I have several times referred to Joseph as the Cesar Millan of Dallas and for good reason. My dog Zoey had the most amazing transformation after her 3 week board and train with Happy Paws. Joseph was great about understanding exactly what issues needed to be addressed with my dog and how to handle them, all while be accommodating to my schedule. My dog had pretty severe anxiety that manifested itself into bad walking behavior and destructive tendencies when left alone. After the program she has great walking etiquette, significantly reduced separation anxiety, and is crate trained. Joseph trains not only your dog but also you on how to be a more responsible dog owner and has allowed both me and Zoey to enjoy life more. A truly priceless experience!

Loved Happy Paws so much, we even got some merch to take home with us!

Recently went on a trip to Dallas and took our almost 2 year old Golden Retriever with us and found Happy Paws when we needed to board her for a weekend while we were there and it was SUCH a great experience overall. From the moment we dropped her off, we could tell she'd be in great hands, through the thorough conversations at the start, and the experience matched our expectations. While she is usually a very shy and skidding dog (we typically are apprehensive about boarding her), when we picked her up, she was clearly very comfortable at Happy Paws and almost didn't want to leave. Can't recommend Happy Paws more and only wish we lived closer for our pup, Zoe, to even try out some of the training options available!

I needed someone to watch my 5 year old husky shepherd last minute, and Joseph was very accomodating! He made sure my pup had lots of fun during her stay and she was definitely tired when she returned. Joseph was great at communicating with me. Would definitely reccommend this service!

Joseph is like the dog whisperer and maybe also the human whisperer. The very first session he had my 2 year old pup behaving in a way I've never seen before and had frankly accepted as a lost cause. Joseph goes at the right pace for you and the dog to not overload you but make steady progress each week. And his approach provides a true structural change you and your dog (but mostly you) can continue on after you leave unlike other trainers. Would recommend to anyone with a rambunctious pup like mine!

Joseph is an attentive and patient trainer. He's very knowledgeable and understands how to read the dogs habits, tendencies, and interpret them accordingly. He'll help iron in good habits for your dog, along with giving you tips on how to continue to build good habits. Even after just one session I see plenty of improvement in my 6 month old husky puppy, which plenty of trainers had told me was a notoriously tough breed to train. I highly recommend attending at least one session just to learn and start a foundation for training your dog. This will help you understand the expectations you should have for your dog, and the expectations your dog has of you.

Gilly at work with me. Behaving calmly like a good boy!

I highly recommend Joseph and Happy Paws to anyone with a happy energetic dog that needs to learn when to turn that energy down. Gilly is my service dog, but I was nervous to take him on an airplane because he is/was the most excited dog in the world. He would run up to and jump on any stranger who even glanced his way. This would not fly at the airport. Even though Gilly was certified and helping me out, he still was not in a place where I could calmly walk him through an airport. Not even close. My trip was a month out and I needed help. I was referred to Happy Paws as a company that would be able to put me on an accelerated training program that could get my dog where he needed to be in one month. Joseph trained me as much as he trained Gilly, and it worked! After just a few weeks, I was able to take Gilly on a trip that included multiple flights and long layovers. He behaved the entire time and was even complimented by some of the flight attendants who didn't even notice he was there! Last week at work, multiple people asked me when my dog got so calm. I told them it was when I got him trained by Happy Paws!!!

Mitzy knowing to wait before entering a room

Mitzy and I had one session with Joseph. He was able to see us the same day I reached out to him, as I was concerned about recent behavior. With that one session, I was able to address my concerns immediately. The training session is truly for both the dog and the owner. Joseph explains how you can meet the needs of your dog so that your dog can trust and rely on you, and Vice versa. Mitzy has a strong prey drive and a tendency to jump. Getting Mitzy to sit in a public setting was almost impossible, and I could never even think of not holding her leash. Now I can know that I can trust Mitzy to listen in public, and she trusts me to keep her safe. A huge plus are also all the adorable photos we can take, and the compliments from other people every time we're in public. All of this improvement was after one session and I fully intend to continue training with Joseph.

I contacted Joseph, and within our first session, we already started to see changes in our approach and how our puppy's demeanor changed. He was straightforward and always asked for feedback on how each session went and what we would like to continue to work on for the following week. Our two GSD pups can now be walked calmly and be in the house with our oldest dog and no issues. I will highly recommend to friends and family looking to invest in training your beloved pet.

I was referred to Joseph by a friend for my Australian Shepherd puppy, Kobe. He was great with Kobe from the very first session we had all the way through his board training. Kobe was a tough one to get through and Joseph really helped Kobe with his anxiety and confidence. When I got Kobe back I still had to work with him to keep up his training, but overall he is a much better dog, well behaved and such a great addition to my family. He also taught me how to be a better dog owner and how to deal with my anxiety around Kobe's training. I would recommend him to anyone for puppy training!

