I'm sorry to report this, as I have a multi-year relationship with this company after acquiring a sophisticated home AV system with a nearly commercial WiFi component as well. They let me down . . . not from the service side, as Jason is great. But from the sales side, they are horrible. And I mean, really really bad. That's because they recommend and sell brands like URC, where the (expensive) equipment lasts about 6 months, and where they don't even support you on warranties. I've got nearly $2K in URC remote stations sitting here inoperative because they won't support me. I spent nearly $5K on an extended warranty as well, and yet URC was complete garbage. Other dealerships laugh and blame Starpower for selling that kind of "utter garbage" and recommend quality brands like Control4 or Savant. So, the message here is don't trust the salesmen, just go with national/international reviews on brands and then select a dealer who has a good reputation and who sells those brands you've selected. I made the mistake of allowing them into my home and just buying what they recommended. Never again. read more

Horribly run business. Their customer service is exceptionally poor. Left at least 3 messages for the store manager to return my phone call. No response. We are a small residential customer. I spent about 10k putting in a wireless internet system and URC(awful) audio control system. Hasn't worked as described from day 1 in 2019. Multiple service calls by guys who are not experts with the equipment. I'm a well trained expert in my field, I can quickly determine if someone knows their field of study. I don't frequently write reviews, but this company needs help promoting where they excel, poor customer service and outlandish pricing. If you are interested in either of those qualities give them a call! Plenty of other options for home audio video in the Scottsdale/Phoenix markets!! read more

One star because the installation guy was helpful and courteous. If I could give zero stars I would. Security system is a joke and the app is absolutely horrible. Save yourself a LOT of money and get Arlo cams or any other brand. They have better real time notifications and the app is way more reliable. After expressing our dissatisfaction with the whole system and the conflicting info from sales to install, no one ever followed up or offered any resolution except to send tech back out, which did nothing. I purchased what was supposed to be a brand new SVS PB 3000 here. While in packing I noticed the sub was in the box upside down. After more unpacking I find a scratch, it's on the bottom no big deal. Then a chip, and another, then there's no power cord. They obviously sold me a used sub as new, probably their floor model or a return. Use Acoustic Design instead!!! I'll be calling SVS for a resolution first thing Monday morning. Star power was going to bring out a power cord and give $100 off a future purchase.... lol never going here again! read more

These guys are idiots! First off, try not to even enter the store. If you do, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION about you. They will simply harass the crap out of you with endless spam! When I did try to hire them, they wouldn't return phone calls or email. They'll say everything you want to hear, and do the complete opposite. There are only a very few businesses I use exclusively for products and services. Starpower is one of those select few and I only do business with Ron Kushner. Ron and I have worked together as client / consultant for 15 years through several home theater systems and multiple homes. I would not use another company nor would I buy from another sales consultant. If you want "cheap", buy from Best Buy. If you want cost effective with the highest of quality, buy from Ron at Starpower. read more

We used Starpower to install a network for us 4.5 years ago. It never worked quite right. We had them come out subsequently with no solution presented using out existing equipment. We decided to try one more time with them. We had them come out last week, and the company insisted on having us fill out a form to allow them to come and charging a $199 service visit fee. The technician told us when he arrived that he had reset the network remotely. So this is something that Starpower could have done for us but never offered or done as a matter of routine. The reset has actually made things worse. In addition, they knew from their offices that the router we have now was not a gigabyte router, but they did not tell us until they arrived. They could have told us on the phone before coming out that we would not get gigabyte speeds with the router they previously installed. read more

This is a follow up. I received a call from Craig Brown VP indicating I would receive loaner equipment following my ~$2K purchase on 11/17/18. I actually received my stand, the loaner TV and my sound bar today...6 days shy of 1 month. The stand pieces, weighing ~ 200 lbs, were left on my living room floor unassembled. Here's the main issue - product purchased on 11/17/18 has not been delivered in its entirety. I rec'd today, 12/11, the sound bar and the TV stand in pieces on my living room floor. The loaner TV, also on the living room floor with no instruction manual provided. When I called to tell the salesman I cannot put a 250 lb stand together, he said, "well, you wanted to save money". NO, that is not what I wanted to do. I didn't want to waste money when I was told it was plug and play. I'm not sure where the positive reviews are coming from. My $2.5K purchase is, apparently, under their radar and, therefore, undeserving of courtesy and respect. read more

