I've been to several of the Starwood Cafe locations locally, and the Farmers Branch eatery did not disappoint. The hostess greeted me and my friend with a big smile, our server was both attentive and patient (since we each asked about various menu substitutions), and the food was fresh and flavorful. I had the chicken pesto panini (on GF bread) with sweet potato fries and happily ate every last bite. The restaurant is also very clean with lots of natural light, and the women's restroom is lovely (and spotless). I'm not in the area often but will definitely be back. read more

We were in the area and decided to grab breakfast here. I ordered the Frisco Skillet and the initially everything looked great. The first bites were unusual to say the least. The bell peppers they used were going bad and had the taste of spoiling veggies. I let the waiter know and he took the plate back. Tell me why he came back and said that the kitchen staff tasted the bell peppers and said they were good, not spoiled. Keep in mind I had eaten off this plate already. I was still going to pay for the plate because I ate the eggs and pancakes. The server asked if I would like anything else in a very condescending tone so I declined and just asked for the check. My husband and I stopped in for lunch for a quick bite and both are meals were absolutely horrible. I got the chilaquiles and he got the huevos rancheros. My chilaquiles was so sauced, nearly the entire plate was soggy by the time it arrived. My husband was also very disappointed with his. I tried to eat some of his hash browns because I was still hungry and they were crunchy on one side and rubbery on the other. Never have I had hash browns I couldn't even eat! When the waitress asked did we enjoy our meals and I said no, she responded "Yeah we have a lot of people say the chilaquiles is soggy and I usually tell them to get the sauce on the side." Great! I had some friends visiting me for Christmas and I took them here for breakfast. The service was fast as we got a table for 5 right away. The Christmas decorations were very cute and festive. My friend and I ordered the hot chocolate and I will say, it was very delicious and I liked how it wasn't overly sweet. The breakfast food was about average, and the staff were not as attentive as I like them to be. For example, they forgot to bring out syrup for our pancakes and we asked 2 different people for some barbecue sauce which ended up tasting really strange. Had lunch at Starwood today. 5 Star Experience! Caitlin was our server. She was awesome--friendly, helpful, prompt, and excellent service all around! The place was neat, clean, and organized. There's more attention to detail here than most other comparable restaurants--all the way down to the organization of the coffee creamers on the table! The food was delicious, too. I had the Frisco Skillet--chicken sausage, spinach, peppers, etc, with a side of fresh berries. It was all great! Mom had a Very Berry Waffle with bacon. Dad had Very Berry Crepes. I want to come back - I ordered wrong. I think what you need to order here are the carbs, specifically any pancake or waffle. I drove a long way through traffic to meet a friend for lunch. The reviews were good. Yolanda was great! She understood that my friend and I were trying to catch up and in deep conversation. I always seem to get the waiters that interrupt right in the middle of a sentence. She kept coffee cup and waters full until we were done eating. My chicken fried chicken was dry n rubbery. The grits had no flavor at all. My eggs were cold, I didn't get enough butter for my pancakes and the coffee was gross tasting. I nice little hidden gem in Farmers Branch. I was staying at a hotel in the area for a conference and was looking for a decent place to get breakfast and the front desk clerk recommended the Starwood Cafe. I just wanted something quick and close so it more that met my expectations. It's located in a shopping center and there is not much parking close to the restaurant. I lucked up and happened to catch someone leaving who had parked right on front so I didn't have far to walk. It was pretty packed on a Saturday morning but the staff handled it will getting people in and out. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was constantly sanitizing everything. Staff wore masks and recommended customers to wear them when not eating or drinking. I had a basic breakfast with two scrambled eggs, bacon, toasts, grits, and a cup of coffee. Everything was prepared to my liking. My waitress provided good service and checked on me frequently. Prices were cheap too so that's a plus. They do close by 2:30 pm so it's only open for breakfast and brunch. Sorry but if you like having breakfast for dinner this isn't the place for you. They do not serve any alcoholic beverages so not a good spot for a boozy brunch. But if you want a good quick breakfast at a reasonable price Starwood Cafe is perfect. read more

We were excited to come back again after about two years away. The food is just as good as ever. Not a fan of the coffee, however, but my husband really enjoyed it. I saw the Brisket Huevos Rancheros and decided to give them a try. It was delicious! The brisket was very tender. Could have used more meat, but for the price, I can't say too much. I usually prefer rice and beans with HR, but the beans and hash browns were good. You can choose how you'd like your eggs cooked, so I went with my usual over easy! Service was quick, and friendly. Unfortunately the food I received when dining did not come close to the quality reflected in the current four star aggregate rating. I ordered Chicken fried steak with gravy, eggs, hash browns and pancakes and coffee. Nothing stood out as above the norm of roadside diner fare (best we're the pancakes). The hash browns were nicely shredded and seasoned, but not thoroughly crispy and served lukewarm. I came specifically for a good chicken fried steak and it was really disappointing: under seasoned, tough, too much connective tissue and slightly bitter flavor. I could only get through half of it. In all fairness, normally after altering the kitchen (which I did) I would have given them an opportunity to remake the dish.