Joseph was great with my six month old lab. In minutes he had him walking- NOT pulling on his leash!!! Joseph was knowledgeable and took his time getting to know my dog and figure out what Marco was motivated by and what he needed. Very pleased! And he had great tips for dog friendly spots!!

Joseph went above & beyond to help me with my 8 month old golden retriever puppy, Boone. Boone stayed with him for two weeks for a board & train. I was amazed to see the progress in my pup when he came home. He walks right beside me on the leash & doesn't pull anymore. He follows me & my direction, rather than me doing what he wants. He goes to his place & will stay there for 20 minutes to 2 hours, eat at his place & wait until I tell him to come. His energy level has lowered immensely. He does not command bark anymore either. Truly so thankful for Joseph training Boone and also teaching me! He has guided me how to properly walk Boone, answers every question I have and checks up to see Boone's continued progress. Love telling my friends about Happy Paws!!!

    Truly

I have worked with Joesph a couple of times regarding my 7 month Golden Retriever puppy: I had a work emergency come up, I reached out to Joseph in hopes to boarding my pup for the day. Joseph was very expedient AND professional (scheduled a quick meet and greet and verified all shots were documented). Throughout the day Joseph provided me with video updates on all the fun my pup was having. I felt very comfortable knowing he was in great hands. I also had some behavioral issues with walking my dog as he seemed to get a little over stimulated when passing other dogs. This would cause him to lunge out, jerking and pulling me around (he's already 60 pounds!). After taking Joesph's "dog walk" course, I learned so much about my pup and the many ways of keeping his energy contained so that we can have a more structured walk. I saw improved results immediately! Walks with my dog are more enjoyable, thanks to Joseph! This guy is really into his craft and it shows with all of the service this company offers!

We have 3 dogs that are amazing but are also a lot of work. We've boarded our dogs with Joseph in the past and it's always been a great experience. Our oldest dog started having panic attacks (probably as a result of Covid-19 quarantine stress) so I reached out to Joseph for help. We just completed a 6 week training program and can't believe how far we've come! I say "we" because my husband and I were the ones who needed most of the training. We learned so many helpful tools and plan on continuing our work with Joseph. I would highly recommend Happy Paws for daily walks, overnight boarding and training! Not only is Joseph a great person, he's reliable, loves what he does, and our dogs adore him!

After working with Breyers, Bubba is calm on walks, walks directly next to me with no redirection, and has become a perfect gentleman at the vet! To say I was shocked with the results is an understatement. Breyers truly puts in the work, and helps you better understand your dog and their capabilities. He gave me the confidence to trust in Bubba again, and gave Bubba the skills to be the best dog he can be. I cannot rave about the results I've seen in him enough! The best part is, the longer we train and the more we work together on his skills, the better he gets! He was off leash in my front yard not too long ago, and came to me to get put on a leash with ease. If I could leave you with one bit of advice, it would be this: trust the process. It has been 10 days since I picked up my puppy and I have not received an email (as Victoria told me I would before I left), about what my puppy was supposedly trained on! She didn't have my email address HOWEVER, I emailed it to her the very next day bright and early and never got a response! I feel as though he wasn't trained on ANYTHING because when I picked him up, he was jumping on Victoria (what I wanted him to learn NOT to do) as well as chewing on his leash (wanted him to learn NOT to do that either!) I'm not a professional dog trainer but I know consistency is key when learning something new so it is a complete DIS-service to NOT know what to continue to train my puppy on! Also, during pick up and drop off she had just gotten home from doing one on one trainings else where so how is my puppy getting trained when she's not there?? I feel like I got gypped into the training part of the service. The pluses to this review/business is that Victoria's home is very well equipped for a dog or puppy with a double gated outside play area, plenty of toys, and just all around great environment to also get well aquatinted with other pups. She also responds very quick to text and is flexible with payments. She also makes sure your puppy's have current vaccinations to protect your puppy and others. She also offered to clip Chances nails before I left and gave him a trim around his eyes which I didn't ask for but, I appreciated it. It does take a passionate dog lover to open up your home and train a strangers dog so she gets a star for that for sure! Still up for debate if I would go back for boarding?

Before she entered our lives, our sweet pup (Oakley) was essentially a tiny, furry sprinkler of pee and a landmine factory of poop. We sent our puppy to her for board and train, and I swear she sent back a completely different dog--one that pees OUTSIDE. I repeat: OUTSIDE. I don't know what kind of Hogwarts-level sorcery she pulled, but it worked. And that's just the beginning! My dog now knows how to sit like a proper lady, "leave it" like it's hot, and stay "quiet"like a ninja. The jumping to greet everyone like they owe her money? Way down. The nipping with those razor-sharp baby teeth? She taught her that humans are friends, not chew toys. That's all just bonus material at this point--my bar was literally "Please just don't treat the living room like a toilet." Victoria is amazing at what she does, truly. If you're on the fence about dog training, just do it. You might not get your life back, but you'll get your house back--and that's honestly better. THANK YOU, Victoria!
