Sexy set up! First of all I cannot stand when I wait to write reviews then I forget the waiter/waitress/bartender name. Well on this night, June 8th and friend and I decided to venture to Waterside to get the Harborfest vibes inside of Waterside. Well as soon as you walk into the District from Waterside Drive, right in the center you have a bar located right in the heart of Waterside District. We sat down and was immediately greeted by, I think her name was Danni...short and petite African American woman... My guest already knew his drink of choice, me being me, I asked for something refreshing and along the lines of a margarita vibe. The bartender (same girl) came up with something, but I didn't like it. But I give her an A for effort. She offered to try again, but I declined and ordered a margarita. The margarita was nice. Not the best ever, but something I could enjoy throughout the night. The vibe inside is super cool and to sit right in the center of the District, one can pretty much see everything! I love it here! It seemed as though our seat choices were the main attraction for walk ups... to my right at least three others walked up and placed their orders... this was a bit frustrating, but then quickly I thought, it's still a bar and this is literally the center of the bar... and I'm like a magnet I guess... so I quickly got over the pettiness. Overall, we spent about 90 mins here and Danni was interacting with us throughout the night. She also even mentioned the other spots in the District and she pointed out the BlueMoon Stage and advised who would be performing that night. I love love great customer service! I felt she went above and beyond suggesting other venues... kudos to Danni! Parking... there is meter parking, valet, and garage parking. If you are on the Portsmouth side, you can even catch the ferry over to the Norfolk. A great time awaits. Have fun and enjoy life :)

I just came to Norfolk for the weekend and while walking by beautiful Waterside District wanted to stop with my friends for a drink. There is a large mall like area with multiple restaurants but since we just wanted a quick drink we searched for the bar with the highest reviews. Didn't realize that we past this place because it's in the center of the large lobby! It was exactly what I was looking for and I thank Alex for making me a delicious drink just based off what I like. A true bartender!

Loved the fruity fun of the Looking Glass IPA (L) from Starr Hill brewery.

Let Lauren find you something from the 48 taps. She's the cutie with awesome nautical tattoo sleeve. We started our visit with a watermelon IPA from 21st Amendment. Followed that with a Hell or High Water wheat beer. Yum.

Went for their Thursday special. 1/2 pound hamburger hooked to order with great fries. You cannot beat this deal. This burger was juicy, I mean I needed six napkins juicy. Loved it will definitely be back!

Price point was about $16 for a burger and fries without a drink. We ordered the regular cheeseburger, the Cowboy (bacon, BBQ sauce, and American cheese), the Cobra Kai (cream cheese, pickled jalapeños, and jalapeño jelly), and the Classic Jack (caramelized onions, JB sauce, and dill pickles). Everything tasted solid and came out hot. The restaurant itself is very small and does not seem ideal for larger groups. Despite this, I loved the ambiance, it has a dive bar vibe with lots of notes on dollar bills on the walls that were fun to read. I will be coming back again when in the area! A special shoutout to the waitress with the bridge piercing. She was friendly, accommodating, and quick with service, which really stood out.

Monday through Friday they have a great lunch special for about $13 that comes with a super salad and then a sandwich. It is a great deal, I have the fish sandwich which was cod. We also split the pimento cheese with freshly fried pita chips. They make the pimento cheese and house and you can tell for sure! We ordered a Diners burger, Virginia burger, and house wings. The Burgers were borderline inedible due to the huge amount of salt. If i had been dining in I would have sent it back. I would not feed that much salted meat to my dog. The burgers dampness also had literally demolished the lower bun and iceberg lettuce. So i had to disgard those sodding blobs. The Virginian burger also salty, and the crab cake, small and underwhelming. The Chicken wings tasteless and dry. On too of this i had no choice but to pay a 10% tip for "take out prepare ". If i can give zero i would. Id say "fire the chef"

I selected The Veil as the spot for my UYE and enjoyed an evening of talking shop with the great J David H. while we drank those great beers. The Veil is a comfortable spot in the Railroad District and we were sitting in their dining area on the ground floor. Big tables and plenty of room this afternoon. Which we needed because that burger and fries needed elbow room to enjoy. I'd only suggest a pump-based ketchup dispenser as the packet thing is tedious. They opened here in 2019 - well after I was done with my projects in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake - transforming this three-story space into a family-friendly taproom and restaurant. The full kitchen specializes in indulgent smashburgers and Neapolitan-style pizzas that pair perfectly with the brewery's bold stouts, hazy IPAs, and seasonal sours. We didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the Only You Bar & Lounge upstairs. Maybe that's the next visit to Hampton Roads. [Round number review 1500 in Virginia - 911 of 2025 - 24467 overall]

I only experienced the downstairs on my visit with Yelp friend Bruce K. The Happy Hour pricing was a draw as well as stellar reviews. Parking in their own smallish lot on a weekday was no problem. They also have free off street parking too! No debris in sight on my walk up. The signage is the building itself which is darn cool. They also offer outdoor seating. I started off with a Blend which is a Pale and Pilsner if I recall and it was tasty. The counter service was excellent. You can cash tip or card. Customers can also leave a tab open. The seating is wood bench type that comfortably seats six. The aesthetics of the first floor is high ceilings, concrete floors and walls. The kitchen has a garage door over the front. The space was previously a restaurant, but before may have been a factory, or warehouse. Only negative was music was a bit elevated for talking. Prior to Happy Hour concluding I ordered a $6 on special smash burger that comes with fries. No other dudes are available. The regular price is $12, so this is a deal friends. In about 20 minutes burgers and fries were delivered to the table. The look was downright amazing, so pretty much knew this bad boy was gonna be a hitter. The burger comes with double patty, cheese, Dukes mayo, lettuce a pickle. If something else I'm sorry I forgot. The first bite was phenomenal! Fresh bread, perfectly cooked 80/20 beef which was not greasy. The construction was a masterpiece. The thin fries were cooked crispy and seasoned well, yum! Honestly I could eat that burger everyday. The whole experience was exceptional and worthy of a full 5. Totally recommend checking The Veil Brewing out.
