You've gotta stay here. Everyone mentions Mary because she's absolutely awesome. Yes, the rooms are baroque but that's the entire point of this place. It's out of this time and totally unique. Of corse, one of the best parts is that you can eat your meals or enjoy a drink on the excellent 3rd floor patio. It does her evening sun so breakfast and/or after dusk drinks are best. Seriously, it's not to be missed. Enjoy. If you're looking for a standard chain hotel, this isn't for you.

Great little gem of a hotel "near" Yosemite in the heart of Mariposa an "old western town" where any minute one could expect cowboys storming into town yelling and shooting bullets into the air :) (the nearest town we could find anyway, about an hour's drive from the park). Our room was spacious with an equally spacious bathroom. The shower wasn't much to write home about but I think it's because of water conservation in California in general. We appreciated the air conditioning in our room especially when it was in the 90's and humid outside even at night. The free WiFi was great to have as well. The room wasn't the cheapest around but in July in Yosemite high-season it's kind of expected. There was "breakfast" included in the room with decent OJ, bananas, muffins, tea and "coffee" (note the quotation marks: it's not what I would call "breakfast" nor "coffee".) I had to shave off a star because there was a loud live band playing in the bar below well past 10 pm on a Saturday night. Not good. Just know what you may be potentially in for especially if you want to go to bed early.

The hotel is upstairs in this 100+ year old building

Clean, comfortable, and friendly at a reasonable price. Rooms have a cute, old-timey character.

After booking our stay this time, we called with a few questions and were given helpful information from a couple friendly receptionists. Once we arrived, check-in was quick, and much appreciated since we were exhausted from hiking all day in Yosemite. We hadn't been to The Miner's Inn for over 10 years and we were pleasantly surprised to see the updated room that we received. It was nice and clean, had fantastic amenities (fireplace, jetted tub, and a larger than usual mini fridge), and the bed was comfortable for our stay. The breakfast offers plenty of wonderful options for all of the varied needs in our family. During our stay they had: waffles, toast/English muffin, biscuits & gravy, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, juice etc. it was always the perfect way to get started before an active day. We always travel there with a cooler and they had plenty of ice available as well. We prefer to take the 140 to enter Yosemite, so this gem before our drive along the Merced makes for the perfect stay!

The staff was kind and accommodating--they made sure we were on the bottom floor to help with our mom's mobility needs, which we really appreciated. We also got lucky with a parking spot right in front of our door, which made things easier, though there was only one official ADA space, located by the office--not near the rooms. The room itself felt small and crowded compared to the other hotels we stayed at. The check-in took a while due to only one person working the desk. Our biggest issue was the "drive-through breakfast" that was advertised. There were no signs, no setup, and no instructions--nothing to suggest breakfast was actually happening, and no one explained it during check-in. We ended up missing it completely. It's a decent stay if you just need a clean place to sleep, but if you're counting on clear amenities or reliable accessibility, this location may fall short.

We were booked in suite 5, which does NOT look anything like the room shown on the website. It is old, dark and dingy. Even the front door lock was loose (as mentioned by another reviewer). I had made the reservations for my friend and me, and when we walked into suite 5, we both just deflated at how junky it looked. I wanted to show my friend how it didn't look anything like the website, but their internet didn't work at all until the next morning. The outdoor area is not lit up and welcoming, but dark and deserted. We made the best of it for that night, and in the morning, I contacted the owner via text. When I said that the room looked nothing like the rooms shown on the website, the reply was, "All of our rooms are different." So why don't they show photos of all of their rooms??? They offered to move us to another room, and I requested one that looks like the one on the website. They instructed me to find the key for suite 1, and that room was great! Looked just like the website, and was exactly what we were expecting. It was weird that this room was not rented out, but yet they didn't put us in that room in the first place. I later learned that we were charged $199 for the first night junky room, and $109 for the second night room that looked like the one on the website. That was contrary to what I remembered from the price listing on the website when I made the reservation, which I believe was $159 per night. But when you receive your confirmation email, there are no prices listed at all. I know it comes out to the same price, but it's very strange that the price/total isn't listed on your confirmation email. I would have asked if I had noticed it before we arrived. I really wanted to like this inn, but next time, I'll just stay in the heated cabins in Yosemite Valley for $155/night. The one-hour drive to the valley from this place wasn't worth it for us. If you're going to stay here, ask them specifically what room you will be in and if it's one that looks like the ones on the website. If not, consider staying elsewhere. Positive: the cafe is super cute with great coffee and food and nice people!

I had my door propped open to cool off the room with the night air and a stray cat waltzed right in. It didn't stay long, but it was a cute and funny encounter. Is the cat part of the staff? If so, it deserves a raise!
