We were greeted by the bartender and our server, Jose. Jose went over the menu with us and explained how they make their own beer and whiskey! Let me start by saying i just moved up here so Um looking for good food and good service. The only place ive found both are mexican restaurants. Do better. I've been once and probably wont be back. Service felt like they didnt really want me there. I understand the seat yourself when its not busy. But no greeting, at all. No immediate need to bring a menu. Once I got a menu it was less than 30 seconds before "are you ready to order". I asked for lime it came minutes later in a napkin. It felt like because I came alone they thought i was a waste of time. If my money burdens you I'll spend it elsewhere. The few other patrons had nice friendly conversations with the 2 waiters/bar staff while i was ignored or stared at. There was 5 tables including mine. Food was decent. Came here today and had a solid experience. Ordered the Town's End burger medium rare and it came out exactly right. Super flavorful and well seasoned -- definitely the highlight for me. Grabbed the kids mac & cheese for my boys and they crushed most of it, so that says everything. My wife went with the poke nachos and really enjoyed them. Service was great -- Kimberly was our waitress and she was friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. No wait either, just walked in and sat ourselves which was a plus. The vibe is chill with a cool industrial steel/brick look that makes it feel unique but still relaxed. We've been a few times. With the original owner and with the newest one. We just had a family dinner of 12 people for our 2 daughter's birthdays. Everyone enjoyed the food. I had the Mediterranean salad with chicken, my husband the filet (cooked perfect) Our waiter Atlas was so friendly, and helped us out with moving to an outside table for cake. Before we have had not the most attentive waiters, but Atlas was the best so far. I think some reviews have been a little harsh considering the amount of changes this beautifully built restaurant has gone through. I believe they've gotten better every visit we've had. read more

My husband comes here frequently for work events, but this was my first visit. We met up with friends there to take advantage of their happy hour specials and I was seriously impressed. The venue itself is incredible. The owner obviously put a lot of time and money into crafting the place. Lots of cool iron work and speakeasy vibes galore. The HH specials were a great value. I took advantage of the $5 craft beers and tried a couple local brewery offerings. My husband stuck with Old Fashions. We also ordered spicy cheese curds and sliders and both were delicious. I've been driving past this restaurant for years and finally decided to try it out on a special occasion. I believe there's new ownership but I'm just glad we were able to experience this jewel in the High Desert. The restaurant is very spacious and there's a nice and chill vibe to it with the exposed wood look. It seems like it'll be a great spot to host an event for your friends and family. You seat yourself and our waitress (Riss H, who was amazing by way) came to our table immediately and gave us our menu and took our drink order. I'm also glad that it wasn't busy during the time we went because it seems like you could potentially be left waiting a while if you do have to seat yourself. I guess we'll find out later! With it being our first time, we definitely had to splurge on whatever sounded good and what we could compare with another restaurant. The wait time from ordering to plate on table was not that long. It's probably because our waitress (Riss H) was on top of everything. She made sure to check on us all the time and made us feel like we were regulars. She was a great help! Starting with the shareables; They were all AMAZING! The potato skins had the right crisp with refreshing pico. The corn ribs were elote approved and delicious. The pork belly bites were served on a bed of french fries smothered in bbq sauce; fries were still crispy even with the bbq sauce dripping from the bites. The onion ring tower were crisp'd to perfection! The crunch was loud and the sauces it came with were great (ranch and a chipotle type). The main entrees were AWESOME. Wifey had baby back ribs with mac and cheese and baked potato. Ribs were nice and easy to eat with slither off the bone, and the mac and cheese was creamy. Niecey had the picanha steak medium rare, baked potato, and the seasonal veggies. Steak was cooked perfectly to the request, and the broccoli and cauliflower was steamed well. I had the chicken alfredo flatbread, and it was a masterpiece. I just wished it was a little crispier. The arugula that is served with everything gives the dishes a dynamic that is unmatched. Dessert was ASTOUNDING. The churro dulce de leche cake with chocolate ice cream was a surprise and fulfilled the sweet tooth we needed after the tanginess of all the bbq flavor. I had been hearing about Townsend on social media for a while and had been wanting to check it out. We were on our way to Olson Photography to pick up our pictures, but they were closed for lunch from 12-1 p.m. Since we had some time to kill, we decided to stop by Townsend. I'm so glad we did! The place is huge, beautiful, and has such a great atmosphere. The patio alone impressed me, and once we walked inside, we were greeted right away by a friendly staff. Everyone was welcoming and made us feel comfortable. I loved the music, the soccer game on TV, and the overall vibe. They even let us sample a few beers before we ordered, which was a nice touch. My favorite was the White Wheat from Barstow Brewery. The service was excellent. I didn't catch our server's name, but she was such a sweetheart and really made our first visit enjoyable. Not Impressed at all. We went on a Sunday for lunch about 1p. There were many empty tables available. We still waited an hour for our food to show up after we ordered. The service was ok for the most part My burger patty was very small. Quite a lot smaller than the burned bun it was surrounded by. My fries came in a small metal basket and was a very small