Chicken pesto panini with sweet potato fries
    Leslie T.

I've been to several of the Starwood Cafe locations locally, and the Farmers Branch eatery did not disappoint. The hostess greeted me and my friend with a big smile, our server was both attentive and patient (since we each asked about various menu substitutions), and the food was fresh and flavorful. I had the chicken pesto panini (on GF bread) with sweet potato fries and happily ate every last bite. The restaurant is also very clean with lots of natural light, and the women's restroom is lovely (and spotless). I'm not in the area often but will definitely be back.

Very accommodating for a group of 7 friends. We sat outside on this beautiful day. Most of us had the different sandwiches. My sandwich was the Bacon Turkey panini. Always good. The bread was toasted to a nice crisp but not dry. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Loved it!!

I was in the area and decided to try this local breakfast place. Overall food was good. The service was fair but overall not too bad. It has a hip Texas vibe that is cool.

    Chilaquiles

My husband and I stopped in for lunch for a quick bite and both are meals were absolutely horrible. I got the chilaquiles and he got the huevos rancheros. My chilaquiles was so sauced, nearly the entire plate was soggy by the time it arrived. My husband was also very disappointed with his. I tried to eat some of his hash browns because I was still hungry and they were crunchy on one side and rubbery on the other. Never have I had hash browns I couldn't even eat! When the waitress asked did we enjoy our meals and I said no, she responded "Yeah we have a lot of people say the chilaquiles is soggy and I usually tell them to get the sauce on the side." Great! Nice to know - Wish she would have told me! We will never return to another Starwood Cafe after such a terrible experience.

I had some friends visiting me for Christmas and I took them here for breakfast. The service was fast as we got a table for 5 right away. The Christmas decorations were very cute and festive. My friend and I ordered the hot chocolate and I will say, it was very delicious and I liked how it wasn't overly sweet. The breakfast food was about average, and the staff were not as attentive as I like them to be. For example, they forgot to bring out syrup for our pancakes and we asked 2 different people for some barbecue sauce which ended up tasting really strange. I feel like you are mostly paying for the atmosphere and a quick bite to eat.

I want to come back - I ordered wrong. I think what you need to order here are the carbs, specifically any pancake or waffle. I ordered an unremarkable eggs benedict (though thankfully the eggs were perfect poached). I would have liked a richer, or more lemony hollandaise. I asked for the hash browns well done, and they were still flaccid. Hubbs had the southwest skillet and finished every last crumb. Service was fast and efficient.

Had lunch at Starwood today. 5 Star Experience! Caitlin was our server. She was awesome--friendly, helpful, prompt, and excellent service all around! The place was neat, clean, and organized. There's more attention to detail here than most other comparable restaurants--all the way down to the organization of the coffee creamers on the table! The food was delicious, too. I had the Frisco Skillet--chicken sausage, spinach, peppers, etc, with a side of fresh berries. It was all great! Mom had a Very Berry Waffle with bacon. Dad had Very Berry Crepes. Everyone enjoyed their meals greatly! There were other menu choices that sounded good to me, too--breakfast tacos, a Monte Cristo sandwich, and more. Hope to try more soon!

Convenient location with parking. The place was clean & the service was fantastic. My sister & I went on a Saturday afternoon (no wait) and immediately seated. The food was good & I like their coffee. My sister had the chicken & waffle and I had the veggie omelette w/ hash browns, pancakes & and side of their chicken sausage. Everything was yummy and they didn't over season the food. Great prices & food portions!

Great place to eat healthy breakfast. Great service. First time going. Earlier is better on the weekend. Fresh and great cooks. We will go back. Plenty parking.

Great place for breakfast! We were doing a little staycation out in Farmers Branch so we decided to look around and see what kind of breakfast places there were and we decided on Starwood. We came around 11 I want to say and it was pretty busy, I think our wait for 2 people was around 20 minutes but it wasn't too bad. The service was really fast and the food was great. I really enjoyed the burrito and we both loved the pancakes. We also thought that the price was super awesome for everything we ordered. Having found out that there are other locations near us we'll probably go back!

