Normally, when you decline an additional service at a dental office, they will still provide the basic care you came in for. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. It felt like if you don't agree to everything they recommend, they become rude and uninterested in helping you. Because the situation felt so off, I went to another dentist just two hours later for a second opinion. They had no idea what this office was talking about and they kindly listened to my concerns and the reason I made my appointment and serviced me. But Maryland Parkway Smiles Dentistry has a great combination of staff and dentistry that was great to see and I plan to use for years to come. Loved the online scheduling tool for my first visit, as well as the heads up from staff that Delta Dental wasn't showing me as a patient yet (why do insurance companies make it so hard?), prompting me to push back my appointment while insurance got their act together. When it was time for the appointment, office staff was welcoming and guided me through the online forms which I did from my phone. I would have preferred a tablet version as it was hard to see all of the fine print from my phone, but let's be honest it's not like I was going to see something in there and decide not to get my teeth cleaned that day. Kristina took care of my x-rays and worked to get through the process as quickly as possible before taking me back to Astrid for some pre-cleaning prep. Then Dr. Ligon came in, who was incredibly friendly and walked through what he saw (basically nothing, A+ teeth cleaner here!) and even stepped in to do my cleaning himself, which I had never had done in all my years. That, to me, says a lot about a dentist, if they are willing to come in and do the more mundane work like a cleaning, especially when that's the primary reason more folks go to the dentist. The visit ended with my choice of teeth cleaning kits, featuring a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss in a handy zippered pouch that is totally going in my work bag for those days of garlic-infused lunches! Really a near flawless visit--though I could do without the dentist, who I'm willing to bet is a fair amount younger than me referring to me as "bud."

I had a terrible toothache and incorrectly assumed it was in a recently crowned tooth. I was able to get in quickly and since they took my dental plan, was delighted. They did take a battery of x-rays and then the dentist tapped my teeth and found the "bad" one. She told me I needed a root canal but since it was a molar, she couldn't do it. Therefore, they would bring in a specialist who would charge a minimum of $1,800 or if there was a need for additional equipment, up to $2,800. (A general dentist would be about $550). I went back to Modern Dental for their diagnoses. The bottom line is I did not nor do I need a root canal. I was congested and my sinuses were pressing on the nerve since they are in close proximity. I'm still surprised they never asked that question. So, two problems. First, if a root canal was needed, they don't have the skill level to even attempt it. But second, they misdiagnosed me and I did not need any root canal. I'll call that a mistake on their part rather than lack of competence. The dentist that correctly diagnosed me is less than a mile away, Modern Dental. I spent under $100 for the x-rays, tests, and consultation. Guess who I'll be seeing in the future.

My husband came here for dental work, and the crown that was placed was done incorrectly, causing him significant pain and discomfort. When he expressed his concern, the office manager actually yelled at him instead of helping resolve the issue. Now, he has a severely cracked and infected tooth that needs to be extracted -- a serious situation -- and this office refused to see him the morning of his appointment that was already made and confirmed by the office. The office manager clearly retaliated and this is something Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners cares about. Also the oral surgeon was willing to take him, the dentist, Donna, still denied him care rather than doing the right thing and referring him properly while he was in severe pain with an infection. No patient should be treated this way, especially when they're in pain and need urgent care. This is not how a professional dental office should operate. I hope this helps others avoid the same experience. A complaint had been reported with the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners (NSBDE). Do better Donna. Be professional and ethical when someone needs urgent care, you are legally required to so.

Please Read Before Getting In-Office crowns!…read more I strongly advise against going here. In October 2024, I was pressured into getting two crowns on my lower back teeth--even though I had no pain or prior issues. They pushed their in-office crown option very aggressively, even offering a discount. Don't fall for it! It won't be worth it! The staff was insistent, and I trusted their guidance. That was a mistake. Months later, I'm still experiencing problems. I went back over 5x for adjustments and they still feel awful. The crowns were poorly shaped, don't fit properly, and don't align with my upper teeth. They look and feel unnatural--flared, too wide, and not shaped like actual teeth. Because of this, I still can't chew on my right side. To make matters worse, during the placement of the crowns, the doctor cut the inside of my mouth badly. Not only was there no apology, but the injury took two full months to heal. The administrative staff is kind, but unfortunately, the quality of dental work is not trustworthy. These crowns are under warranty, but I don't feel safe letting them do any more work on my mouth. I'm in the process of getting them redone by true professionals. Do not get in-office crowns here or anywhere. They aren't worth it! Don't do it. Don't do it! I wouldn't wish this painful and expensive experience on anyone.

They denied I was ever in the office in 2026 when in fact I had treatment for a cavity in January 2026. I have been receiving treatment with Dr Harris for 30 years, starting when his office was across the street. I have never received such rude treatment by office people and believe this is longer a trustworthy place to receive care. Dr Garth Harris does not practice at this office anymore. It will be hard to replace Dr Harris's caring professional manner as well as his skill level.

We had actually talked about this tooth back in 2024, but I put it off because I wasn't having pain at the time and I don't have dental insurance. Even so, I knew this was the place I wanted to go back to because I trust them. When I came in yesterday, they were once again so patient and caring. Even though it was late, they still took their time with me and treated me like family. I decided to leave this review after visiting my dentist that I love (which is not this place)…read morebecause the experience I had here still bothers me. I came to 5 star dental about 2-3 years ago. I was a medicaid patient and stay at home mom at the time. When they took my x-rays and read me my results, they were thorough and showed what cavities looked like. They informed me one of my teeth needed a potential root canal because it was "discolored" (I had a silver filling on it). They told me they would drill the filling down to see if my root was bleeding and that if it was bleeding that meant I needed a root canal. When I went to discuss crown options, they should be the most expensive porcelain one. They also recommended me two vials of botox for $600 each to help stop the grinding of my teeth. $1200! I told them I couldn't afford this and they told me I needed to start saving money (what money??? i was a stay at home mom!) and showed me zero compassion. They only seemed to upsell me and want my money and I've never experienced such a thing before or after. They only care about money and after reading reviews here it seems things haven't changed much. I have been to several dentist appointments since and I have brought up my concern over the tooth that needed a potential root canal and every dentist has said there's nothing wrong with. I'm glad I decided not to finish treatment here because something tells me I would've "needed" that root canal. Do yourself a favor, especially medicaid patients and DONT GO HERE.