I have used this place for several years and paid them thousands of dollars to set up my previous two houses. However if you ever need any type of service follow up they won't even talk to you or come out to inspect without charging you $200. I have left messages with the owner David Pigeon and the head of sales Craig Brown and got zero response. I asked for a complementary quote and again zero response. I have called several times and unless I give them a credit card they have no interest in even helping me. The last time I paid them to come out they spent 15 mins only to tell me they couldn't help me without replacing a tv. They wouldn't even give me a credit for that visit. Horrible horrible customer service. I use to rate this place a 5 and had recommended them to many friends but now they don't even deserve a 1 rating. My advice is use someone that has some customer service after you spend your money instead of continue to ignore valued customers they have had like me for years.. Starpower is just okay. Not great, not awful, just ok. I really didn't spend a lot of money with them and maybe that's why the experience wasn't so great. But wait, aren't all customers important? Who knows what I might say to my friends, what I might need in the future? My first purchase was for Apple TV. We went to Starpower because the system we have was installed by Tweeter which is now out of business. We wanted to make sure everything worked together properly. The Apple TV installation was okay, but they accidentally unhooked the connection to the outside speakers. No problem, I just pulled out the receiver and hooked it back up. Next we discovered we needed a new universal remote. Luckily Starpower sells the same brand as the one we had worn out so we were in luck. They ordered the unit, but it took several follow-up calls to find out it was in. When I went to pick up the remote they hadn't programmed it. Initially they told me it was no problem to program it since the tech had recently been out to install the Apple TV and could just download the programming from his computer. Well that didn't work out. Ultimately I had to drop off the old remote for the day so they could program the new one. Not such a big deal, but somewhat inconvenient. The three-star review stems from two things: 1) We wanted to watch a DVD a couple nights ago, something we rarely do, and now the movie doesn't show up on screen. So I guess we need to get them out AGAIN. 2) Several times when I stopped in the store one of the employees that waited on me initially kept trying to "avoid" me. And yes, I was always nice to them. Don't know why, this was just odd. I guess if you're going to walk in and spend $5,000 or more with them it's probably okay. If you need a piece here or there and are just spending $1,000 (like us) you might want to go somewhere else. read more

I tried ordering a $6000 AV Receiver from Starpower last week and was told I they could not get me product until end of November at the earliest. I was able to order AV Receiver directly from company having it delivered in 2 days. I did purchased $800 worth of HDMI 48 Gbps cables from Starpower this past Friday. I called Starpower today to purchase roughly $500 worth of speaker wire and sales associates became snarky with me because I did not purchase AV Receiver from Starpower. He told me to F off and said purchase my speaker wire elsewhere. He was butt hurt because I didn't wait until end of November to get the AV Receiver from Starpower. I will be returning my HDMI cables and never purchasing from Starpower ever again. read more

Update -- I was also looking to upgrade my 8yr old Velodyne subwoofer to a newer model, and while StarPower are not a 100% dealer, they were able to come close to internet pricing and offer me same 1yr as cash deal, and give me {near} local dealer support, so again, good job helping a local customer support local business[es]. I am a very experienced Home Theater guy, having gone to Film School and had high end components for many years now. As before the folks did know their and other, products and so this was a good experience. read more

I'm not sure who voted Starpower #1 in service in Arizona, but I am not impressed. They cut some speaker wire for me that was the wrong length, when I went back to get the correct length they charged me for the new wire and said that they cut it right the first time clearly they hadn't. read more

I have been looking for a new tv for some time now to put in the living room downstairs. I knew what I wanted, it was just a matter of finding it at the right price and getting my questions answered about it to help ensure it was the set that I was truly looking for. Starpower is in the same strip mall as Whole Foods at the other end of the parking lot. The windows are tinted out so it is hard to tell what they have going on if you are driving or walking by. I stopped in and immediately knew I was in the right place. Behind the sales desk up front is a 120 inch set hanging right on the wall and nothing but televisions and home theater equipment throughout the rest of the store. This isn't a big box shop, this is a home theater specialty store, without the specialty prices. In fact after speaking with the very helpful Brad in sales I was able to get a deal that price matched both best buy and ultimate. It was a very easy conversation and at no point did I feel pressured to go with any one tv. In fact Brad took his time answering my questions and giving some great feedback on the differences between the set that I was looking at and a couple of relatively similar sets. He didn't try to hype up 3D (which I wasn't going to buy anyways) or any other crazy technologies for that matter. After getting a great price on the television that Brad had to call in from a different store due to its popularity and availability, we set a date for installation. Roughly a week later Mike and John came to install the television which was no easy task. They mounted it to the wall, ran all the wires behind the wall, installed and connected the tv to my home theater and then took the time to explain the connections and buttons I would have to press for various functions. Their work is extremely clean and looks absolutely amazing. The tv and all the components fit in the niche better than expected and they were able to get the job done in only a few hours. Mike also told me if I change any components or if I get the hdmi out cable box from Cox that he would be happy to come back out and reset any of the connections or any other issues that might arise. All and all I couldn't be happier with the service, professionalism, and overall experience with everyone I have dealt with so far at Starpower. In fact I am going to hire them for a second job here in the next couple of weeks. Do not be scared that they are not best buy or wal-mart or any other big box shop. These guys know their products, will take care of you, and will make you happier at the end of the day with your purchase from them. read more

