5/08/26! They need to find someone to work the fruit and only cut the fruit when it is ready to cut and sell. I bought a tray of fruit pineapple. Watermelon. Strawberries, cantaloupe , and honeydew. The only thing on this tray that was not hard and sweet was the pineapple. I asked the girl today why are you selling this and cutting it up if it's not ready. She told me it was out of season. How about knowing their job and cut the when it's ready for customers to eat in the first place. Actually it's not the workers fault. Ya I bought it yesterday. My Stater Bros store is on Apple Valley Road and I just Love my Store! I moved here is 2005 and I have only had one bad experience and I contacted the store manager and the issue was resolved. I feel that with people losing their jobs, I do not believe leaving a yelp review effecting the entire store is not Fair! I recommend before posting a bad review, speak with the store manager first, to not punish the entire store's rating, please! I would like to acknowledge the Plant section worker, Tina Marie, she is just AMAZING and I purchase more plants there to just see her Wonderful smile!! Had a family bbq and couldn't wait. End of Summer and wanting a great Carne Asada meal. Knowing my family, I made sure to over guess the lbs of meat. I needed 6lb so to be safe, we ordered 8lb. Came to $45. Went home to cut up before throwing in bbq. 2.5lb (I weighed it all) was NOT fat but tendon. Wow. How upsetting. Thank god I didn't do the 6lb. Thanks staters. So the owner responded to my previous review, which I included at the bottom, and said they would address the issue. Well...he didn't. I went in tonight 2/2/26 and bought 1.5 pounds of shrimp with the heads on. I should have inspected them before he bagged them up. After I got home and started unpacking them they were even worse than the other ones. Maybe half were salvageable. The rest were rotten, dripping black slime and smelled. Last time I went back this time I just give up. Your seafood dept is below adequate. Maybe this Stater Bros. should only sell basic seafood. I buy them for a pet reptile of mine. He can eat the ones I salvaged but I feel sorry for anyone that buys them for human consumption. You'll prob get sick. This isn't a complaint against the seafood guy working tonight. He is always friendly and really cool. This is directed to the owner that said he would take care of the problem but doesn't care so he just keeps selling rotten seafood. If the only two times spread out by several months I've purchased shrimp with the heads on and they are absolutely disgusting and bad then there's a good chance that they are always in that condition. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW First of all I love Stater Bros in general. All the employees are super friendly and very helpful. This is directed to the seafood dept or the person that trains them. I came in Monday and purchased a pound of the shrimp with the heads on. I didn't look at the pan of the shrimp in the case. I just assumed they were all good. I took it home, put it in the freezer and on Tuesday took it out to use them. When I opened the package there was black liquid at the bottom of the paper. Over 75% of the shrimp the heads were solid black and some of the bodies were black as well. After googling black shrimp it said that it means the shrimp have been exposed to a bacteria and should be discarded. I immediately called Stater brothers and the associate I spoke to said that I could bring them back in and exchange them. I came back tonight to exchange them but I noticed that the majority of the ones in the case had the same issue. I asked him and he said they should be fine since most of them have the same black issue. I said no that's actually not true. And explained what it meant. I've bought them many times and they are never black. So I decided not to worry about it and just asked him to throw them away since it was only $8. Come on Stater Brothers get on top of your seafood! If your associate notices something when they're putting them out, why would they even put them out? They should know what is good and what is bad seafood and not display or sell bad seafood. This is the second time I've had an issue with bad seafood from this particular Stater Brothers. The first time was king crab legs that were absolutely disgusting. They were brown and gray In color and slimy. Those I got exchanged, but I've never bought again. As I said, I love the stater Brothers and I will come back again. However, I will not be buying any more seafood from Stater Brothers. Stater Bros. Stood in line with my 18 items in the 15 or fewer items list. From a glance, it looked like I was in the right amount of items to stay in that line I waited all the way up until I had time to load my items onto the cart and I was told by a blonde heavier set woman working at that register that I have more than 15 items that I need to go into another line. After waiting in another in line with my kids, I had discovered I only had 3 small items over. I would've just stayed in the original line I was in and put three items back if it was that big of a deal. What's even more comical about that is that there was not even a single person behind me. I could understand if I was holding up a long line but it wasn't even busy in the original lane I was in .It's unfortunate that some people are probably unhappy with their job that they take it out on others. He so kindly let us use his 15 or less express lane bc there was a long line we were in, made nice small talk, friendly, asked if we needed anything else like ice. He was just so kind!! Disabled customers beware. You will be treated like a criminal here. You will be asked if you are taking the electric cart out to the parking lot multiple times, in my case 3. If they checked their security footage they would see that I customarily leave the cart by the entrance and I plug it in so the next user can have it charged. Except when I have a full cart. Then I gladly accept an assistant's company. This particular cashier claimed that her repeated question was "to make sure because some people say no and take them out anyway." 1. Asking repeatedly does not guarantee anything. 2. Putting the burden of your security needs on disabled customers does not solve anything. Are disabled customers not burdened enough? Try seeing things from our perspective. If you need more security, hire. This store employee forgets: We pay for her service. She gets paid to serve us, not the other way around. read more

