I have been to Stater Brothers on Kellogg Drive in Anaheim two times in the last couple weeks. My experience was wonderful. The store is very clean, it is small, but I was still able to find everything. The cashiers were very pleasant and kind. I will come back here, because I like the small size and the short lines. Prices are always higher than Ralphs up the street and the people aren't quite as friendly. The produce doesn't seem to stay fresh very long. I pop in from time to time when convenient but it's not my preferred place for a whole shopping trip, the cost vs quality just doesn't match. read more

Some weird cashiers here, a lot of them won't even greet you or acknowledge you at checkout. I get everyone has their days but this behavior is consistent at this location, and I usually find myself feeling uncomfortable at checkout and wish yall had self checkout available here. Cashiers/baggers will just be having a conversation and make me feel like I'm intruding when I'm just trying to get groceries. Chris in the meat department needs a serious attitude adjustment. I cannot believe this guy has been able to hold onto his job for as long as he has. Chris always displays the most unpleasant disposition and demeanor and acts as if he he is doing you a huge favor by waiting on you. A recent example of how he treats his customers occurred just yesterday, June 25th. While purchasing a rack of baby back ribs, I asked him which one he thought was the leanest. Then, with a look of disdain on his face, he said, "I dunno. It's whatever you want". Thanks, Chris, for your expert opinion! Chris never offers as much as a smile, and never says thank you. I have been shopping at this store for over 40 years and have literally spent thousands of dollars here. I refuse to be treated with such disrespect and will now give all of my business to Ralphs down the street. The employees there actually understand the meaning of "Customer Service". Hey, Chris, if you are so unhappy with your job, find employment elsewhere. For the record, I am not a Ralphs employee. I have nothing to gain from this scathing review other than to alert other shoppers how they will be treated if they go to the meat department at Stater Brothers. My child drinks a very specific formula which is hard to find so I was so happy when I found it here. Katrina was so helpful! Extremely nice and once again extra helpful. She helped me with the formula and even mentioned to always keep an extra can in case I ever need her manager to order it. Not gunna lie! I love me some Stater Bros! I do enjoy going to other grocery stores, but Stater Bros just feels like home. It is not overwhelming like other stores. I know exactly where to find what I am looking for and I do not feel like I am being sold on a bunch of other things. I come in. I get my fresh produce and I leave. There's a bald employee who usually works at night and consistently has a rude attitude. I've noticed that he only seems polite to more attractive female customers, as I've observed while standing in line behind them. My vision isn't great, and whenever I need assistance with the payment pad, he responds with an attitude rather than helping properly. I hope Stater Bros addresses this issue, as I can't imagine how many other customers have had similar experiences. read more

The Produce section is absolutely phenomenal. Nothing is bruised, very organized, never have expired out. That department is a well oiled machine. The Meat Department here is also always SO GOOD ! I drive farther just to come here and so worth it. Now the service is hit or miss. I understand these employees go through a lot with all the bs customer service. The parking is plentiful and I like their hot foods selection, especially the hot mac and cheese. I also go here to pick up my pre-washed and ready to eat spinach for $2. The flower selections here aren't always the best and I never see a dedicated florist. Furthermore, their prices do not compare to, the elephant in the room, down the street: Ralphs. For example, their spirits and liquor selection is not competitively priced. They usually require a combo purchase, such as " Buy 3, Save "$ X"', for spirits. However, I can usually find the same spirits for the same price, but for single purchases elsewhere. Therefore, I don't have to load up on unnecessary spirit selections, just to save a few dollars, when I can buy them in singles instead. read more

