My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of Lois and John. The breakfast was exquisite with a full spread of all that could be desired and both made for wonderful conversation with their local knowledge and community ties. My daughter especially loved the pool which was quite refreshing in the hot summer climate and the property itself is spacious and natural cut from the edges of Yosemite! I'm not even going to tell you what Jon and Lois did for us so it doesn't skew your expectations! They went so above and beyond what you would expect from a B&B. It was extremely clean, comfortable, room was exactly what we needed for a birthday weekend near other family. Location was a huge plus for us as it was a 5 min drive to my mom's. This bed and breakfast was over and beyond all expectations. Lois and jean were amazing owners and hosts really catering to everyone's needs. Lois is an amazing cook and baker, we stayed here for a week and every morning we had completely new breakfast dishes than the morning before. Every morning we had a variety of juices, coffee and tea with a two course break. Everything was amazing!!! It filled my boyfriend and I up for the day when we would hike in yosemite. Also, they would always pack us a to go pack for our hikes, which was the best. I would definitely recommend coming here. The rooms are nice the spacious as well. The beds were comfortable, really no complaints! The drive is about an hour outside of yosemite but totally worth it!! The property is beautiful and we'll kept, our room was always clean and never had any issues. Go here! read more

The Restful Nest was such a wonderful unexpected stay. We had a change in plans and Lois and Jon we extremely accommodating to our needs. The location was great for accessing Yosemite the next day. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The grounds were quiet and beautiful. All of this was such a pleasure but nothing can compare the breakfast that Lois and Jon prepared and served. Everything was fresh and delicious. Also, there was so much food I don't think I was hungry the rest of the day! Wow! Is all I can say about my visit to Mariposa. Lois and John are wonderful hosts. Lois is a fabulous cook and set's a formal table with the biggest FULL breakfast I have ever seen in a B&B. We used the hot tub and the swimming pool at the end of a long day in Yosemite National Park. They made us a goodie bag each day and loaned us some binoculars for Yosemite too. It's quiets on their 10 acres. We stayed int the carriage house above the garage which sleeps 6 comfortably but there were only two of us. Very clean! very Beautiful! Very comfortable! And the hosts were wonderful! They even invited our daughter to eat with us as she was passing through! Thanks for that Lois! I would definitely go back for some of this down home, family style, kind of living. 2 thumbs up (WAY UP) for each of us. read more

We didn't know much about Yosemite when we went there earlier this week. Hadn't been there in 35 years. Turns out we could've been closer, but we couldn't have chosen a more interesting B & B. The food and the hospitality are what really stand out here. Host Lois knows how to get along with anybody, and knows her way around a kitchen like nobody else! Breakfast is at 8 am and stretches until 9 or so. The delicious dishes just keep on coming. I'm difficult to cook for, since I'm allergic to both milk and wheat. Astonishingly, she made accommodations, cooking gluten-free brownies (fabulous!), gluten-free pancakes, and even going out and buying my brand of gluten-free bread! Don't expect to lose weight here! The accommodations themselves are fine. A 10-minute drive outside of Mariposa, but the rusticness is nice. And the drive from Mariposa to Yosemite Village is 70 minutes or so. But the lodges and motels along Highway 149 looked pretty standard, and when we stopped at one and ate dinner there, the food was pretty forgettable. read more

What an amazing place to stay and eat!! The accommodations here are amazing. So clean and comforting. Rooms are spacious and very well kept. Lois is an amazing cook and a wonderful host. The breakfast they serve is no less than spectacular. They make sure all culinary restrictions are taken care of. The food never stops coming. Jon is so entertaining. We were laughing the whole time at breakfast. He is also very knowledgeable about what to see around the property. Also watching him feed the local deer is amazing. Pool, hot-tub and deer, foxes, bats, every day by the porch ... And a fabulous and huge home cooked breakfast every day at 8am. Super hospitable and working to cater to you every need, our host surely love their job. Able to cater to all diets, gluten free, vegan, etc .. Thanks so much!!! It's about a 1hr drive to the park gate, and longer to the main features, but we manages just fine!! Today was 2hrs each way to the amazing Glacier point, but well worth the trip and we also hiked to Sentinel Dome which was the highlight of Yosemite for me. read more

Lois and Jon were so loving and kind. After a three day stay we felt as if we stayed with an Aunt and Uncle we had never met. I love these people. They really are happy and authentic. Be prepared to eat! The guest house was the perfect retreat for our first anniversary. The deer each morning and evening were a delight. We totally lucked out during our first Yosemite trip back in March! Lois and Jean are such wonderful, sweet and caring hosts! Lois makes delicious meals and had separate options for those w/ special diets/allergies. She even packed us snack bags that reenergized us throughout our day-long hikes! When they learned my fiancee will be proposing during our day out in Yosemite, Lois and Jean surprised us with cake and flowers (thank you!!). True to the name, our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids aged 4 & 7) spent a restful overnight at Jon and Lois' B&B, the Restful Nest. Our room had a trundle for the kids and queen bed with a very good mattress for us adults. Saggy mattresses are so awful and this was the exact opposite. So important to have good beds, peace and quiet for restful sleep ahead of another adventurous day in Yosemite. We arrived nighttime and were happily surprised by the expansive grounds the next morning. We were sorry that we couldn't use the pool. Like all other reviews have reported, breakfast was a feast. Not sure how many courses, I practically felt bad that Jon and Lois woke up At the crack of dawn to prepare fruits, pastries, bacon,Spanish omelette, egg tortilla, and seared pork loin for us. It was unusual but so fun to sit with Jon and Lois over breakfast to hear stories about other guests and get pointers on the area. It has been a memorable stay. I sure hope we would have the chance to return! read more