Ordered a cake for my sons 15th birthday on Tuesday morning. Spoke with a lady in the bakery by the name of Lynette. Ordered for pickup for the following day (Wednesday). Arrived to pick up the cake, and they couldn't find the cake or the order slip. Spoke with Kate, and she offered to make me my sons cake if I gave her 15 minutes. I agreed. It's was very delicious and worth the wait. Kate went above and beyond for my sons birthday, and I'm very grateful for that!!! Thank you. I was shopping at my local stater brothers and while I was shopping I noticed one of the baggers named Marcus was following me throughout the isles and I over heard him talking to another employee about my body. Specifically my "huge a.." I don't think this type of behavior is acceptable and unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened to me. I come to this store all of the time and because of this employee I have to drive 20min away to a different grocery store, and to me this is not right because he is ruining the reputation of this specific stater brothers location. read more

I receive a local ad for Stater Bros. every week and have always noticed their great deals. However, we live a little over an hour away from this particular location, so we always opted to shop at our local commissary. One evening we decided to stop by Stater Bros and saw how amazing their deals really were! This particular location was not crowded at all and even with only one lane open, there was never much of a crowd at the check out registers. Their store was clean and all deals were clearly labeled which made our shopping experience so much easier. We did have issues with our check out register not being able to read our phone number for our deals and I felt bad because we were holding up the line. Instead of quickly trying to rush us out, they able to print out our receipt and take care of us at another lane and I truly appreciated the extra dollars that it saved by resolving our issue. Everything that we were looking for was well stocked and the store was very clean. We bought a lot of off-brand/Stater Bros brand items and they may even be more delicious than the brand items. They offer high-quality produce and meat. Their deals are hard to beat even at our local commissary. read more

Employees are all wearing masks, but they do not enforce mask wearing for guests!! Selfish people don't care that we are in a pandemic - someone is dying every 10 minutes in SoCal people. I have been shopping here for years. This store is by far the cleanest and most helpful place to shop up here in the high desert. If I can't find something all I have to do is ask and an employee will try to help you. They have a very wide variety of items along with the newest. It is a very busy store and when you see the manager checking out customers by running a lane to help move things along. Extra bonus points. Fresh meats are great, Produce is fresh and the Deli and Bakery are top notch. I have nothing bad to say about this store. read more

Used the coin star machine and chose Gift card. What I received was a receipt for a gift card to Apple stores? Not what the machine said. I called the Apple store number and was told they had no idea what I was talking about. I tried to call coin star and guess what no answer. Was on hold for an hour and no answer. Told Stater Brothers corporate office about my problem and was told they had nothing to do with coin star that they were a third-party. Funny the machine is in Their Store lobby and probably pays them a fee to be there. So I was ripped off for $93.47 of change. I'm a disabled veteran on a fixed income this is outrageous how these companies can steal from people and get away with it!! And STATER BROTHERS SHOULD HAVE THESE MACHINES REMOVED FROM THEIR STORES. I was in a long line yesterday and I felt so bad for the cashier because the person in front of me was being extremely rude. The cashier was trying to see if this man needed assistance with taking his groceries out to his car (he was in a motorized scooter) and I don't think he was understanding her questions. She politely tried to ask again and he freaked out and started yelling at her. She kept a calm and composed attitude and was still so polite. He even stormed back in and took a photo of this poor woman who was just trying to do her job. I'm come here often and this cashier along with so many others are nothing but nice and so helpful. This is the first grocery store I went to when moving here. The only thing they really have going for them is the descent prices on fruit and veggies and managers specials on end of the day bakery items. These are still overpriced though and not all that. Lines are always too long at checkout at any of their locations, service is descent. In a pinch I'll come here but the selection at bigger stores like WinCo is just better, also the prices on freezer and pantry items are just too high. read more

The check out line a casher decided to talk politics with a customer in front of me. I was very uncomfortable and explained this to the cashier when it was my turn. She explained it was her opinion and she had a right to it, agreed but I explained I am a customer and would like my experience expeditiously as possible! Without having to move to another line she was upset I informed management. I was under the impression politics and religion are personal choices to be followed on your personal time. Shopped here a few days ago and I noticed customers not wearing masks. When I asked the cashier if they require masks and he said they don't want to go through the trouble of enforcing it and then went on a weird rant about how he thinks we're being lied to. Then the manager happened to chime in that they just can't enforce it. We have a massive elderly population up here in the high desert. Way to put em at risk.