serving of them as they just throw the fries into the basket so that they take up all the space and that must be what they consider a side of fries.... whatever will fit in that little basket in no particular order. My wife had a steak. Said it was ok but the mashed potatoes seemed old.... In her words " leftover from yesterday " The 4 yr old with us didn't have much to say. When we went to pay. The bill was exceptionally high. I'm pretty good with math in my head and I knew it was off a large amount.... about $50 more than it should have been.They had added some things to our bill we didn't order. The espresso martini was terrible, really bitter. It was by far the worst espresso martini I've ever had! The corn ribs lacked seasoning. The coffee rubbed NY strip was a cheap cut of meat. I love the ambiance of the restaurant, stylish but not overdone. The restaurant is cool and we so appreciate it since it was so hot outside and not every restaurant runs the ac. Service was spot on in every way! We had multiple servers and they all were friendly, professional and very helpful. The food: we ordered the pork chop with the peaches and polenta. The pork chop was cooked to order and was perfect. We ordered medium and it was so juicy. The chop was double bone and very thick. Typically people overcook them but not this place. The polenta was bland and could have used a tiny bit of cheese or something but otherwise the dish was perfect and looked great too!! We also ordered the rack of lamb. A full rack with 8 bones!! Cooked to order, I ordered them medium but they came rare to medium rare. They had way too much black pepper on them but otherwise good. The star of this dish is the barley served under the rack. Oh my gosh it was fantastic!! Barley, celery, little onions, carrot and mushrooms all in a tasty gravy...wow we were all impressed. We even thought we could order that alone like a stew or soup. Had a glass of port and crème brûlée for dessert. The port was delicious, not too sweet not too dry, just perfect. SERVICE = 8/10 ... our server was Great, she was attentive, friendly, made good recommendations, Thank you to her. AMBIANCE = 7/10 ... While the Building is Amazing and upscale, IMO it's not being utilized well enough and the Owner really should make some changes to increase the business. Bar area and outdoor seating needs more Big Screen TV's, while I know it's not marketed as a sport's bar, we were there during Monday night Football, and with only 1 or 2 TV's going the place was nearly empty, maybe 5 or 6 tables and a small handful of people at the Bar and no one outside. I've seen that they occasionally promote LIVE Music, but they should have that going more often IMO, it's arranged and has the space, take advantage of it ? PRICING = 4/10 ... things ARE overpriced, probably another good reason why it's so empty unfortunately. Again, we were there during Monday night Football ... extend the Happy Hour offerings past 5pm ? your prices are already too high, Happy hour being 2-5pm seems very limiting ? Odd. OVERALL = 6/10 ... it COULD be an AWESOME place, but as being run, I can see it failing very soon. Lower the prices, extend your Happy hours, add TV's to Bar and Outdoor spaces, bring in more Live Music, do an Outdoor weekend Brunch, host more events? So much potential for a great place, but I fear it's going to go under as it's being run currently ... I hope they make some slight improvements and can make it, it could be such a nice place ! We were in town last-night for a volleyball game at granite hills high school. Decided to look for a place to have dinner at nearby since it was my birthday. My husband stumbled upon this place. Surprisingly good for a last minute find. Customer service was good and food was fast and delicious. Ambiance of the location was beautiful and really made me feel like we weren't in Apple Valley. I grew up here as a kid and have lived in Victorville and Barstow majority of my adult life and this place is such a great addition to the town. My daughter and granddaughter went to have dinner there on 2/28 at around 2:30pm. There were 2 couples eating on one side and a couple by the window and to gentlemen sitting at the bar. We chose to sit up where the big booths were under the tv. The bar tender came and took the drink order. My daughter ordered hot tea for almost 10 min we didn't have our order taken or get the hot tea. But the bar tender was over at the bar making drinks for who I don't know cause she didn't help any of the others that were there. This review is only for the brunch which is available on the weekends. I will have to return to try their regular menu on another day. We came in early for their brunch and were the only ones in the restaurant for quite awhile. The buffet area is in the courtyard. You get a choice of seating in the restaurant or outside. We chose indoors because it was already hot outside. The usual brunch buffet items were available like bacon, eggs, sausage, fruit, potatoes, and pastries. They were not quite ready with other items like the biscuits and the carving table, but the waitstaff, which were very friendly and efficient, asked if we would like a slice of prime rib and a made to order omelette. They would bring the items to us along with some biscuits. Serviceable brunch buffet. The buffet line items were good. The bacon was very crispy which I liked very much. The slice of prime rib I was given was generous in size but way overcooked and dried out. The waitress did bring out some horseradish to the table since it was not available next to the carving station. My mushroom omelette tasted good and was big in size. The Kouign-Amann pastry was small but very flaky. Overall, I do not know if I would return for the brunch anytime soon just due to the limited items available for the price point. Hi! Don't be afraid to try this place again! It's clear The Townsend is beautifully built--there's no denying the designers take pride in their craft. I can say I'm happy with the food! The cooks in the kitchen clearly know what they're doing, and you can tell they care about their craft, too! We ordered: Pork Belly Bacon Bites, Mac and Cheese Balls w/ a Chicken Caesar Salad.
