventure tent situation I would recommend auto camp. We want to check out their location in Sequoia next!

Absolutely amazing experience!…read more Visited for a Saturday evening one night stay in March and was so surprised with all the amazing amenities. The room itself has everything needed: a spacious shower, a sink & toilet with good water pressure, a small fridge and microwave, a kitchen sink, cooking area, a nice bed and a couch that opens up and can fit one more person on there. Got an unexpected upgrade whe checked in and the room was in a more secluded area so that was nice! The common area was so nice and useful: coffee, meals, swings, couches, anything one might need. There was even a free yoga class with high quality yoga mats provided on Sundays, and every day there is a scheduled event. Even the pathways with numbers for the rooms were lit up so to be found easier. Ordered a pizza set (includes 2 pizzas) and it was tasty, with an over offered to us. Each AutoCamp car/bus has an outside area with a table, chairs, and a bench. The atmosphere was so serene, truly a great place. Also pet friendly! Location: 1 hour away from the Yosemite National Park but pretty okay distance considering the other options. Loved it so much that will visit other AutoCamp locations.

WARNING: TOURIST TRAP WITH FRAUDULENT PRACTICES, APPALLING HYGIENIC CONDITIONS, AND DISMAL…read moreMANAGEMENT! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Rating: 0/5 I am forced to write this review not because of the trip itself, which was wonderful, but due to the nightmare experience we endured at the Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort. If you are looking for a pleasant stay, run away from this place. Here are the cold, hard facts, backed by proof, leaving absolutely zero room for their "excuses." 1. UNILATERAL AND FRAUDULENT CHARGE FOR LACK OF MAINTENANCE The absolute lowest point of my stay was a whopping $200 charge on my credit card, processed unilaterally and completely outside of the official Booking.com channel. Their "justification"? Alleged damage to a screen door. The truth is quite different: the screen door in question was dilapidated, flimsy, and worn out--clear proof that these accommodations are far from luxury and that maintenance is nonexistent. It broke loose simply because my TWO-YEAR-OLD son leaned gently against it. Instead of taking care of the mandatory and long-overdue maintenance of such outdated structures, this resort prefers to extortionately overcharge its guests. I have received no receipt, invoice, or any proof regarding the withheld amount. This is a fraudulent and predatory practice, aimed at extracting money without any paper trail. 2. UNLIVABLE CONDITIONS AND APPALLING FILTH The accommodation turned out to be an absolute living hell. Although air conditioning was explicitly listed among the amenities at the time of booking, the facility completely lacked it. It was literally suffocatingly hot. As a substitute, we were provided with a fan that was not only completely useless at cooling the room, but also incredibly loud and caked in dirt. To make matters worse, the hygienic conditions were embarrassing: we found dead bugs inside the tent, and the floors were so filthy that after walking barefoot for just a few minutes, our socks were completely stained pitch black. A total lack of respect for the most basic hygiene standards. 3. SHAMEFUL MANAGEMENT AND UTTER DISRESPECT FOR FAMILIES Despite booking a full 6 months in advance, we were assigned a unit located in an impossible position for a family. To reach the nearest restroom, we had to climb a staggering 70 steps. How can a property assign such an accommodation to a family with two children, including a two-year-old, along with a stroller and heavy luggage? It shows an absolute lack of common sense and basic respect for guests, especially those who book half a year ahead precisely to avoid such hardships. When I pointed out the issue at check-in, the receptionist rudely brushed me off, stating "we are fully booked"--which I highly doubt given my advance reservation. CONCLUSION: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort does not deserve even a single star. Their financial practices are sketchy and potentially fraudulent, cleanliness is nonexistent, the amenity descriptions are misleading, and their room assignment logic is absurd. Do not let the location fool you: this is a terrible place that you must avoid if you want to protect the peace of your vacation. N.B. to the owner: I have read your aggressive and defensive replies to other negative reviews. Do not even bother responding to this one. The facts stated here are fully documented (including photos, dirty socks, and official communications). Your words will not change the unacceptable experience we had, nor the money you wrongfully took from us. Save your energy and use it to scrub your floors and repair your decaying property instead of attacking the customers whose vacation you ruined.