They took this frustrating problem, and found a resolution between themselves and Sony. As of tonight, my brother is watching a new tv, which was set up this morning. I'm so very impressed that this was resolved so quickly, after all this time. THANK YOU! What you've done is so appreciated, and you've gone above and beyond. If there were more than 5 stars, you three would get every single one of them. You were most definitely my brothers favorite Santa this year. Edit 12/22/16 - WOW! They've already lost a couple of sales from my circle, and I will do my best to make sure they lose even more from my husbands very large company, my son's engineering firm and everyone I come in contact with. Go to COSTCO, Sam's Club of even Best Buy, they've never let me down and actually stand behind their products AND warranties. Almost 7 years ago I purchased a home entertainment center and with that purchase I bought a 5 year protection policy for the 65" TV purchased along with the rest of the home system. This policy was a very expensive at $599.99 but I was told if I did not have to use it for any TV repairs within that 5 year period I would receive a rebate of a percentage of the policy. I believe it was for 80% back. I was never given any paperwork other than a receipt on the policy which on the receipt was "Starguard 5yr.Prot. $599.99. (This policy is no longer sold by them). Last year I approached one of the salespeople (my original salesperson was no longer with the store) and asked about a rebate on that policy as I hadn't needed any TV repairs. I was told after a number of day wait that I had repairs needed on another part of the home system and that policy covered the whole home system, not just the TV and they had had to come out to repair some other part of the system. So I was not entitled to any rebate. I finally talked to corporate offices in Dallas, Tx. today about the protection policy and was abruptly told to talk to the Scottsdale people about it and they in Dallas had nothing to do with it. So I'm at a stalemate. I guess I can take them to small claims court but if I have no Written policy My opinion would be that the court would through it out. I will say I have experienced good service with them but I sure would not buy any extended warranty with them. I will also add that the person I talked to in Dallas headquarters was very very rude and short with me. I may very well go to Best Buy for any other purchases unless I can get this problem straightened out with Starpower here in Scottsdale. read more

We had a number of technical issues involving general hook ups and integrating an older digital sound system with some new, digital components. Also needed to contend with all different types of connectors, ie: RCA, HDMI. I was not optimistic that there even was a solution to all of the issues we were facing. Alan Gelfenbaum and his technicians at Starpower made suggestions and came out to our house to look at the system. The bottom line is that ALL of these problems were resolved ! I found Al and his team to be very professional and a pleasure to work with - - - I think this kind of experience is a rarity these days. read more

We bought a television, sound bar, and DVD player. Our sales person, Dustin was awesome and spent a good deal of time explaining the features of the equipment and best fit for our needs. The installation guys did a great job, as well as showing us how to use the special features that integrate on my iPhone. Worst experience with a contracted company I have ever experienced. This is my first social media review I have ever done! Even Food poisoning from a restaurant has never compelled me to disgrace a restaurant. But after my experience with Starpower, which I contracted to upgrade my home during a major remodel went and has repeatedly gone so bad-- I feel it is my duty to warn others from making the same mistake I did in using this completely horrible company! We have used Starpower for our A/V needs for our last three moves in Arizona and they have always done an outstanding job for us. We have dealt with Ron Kushner whom we followed from another A/V store that went out of business. He has always anticipated our A/V needs and gotten us answers when we needed them. Just moved into a house that had some leftover audio equipment. I went to Star Power to find out what might work with what I had. Ron, the sales manager, was very helpful in giving me options, though he did say what he thought was the best way to go. I was a bit concerned since his recommendation involved using internet based (Sonos) music rather than CDs, etc. and my wife is a bit of a technophobe. He assured me the system was simple to use and that it was going to be much better than the old-fashioned components. I also wanted them to install the system by New Year's eve (I went in early/mid-December) and he said he would try very hard to make that happen. I got a call from him the morning of New Year's Eve day telling me the installers would be at my house within the hour. Jason, the lead installer, was terrific. He had the system up and running in a bit over an hour (which included having to put in a new wall mounted volume control in one room). He then explained how to use it, which took no time at all. Everything was done in less time than was originally budgeted, which saved some money. The system works great and my technophobe wife loves it and has absolutely no problem working it. The total of my purchase (equipment and labor) was under $2000 so it was not a big ticket item for them. Nevertheless, I felt like I got excellent service and am very happy with the results. read more

