It is a stark contrast from the consumerist drudgery, hyper-stimulation, and quotidian violence of the modern U.S. market-scape which has metastasized like a bad rash over the land. An alternative way of relating to strangers and community members alike, around long wooden tables, listening to local folk performers stirs up a sense of communality from long-ago genetic and cultural memories. Eating good food, and drinking from a curated collection of ciders each infused and brewed slightly differently makes you feel "rich" in the true sense of humanity and wellbeing. I recommend this unusual vision of communal gathering -- where you can wander between wooden beam-constructed huts in which various food vendors are selling specialty items, then gather to sit down and eat in a large tent. Here you can also enjoy open farm vistas, and explore some planted rows. There is whimsical art festooned around the collection of low-slung huts. The ground is not paved so you can feel as if you are in touch with the earth. My food choice was a bahn mi sandwich which was excellently executed with toasted bread, both tasty and filling. It used a tempeh made with wheat grown in Chimacum itself. It had beautifully pickled daikon, carrots, and cilantro while the mayo was warming. Missing jalapenos were compensated for with chili sauces that you could custom add. I washed this down with a small six ounce glass of a mix of ciders because I couldn't decide my favorite flavors (strawberry infused cider was my jam that day). Be aware that food vendors will be different depending on the day of your visit. I feel that the care & finesse with which the bahn mi was executed is an indication of the high caliber of curated, prepared food available for purchase at this "farm" experience. Get back to the land and lower your blood pressure at Finn River Farm and Cidery!

Hubby and I are VERY into wine and we both thoroughly enjoyed our tastings. Toni even convinced me to try their Chardonnay, even though I typically don't like Chardonnay. Great recommendation! It was fruit forward and not heavily oaked. I even ended up buying a bottle. We bought several wines that day, including their sparkling. So good! We enjoyed ourselves so much on Saturday, that we came back on Sunday! Toni remembered our names, and our pup's name too! I have to say, Toni is one of the most fun and personable hosts we've met at a wine tasting room. We've visited wineries all across the west coast and abroad, and many tasting room employees will just pour you a small taste, give you their short spiel about the wine, and move on. The issue was not that the winery had expectations for a large group. The issue was the complete lack of communication and the way those expectations were handled. When we arrived, no one informed us that there was a minimum spend requirement or that our group needed to order a certain amount immediately. Several people in our group had already started ordering, including a bottle of wine and a glass of wine, and we were still settling the kids, reviewing the food options, and deciding what else to order. Within just a few minutes of sitting down, staff began pressuring us to order food. Shortly after that, another staff member approached us and told us we needed to clean up after ourselves and meet a minimum spend of around $500. None of this had been clearly stated before we sat down, and we were given no reasonable time to get organized as a group. If a winery has a large-party policy, minimum spend, or specific expectations for families with children, that should be communicated upfront, clearly and respectfully, before guests are seated. Instead, the interaction felt rushed, uncomfortable, and unwelcoming. We had every intention of ordering more wine and food, but the tone and handling of the situation made the experience feel transactional and unpleasant. Fletcher Bay may be a nice spot for smaller groups, but based on our experience, I would not recommend it for families or larger walk-in groups unless their policies are made much clearer and their hospitality improves.

They have both red and white wine options as well as a variety of cider to choose from, and you get 3 samples for a tasting. Our ultimate favorite, though, was actually their blackberry shrub vinegar that had amazing flavor, and both us and the other couple we were with had to go home with a bottle. This is really a beautiful, peaceful setting perfect for decompressing after a long week. The owners are incredibly gracious hosts as well and made it a very pleasant experience for us.

Staff were sweet and accommodating. Our table was flanked by heaters, keeping the cold at bay. Felt so cozy sipping with friends under their pavilion, taking in the brisk autumn air. Their whites were so delicious & sweet! I'm not a dry/buttery wine type of gal-- I like it as juice-adjacent as possible. These were up my alley for sure. LOVE that the grapes are all grown locally. While far from downtown, the vineyard is easy to access with their local bus system, Pingo.
