As to be expected, the rates here are higher than usual, especially if you're not from Utah. Not the stores fault. The staff was decent. Smiled and said hello. They have a pretty large variety of wine and the good stuff is locked away (you'll need assistance for that). I came specifically for some rum to make mojitos and got what I needed - good ol Bacardi. The Mrs wanted some beer so she found some from Priaire as she likes that brand from Oklahoma. Overall pretty good. Thanks for the doing the lords work by being open till 10pm. read more

I never thought I'd rate a liquor store on Yelp. But the fact that liquor stores not only exist in this state (I'm from Idaho) coupled with the fact it stays open several hours past any other business in this state warranted a quick blurb. This place is huge. It's easily two or three times bigger than what I have at home. I think it's mostly because they sell beer and wine that's "normal" and not the 3.2% max alcohol crap they sell in the grocery stores and stop n' robs. We don't have that problem in Idaho thus there's no need to sell that stuff in our liquor stores. The liquor selection seemed very adequate and they had what I was wanting. This place was packed at 9:00 at night. Yes, it's a dump. But the employees were friendly and got me out of there right quick. No hassles having an out of state drivers license. Huge Asian grocery store next door if that's your fancy. Worked perfect for me. read more

Store manager is a racist uncaring prick. Took one look at me and denied me any help, didn't even bother glancing at me twice. Store is a mess with boxes messily stack all over the store. Lines are long, customers cutting in line and no one says anything. Cashiers look lost and don't know how to say hi. Go to a different store. read more

Is it even fair to give a liquor store in Utah a 2 star rating? I mean, at least it's a liquor store in a very, very anti-drinking state, so the fact that it exists is worth 1 star! Since the adult beverage shops in Utah are run by the state, the selection and prices are just as poor as you'd expect. I'm a wine lover and the wine selection is pretty pitiful. You can find a few decent California reds, but expect a 10 to 20% markup over what you'd pay in your local wine shop at home. Note that there's a lot of "fake" beer sold in Utah (at convenience stores and grocery stores): I mean beer with a very low (3.2%) alcohol content. You can get beer with a higher alcohol at the state liquor stores, so that's worth another star right there. The "nicer" wines and liquors are locked behind glass so you'll have to wait even longer if you want to buy one of those. This location has a surprisingly pitiful selection of local High West whiskey (which is what you want to drink here). Not everyone in Utah is a teetotaler as evidenced by the parking lot. Every time I'm in this shop it is PACKED with people. Be prepare to wait in a long, looooong line to check out. That tells you how starved out Sandy residents are for some damn liquor. read more

It is what it is. In Utah you are pretty limited in your options if you want to buy alcohol. This location is good because they are large, and they have a nice selection of wine. Although there are usually long lines to check out they move pretty quickly. Service is fine. Anywhere else I'd say it's bad (you can't ever find anyone to help you, and if you do they know nothing about anything they sell), but it seems to be the same at all State Liquor stores so my expectations are pretty low. Parking is AWFUL, as is trying to even get in here if you are coming from State Street. I've waited in the line to turn left into the shopping center through like 5 lights before. If I lived elsewhere I would rarely (if ever!) come here, but here in Utah the liquor stores are all pretty much the same, and this is the closest one to my house, so you'll still find me here from time to time. read more

This store is exactly as advertised. A straight up beer, liquor, and wine store. Nothing is refrigerated. Also, they don't have any soda of any kind for mixing. So not a great place for one spot shop. They have a very robust selection in all categories. Decent prices and some rare selections of beer and wine. Which is why I gave it four stars. But as far as the full-service liquor store goes, it leaves a little bit to be desired read more

Great wine selection organized by style. Lots of hard liquor choices so you'll probably find what you're looking for unless it's super specialized or non-mainstream. Wish their beer selection was larger but it's good enough. Lots of parking, lots of registers, easy in and out and one of the few places guaranteed not to have Mormons. On the other hand, some riff raff outside. Also, awesome Asian grocery market next door. read more