Our Sales Rep is Ron. We've been with Ron for 10 years. Ron's expertise keeps us around. He's informative and knowledgable. Regarding the installers...for years we used one person, Mike. Mike was sent when I was not satisfied with a previous installer's work from a different company. Mike arrived and fixed the problem. He did some rewiring and correctly programmed our remote. Mike no longer works at Starpower. Yesterday Josh and Bobby were sent to handle our installation job. Many wires and components yet Josh and Bobby were very efficient. The two of them worked together like a finely tuned machine. The job was done in less than two hours. They mounted the television exactly where I wanted it. In fact, they used blue tape to outline the location for the television to make sure it was where I wanted it placed. Josh and Bobby - Thank you for the efficient home theater installation. Stay away from this place! They missed two appointments to install a home theatre in our new home. First it was a no-call-no-show and only after we called them did we find out that they weren't coming. The second time they let us know late the night before that they couldn't come to do the work as promised. When they finally showed up (on the 3rd try) after only a short time here they let me know that the work would require 50% more money than their original quote. We kicked them out and demanded our refund. Unfortunately we still don't have our refund and the manager of the Scottsdale store (Hank) can't even tell me when I will get my money back. I live in Nebraska and had been in the market for a high end OLED TV for awhile, I was just saving and price watching before I pulled any triggers. The TV I had decided on (LG G6 OLED) was extremely new, released for only a few weeks and highly expensive. Needless to say I had decided but was short on funds so another month or so of saving was in order. Not a single local store was able to give me any information on the tv, in fact im not sure of any place in Nebraska with the tv on display. I happened across Starpower and contacted a sales associate named Ben who was immediately aware of the tv and even informed me of a weekend sale which would save me $1360 on the TV. Saving 10% on a newly released high end tv is a great deal. Sadly I did not have the full amount available during the 2 day sale but Ben promised he could work with me to hold the price (with a holding payment of course) until i had the full amount. I was wary ordering the tv from out of state but with some verifications on both ends Ben and I came to terms and all went as planned. They kept me up to date on the status of the order and worked with me on delivery arrangements, they followed up after the delivery to be sure all was well and even sent me a thank you card. My experience was a well informed, caring, and thorough process that showed they wanted to make sure I had the opportunity for the best deal possible with the most comfort during my purchase! I strongly recommend Starpower, and definitely ask for Ben if you need a knowledgable associate with your best interests in mind. Thanks again Ben! read more

We recently relocated here from California. We were pleasantly provided a recommendation from a friend to look into STARPOWER on Mayo Blvd. to install two flat screen tv's on the wall, set up WiFi sound system throughout our home. We have been extremely pleased with the entire process. Starpower has provided outstanding service from start to completion. Ron Kushner, the sales rep, was extremely accommodating and communicated with us consistently throughout. Jason and Kyle need to be commended for their professional installation job. They consistently communicated their arrival time, extremely knowledgeable of their products, the installation, and the manner in which they provided us assistance in managing this system. At the conclusion of each visit, they alway reiterated their availability with any troubleshooting issues and reassured us not to hesitate to call. So less than 2 years ago we purchased a receiver, complete Sonos system and radio remote from Starpower. We just had to replace our TV & did not purchase it from Starpower. We called to ask about paying to have them come out and reinstall and set up the system. They refused to do so. They said that since we didn't buy our new TV from them, they would not set up the equipment we have purchased there. They said 'wish you the best'. How's that for customer service! My wife and I live part-time in the Scottsdale area and have long gone without any television. Seeking to end this situation, we researched some systems and established a budget. We went to Starpower on a Saturday afternoon and were helped by a terrific and knowledgeable salesman who really was quite responsive to our questions and concerns. I am an audiophile, but admit to being a bit behind the times when it comes to the latest home theatre technology. He helped us decide what products would best suit our needs but, even more importantly, his demeanor was at all times professiona and helpful; quite a different situation than most consumers face with 'big box' electronic retailers. Importantly, he did did not try to hard sell us anything. At the end of our session with him, the products we chose were right within our budget. Even more impressive, because they had the items that we chose in stock, they came out to put the system together in our home later that afternoon! They then followed up with a phone call to see if we had any problems and to inquire as to whether or not we were happy with our purchase. Shopping for electronics can be an intimidating task, but we were put at ease by the quality of the sales force, the reasonable range of quality products, and the non-intimidating atmosphere of the Scottsdale store. If you are interested in purchasing a new television or home theatre, we definitely recommend that you stop by Starpower. read more

We were looking to update/upgrade our home theater equipment and were looking to go somewhere other than Best buy. We went to Star Power in Scottsdale and a salesman named Ron helped us. He was very helpful, gave us options, didn't push all the high end equipment but rather recommended equipment that would fit our needs. The installation was great, guys were knowledgeable (almost too knowledgeable). The only complaint was the remote they set up. It was a bit more complicated to operate than we expected. I spoke with Ron a few different times when we could not figure out how to get something to work, and each time he walked me through it. We are very happy with everything. read more