Clean up on aisle everywhere...I will never shop at this chain again. I bought a "naked juice" drink on January 10th from the cold case. Unfortunately, I was rushed and failed to notice the product in the front was USE BY December 21st. I drank it and it was disgusting. I got sick to my stomach for the rest of the night. On the same trip I bought a bag of rice cakes and noticed the bag had been previously opened. Im now just disgusted with everything I purchased. I am a respectful and courteous customer every time I go into this shop. But I feel I am always treated with active disrespect by the staff. Cashiers do not treat me with a basic human respect, and certainly not friendliness. I get cold attitudes and quick tempers. My cashier today seemed annoyed that I asked for the five cents in change that I was due, and she behaved as if it inconvenienced her to do this for me. And I know this part may be strange, but who looks like the manager always seems to eyeball me in a decidedly unfriendly way every time I go in. And I see him a lot. Usually go to Ralph's across the street but I have been stopping by here now after work to get the occasional beer(s) and snackage after work since they're open one hour later. The cashiers have always been friendly and even remember me even though I'm only there like 2 or 3 times a month. Some things are out or short stocked because of COVID which is understandable. I have unfortunately witnessed a lot of Karens and douchebags being unnecessarily rude to the staff because of the way they have to adjust their operations because of the pandemic (look at earlier reviews so you can see what I mean). Wow. Came here to grab some fried chicken for lunch from the deli, and ordered the 8 piece for a friend and I and the chicken was hardly edible. It tasted completely dry and old. It was only 12:00pm I should of paid attention to what the deli worker was putting in my box because all 8 pieces were old, small and hard. I get my hair done next door (Creations Hair - ask for Jennifer Van who is amazing at hi-lights) and came in on a Friday to buy pork spare ribs on sale for $1.99 a pound. I go to the meat department and am greeted by a black employee at the butcher counter. Very friendly young man. His Mexican mouthy co-worker keeps interjecting. Before you accuse me of being racist for describing the employees, I'm intentionally doing this so the manager can give more training on customer service. I asked for two pounds and the Mouthy co-worker tells him to give me the smaller piece which ends up being 3.6lbs. You cannot get 2 pounds - it's either the smaller rib section or the large one (which is probably 5-6 pounds) What happened to doing what the customer wants? Stater Bros is selling to us, CONSUMERS, products so why not give us what we want and will pay for? This mouthy employee, working at the butcher station, needs more training or needs to shut his mouth and just pack meat. He was clearly bossing and bullying his co-worker. I bet my paycheck that if the mouthy employee wasn't there, I would have gotten the 2 pounds that I asked for. I was checked out by Brandon who was so friendly and Customer Service Focused (hey mouthy butcher guy - learn something). Regardless of my positive check out experience, I won't be coming back here. I usually shop here or Ralph's down the street. I noticed an error with their weekly ad last Wednesday, so I brought it up to the night manager's attention after one failed attempt speaking to the person in the meat department. He was rude, therefore I had no choice but to speak to the manager instead. The manager (Xavier) and I did a walk through and he did confirm it was a mistake on their part...although, the guy in the meat department was STILL trying to argue with the manager at this point, unbelievable! Xavior tried to correct the problem asap to avoid further complaints from other shoppers. Very professional and took care of the issue right away. To the person who was in charge of the meat department that night...you should know better than to misinform customers on information you weren't definite about. You're the one trained to be informative, not to delude your shoppers. read more

Visited the store on 4/24/21, store was clean and not that busy. The reason for the 2 * is because I bought New York steaks and I asked the meat employee if the seasoning is free, and he said yes. He took my steaks and proceeded to season it before he weighed the steaks. I asked him why is he weighing the seasoning with the steaks, he said that's what he was told to do. I told him then that's not free, he said he's asked the Store Manager and Meat Manager and that is what they told him to do( shrugging shoulders). At checkout I guess one of the managers, Stephanie walked in front of me as I was leaving after paying, I said excuse me, I'm sorry, this manager didn't say a thing or looked back to say anything polite. She had a look of hate, mean looking. How sad this is when she needs us customers more than we need her attitude. I could have gone to Ralph's where I normally go and get treated wonderful and respected as a person but to be disrespectful is a shame. With this attitude carried out, this manager better start appreciating us customers.