But even better, we ordered take out food every evening and brought it up to the patio to enjoy al fresco dining and wine. It's a one bedroom upstairs rental completely off the beaten path of the Yosemite Valley area. You aren't surrounded by any noisy traffic or other noisy campers, your neighbors are local exotic birds, Princess kitty, occasional deer and numerous area insects (so remember to bring the bug spray and bracelets) and best of all, Gary & Rickey-the hosts of Juniper Crest (their names sound like a couple of owners for a surf shop, right?) The rental was perfect for our needs, came with complimentary snacks (you don't get that at the Hyatt or Ritz), a movie collection, a private pool, free parking and best of all awesome conversation with Gary & Rickey. At least twice since we have been home my son has said how much he misses them both. We watched the eclipse together and drank wine under the stars. You won't have people who care about you at the Ritz, Hyatt, St. Regis or any InterContinental Hotel like they do here. They were interested in getting to know us just as much as we were interested in getting to know them. Oh yeah, and we also saw this wonderful, majestic national park called, Yosemite ;-) I highly recommend this rental. Thanks Gary & Rickey. We'll be back to see you all again one day.

We were booked in suite 5, which does NOT look anything like the room shown on the website. It is old, dark and dingy. Even the front door lock was loose (as mentioned by another reviewer). I had made the reservations for my friend and me, and when we walked into suite 5, we both just deflated at how junky it looked. I wanted to show my friend how it didn't look anything like the website, but their internet didn't work at all until the next morning. The outdoor area is not lit up and welcoming, but dark and deserted. We made the best of it for that night, and in the morning, I contacted the owner via text. When I said that the room looked nothing like the rooms shown on the website, the reply was, "All of our rooms are different." So why don't they show photos of all of their rooms??? They offered to move us to another room, and I requested one that looks like the one on the website. They instructed me to find the key for suite 1, and that room was great! Looked just like the website, and was exactly what we were expecting. It was weird that this room was not rented out, but yet they didn't put us in that room in the first place. I later learned that we were charged $199 for the first night junky room, and $109 for the second night room that looked like the one on the website. That was contrary to what I remembered from the price listing on the website when I made the reservation, which I believe was $159 per night. But when you receive your confirmation email, there are no prices listed at all. I know it comes out to the same price, but it's very strange that the price/total isn't listed on your confirmation email. I would have asked if I had noticed it before we arrived. I really wanted to like this inn, but next time, I'll just stay in the heated cabins in Yosemite Valley for $155/night. The one-hour drive to the valley from this place wasn't worth it for us. If you're going to stay here, ask them specifically what room you will be in and if it's one that looks like the ones on the website. If not, consider staying elsewhere. Positive: the cafe is super cute with great coffee and food and nice people!

We were able to hike in Yosemite using the YARTS bus system ($30 round trip) & came home to a freshly made bed & homemade cookies every night after hiking all day. Liz made us a delicious breakfast at 8:30am (although she did ask if we wanted it earlier) & we caught the YART into the park at 9:15- hiking by 10am. Our hosts were fantastic, the room (top floor) was HUGE & definitely cool- even on a 95 degree day (those other reviews are ridiculous- Liz had no issues keeping us comfortable- in both AC use & shade for breakfast). On the last day of our trip the YART busses didn't show up for our trip back & Ron rescued us from the park late at night (we were literally stranded in Yosemite). I will say If you are in your 20s, looking to party this isn't the place for you. If you are a recluse not wanting to socialize, this isn't the place for you. But If you have 4 kids & plan on leaving them at home- this is totally worth it. In every aspect. My husband & I played scrabble at night with white claws & listened to the river... we slept in... someone else cooked for us...we hiked all day & came home to a cozy bed & friendly faces. Ron & Liz are definitely "chatty" as some have mentioned in other reviews, but you're staying in their home- so we felt it was all apart of the B&B adventure/experience. The room itself felt small and crowded compared to the other hotels we stayed at. The check-in took a while due to only one person working the desk. Our biggest issue was the "drive-through breakfast" that was advertised. The cottage sits on a hill, so the view is magnificent from the yard, as you can see from my photo. It has been a rental for less than a year (according to the guest book). Everything is absolutely meticulous. Being the clean freak that I am, I appreciated the gleaming laminate floors in the common areas, tiles in the bathrooms, and the plush the berber carpeting in the bedrooms. Our bare feet and socks never picked up any dirt, unless we dragged it in ourselves. The cottage is equipped with everything you need, such as hair dryer, iron+board, laundry baskets, cleaning supplies, napkins, paper towels, spices, plastic containers+ bags, coffee grinder+maker, satellite tv/dvd player, too many to list. He's really on the ball with every detail of the rental, so you'll never be confused about directions, access, and even activities in the park. Also, he works as a Yosemite National Park guide...another bonus for first time visitors. Just one warning, though. He has lots of information to offer, so be prepared for lengthy descriptions of sites and activities. Ah, another warning, this one about 140. There is a stretch of 140 close to the park that is only one lane traffic due to the landslide of 2006. I realize our access in and out of park was easy in the off season, but I anticipate the traffic flow and wait times during the high season to be quite different.