It's a liquor store. They sell distilled beverages and "heavy" beers. They have a monopoly and can charge whatever they want. They justify the higher prices as a means to augment the cost of Utah's school lunch program. They have limited sizes and selections except for the most popular items. Since Utah drinkers aren't as sophisticated as others, what's popular seldom has anything to do with what's good. In many ways, they are much better than Idaho's state run liquor operation. Of course, one can buy "heavy" beers and wines in grocery stores but you'd never find the selection there that you can here, all under one roof. That said, The DABC is light years from being Vegas' Lee's Discount Liquor! Parking is good, location is better, employees are adequate. Nothing much changes at Utah's liquor stores. There was a time when I had to hunt for what I wanted as liquor stores were unfamiliar to me. Years later I can now find my brand of gin blindfolded at the Sandy, Draper, Cottonwood Heights, Sugarhouse and Holladay stores. Does that make me an alcoholic? read more

Oh u know.. even in Utah we gotta have a drink or two or five . Lol, came in on Saturday night to buy some beers and a bottle for fight night and it's crazy beer prices are 2$EACH BOTTLE . Did you say each bottle ?? YEAH EACH BOTTLE . What in the world. As a Californian I'm like ???????? But then on the other hand beers every else are no higher than 3.2%. So I guess it's nice to have an IPA. Total for 12 beers about 25-26. A bottle of crown about the same. Not a huge wine selection but it is better than a couple of the other Utah liquor stores. The one thing that I really do like about this location, especially compared to some of the nearby locations, is that it is easy to get in and out for me. Even on Fri and Sat night when the parking lot and the store are jam packed, it seems like I never have to wait in long lines. They are good at moving people in and out and I appreciate that. read more

Right by my work, so makes a good mid day spot if you catch my drift. This liquor store, just like all Utah liquor stores are just fine. If you're from here you know what to expect. If you're not from here then what you'll do is find a bunch of beer and liquor, but non of it's refrigerated, and you won't find any chasers or mixers. What's so wrong about considering having a kiosk with state employees just the same within trader joes, for example? This store discriminates based on your appearance. I was in there with my husband on 2/11/19 maybe around 3/4pm trying to get a bottle of wine and the the lady working there was DISCRIMINATING based on my appearance. Stated that she would not sell to us because we smelled like week, my husband and I DO NOT smoke, we are professional athletes and just wanted a bottle of wine to cook with. I have an Oregon ID and yes very long clean dreadlocks. We stated that actually lady that was the guy in front of us you just sold to with no problem and may I add didn't card. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS STORE PLEASE. Sadly this is 2019 and we still have to deal with discrimination, and this wasn't even a blip on the discrimination radar, but still discrimination is discrimination no matter so big or small. The only damage that was done here was having to change our dinner plans. Yes weed is legal in Oregon that doesn't mean that everyone smokes who has dreads. Yes I look young so I am use to getting carded even though I'm 31. They still made my husband go back out to the car and get his even though he wasn't paying. Just go to the store in Millcreek, or fort union that are much nicer and very helpful. read more

This liquor store has an interesting selection, but its employees must agree about what ID they need to see ! I went there 3 times since I moved to Utah, without any problem, and today the cashier refused my French driving licence... The same licence that was accepted the last 3 times ! It's nice to think I can look like I am still 21, but I am 37, I have a beard... This employee was so narrow-minded, she didn't even watched me in the eyes when I tried to explain I didn't have my US driving licence yet... I didn't make a scene because the store was crowded and many people were waiting in queue, but this particular employee spoiled my good impression about this store... Maybe she was right refusing my French licence : but in that case, the first three ones should have told me the same thing, and I would have brought my passeport ! read more

This was formerly my favorite place to get wine as they had a fantastic selection and seemed to never run out. I still kind of dig this one; it has sort of a quaint feel, but the luster and magic that made me drive that far out to haunt its aisles has passed. It's gotten darker and dingier inside and the layout is...odd, I guess, to put it charitably. Selection is still above average but not worth the drive from Salt Lake. read more