Great breakfast/lunch spot! The ambience is modern farmhousey with plenty of natural light. Service was friendly and accommodating. My friend had the chorizo omelette and I had egg whites with spinach and avocado toast. The eggs were a little bland but I definitely would like to come back again and try something else on their menu.

Tried Starwood for the first time during the lunch service. The ambiance is super cute inside and the club sandwich I got was good! To drink, my mom got the lemon blueberry mimosa and she enjoyed it. We will be back!!

There are 2 floors for dining and drinking. The architecture outside and the decor inside including the bathroom gives lets say "Speak Easy" vibe from the roaring 20s. The hostest and our server were both very nice and attentive. Thanks to them and to Bankhead for providing them. I had the Mediterranean Chicken and a BrewDaddy Ultra Lite beer. The chicken breast was tender and delightful. The sauce along with the cheese and fresh herbs covering it gives that Mediterranean flavor. There was also a little hummus on the side. The mashed potatoes were soft and creamy. Again, these were quite delicious. The broccoli spears were I think roasted. Put all 3 together and you get an excellent tasty meal. My beer as in the name, was very lite and kind of a Mich Ultra and Bud Lite blend. So kind of like drinking water. I also tried the Low Beams and the Wit Me One More Time. I didn't particularly like either one of them but I would get the Wit Me One More Time again as the name implies. Anyhows, it was a good time and an enjoyable meal! Thank you Bankhead!

The food is consistently excellent. We went for dinner on a Saturday night (reservations are highly recommended). The wife had the chicken as a main entree. It was outstanding. The chicken was smoky, tender, and moist. It has a bevy of vegetables that are cooked perfectly. It comes with a side and she got the baked potato with everything. She loved everything about this entree. For me, it was an easy decision. I LOVE their wedge salad and started with that. The price has gone up a bit but it remains outstanding. For some reason, the waiter gave me a small but it was fine. The small in 2026 is $7.99 and the regular size is now $11.99. For my entree, I ordered from the appetizer menu and got the crab cake. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the crab cake. It has to be the best in Dallas. It is one half pound of pure crab meat, no filler. The price has gone up to $26.99 so it is not cheap, but it is outstanding quality. The cake was perfectly cooked and the crab was sweet. It comes with three dips but to me, I want to taste the crab so I did not use them. The kid had the old fashioned fries and devoured them. Our server, Mark, was attentive and efficient. Service was excellent as usual. Overall, this is one of the best restaurants in Dallas and IMO the best in the line of Kenny's restaurants. The crab cake was okay, but it wasn't super flavorful to me. The tenderloin appetizer, though, was AMAZING! Recently, I had lunch here, and they now have a new farm to table menu that really exceeded my expectations. The Ranch has reinvented itself many times, and now it's a restaurant I would visit for the food AND atmosphere. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - At its core, it's a bar with several indoor and outdoor dining areas with a country theme. The Ranch is so versatile that you can host a private event while people dine in the main area while others hang out at the bar. There's also a charming outdoor area that is nice if the weather is cool. Best of all - it's full of people and energy. 1 Star. Service - Our server was great. We explained the concept, went over the menu, and while a large table occupied his time, several of the staff were helpful. Everyone was dressed in Cowboy/Ranch gear. Texas Southern Hospitality is real. 1 Star. Food - My most recent visit was like visiting a new restaurant. The Ranch's menu has changed, and everything was new. I started with the pork belly appetizers, which was a great start to meal. The tender pork meat had a layer of sweet + salty belly that melts in your mouth. I went with the Barbacoa Grilled Cheese that was one of the best I've ever had. The barbacoa (shredded BBQ beef) was the star and was better than any brisket grilled cheese I've had. The sourdough was grilled with lots of butter, so after devouring the sandwich I had to wash my hands. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Absolutely. I had been to The Ranch so many times I considered a place to gather for Happy Hour. Not anymore. The new menu is incredible, and I can't wait to return. 1 Star.

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.
