I like coming here for friendly service (most of the time) but for being a chain store that takes pride and value in what they sell, it's quite a disappointment. I included a picture of some of the fruit that looked so old already, it was so sad they were selling it like that. Needless to say some oranges were already molding and bananas were also rotting out. When I got to the dairy section, some of their yogurts were expired the day before and some were expiring that same day. I was there late at night, close to closing so I hope they did something to update their products. Rating their steak fajitas from the meat dept. First time grabbing some of their steak fajitas. Was looking forward to dinner. Cooked them only to find out they are spicy and super salty. This is a review for the bakery which one fay I drove to all these different places trying to find a pretty cupcake. Mind you I said pretty , nothing unusual or strange but it could not say Happy Birthday on it. They had some single funky looking 4th of July Cupcakes ( well the coloring anyway) but it had these plastic signs stuck in each and everyone of them that said Happy Birthday. I kid you not. So I mill around the bakery where there is only one girl working and she is decorating a cake. I dont want to disturb her in case she is in the zone you know. But after she finished and cleaned up I am still waiting for her to acknowledge me. After awhile she does and is very nice and tries to be helpful but in the end she could not deliver. I thought she might offer to open one of the ones that say Happy Birthday , take the sign out , then cover up the holes with more frosting. Nope. I go here more often than usual because they have a Students and Teachers Credit Union ATM that also accepts deposits from Kinecta. If you're in a Co-Op Credit Union and want to deposit / withdraw money, the ATM inside this market's a pretty good and reasonably safe way to do it. It's also by 2 Redbox Kiosks, so you can pickup and drop off movies and games as well. I will admit that most of the prices here don't match those of nearby Grocery Outlet, Walmart, and Food 4 Less, but they're "good enough" in my opinion, and they have some staples like the "everyday value" $1 Calidad corn tortillas that can be cheaper than competitors. Their meats are usually quite good as well, and the Deli can take special requests if they have someone on hand who can do them. For example, my family has had chicken thighs (with the skin on) deboned on request, and we also have beef neckbones custom cut regularly. I've been coming to this location for years (since 2009) and I haven't had any issues with customer service, and think it's usually good. I wouldn't rate it as great or exceptional, but also wouldn't give it 1 star either. All in all, it's a good place to drop by to pick up a few groceries or something quick to eat (the fried chicken is nice, and reasonably priced) while doing some banking and / or checking out movies and games. read more

He is not professional in any way and should be removed from the front line if he doesn't know how to communicate effectively with customers. I have been to many stater brothers and never have I been mocked and disrespected. I didn't say a word to this man but thank you and I did not deserve how he treated me at all. I hope stater brothers strongly considers removing him from a customer service position because nobody else should be treated like this. I dont know what happened to this location but it has gone down hill. I came between Thanksgiving and Christmas Im not a regular Stater Bros. shopper but my husband for some reason loves it. We would go to the Bellflower location but since its closed he goes on Firestone and i would run in here when i needed a cake or deli items i couldnt get at Smart & Final or Food 4 Less, where i do my regular grocery shopping. The deli counter workers are the worst employees ive seen at any place of business. The young latina girl that helped me was doing her best to get the line down along with a white female worker. Need i say there were 3 black females, one even appeared to be a supervisor, being unprofessional, loud talking about their personal business and talking about another employee all while there is a line of ppl and we can all hear their conversation and vulgar language. I will get my items from the Artesia/Pioneer location from now on. And from reading the other reviews management seems to be scared of the employees, this store should have been closed instead of the Bellflower one, they had their issues but not like this one. It was slow and there was 6 registers open. I had a full cart of groceries and simply went to the closest checkout. I had half the cart unloaded before someone said it was 15 items or less. I apologized and they said it was ok. As I continued to unload with their permission they asked if I brought bags. I had not. They they got serious attitude and said that was messed up. One of the larger supermarket chains that serves the neighborhood well. The location is convenient and the selection of produce, dairy, bakery, deli, seafood and meats, OTC pharmacy items, magazines, cards, and everything else you'll need under one roof. There are even some organic products that are being sold, not as many as other major markets but enough for me to appreciate when I want those items and don't have to drive too far. Staff is usually busy doing their work stocking shelves or cleaning aisles but when asked they step up and help me to find things. Checkers are awesome as well. read more

This is the exchange we had: me: may I please have an order of the 16 piece of fried chicken? fca: im in the middle of a big order, like 150, and I'm counting... so I can after. me: okay. Do you know about how long that will take? fca: well until I'm done. me: is there another associate that can help me? fca: ..... no.. me: may I please speak to your supervisor or manager? fca: yeah he's on register 6 ... He was on register 5. I waited in line and spoke to the manager, an older white man, and he addressed the situation promptly and professionally. I thank you for that. I walked back the counter and could hear the aforementioned associate saying something to the affect of, "im tired of this shit." My Ralph's in Bellflower closed after 25 years so I found this Stater Bros. on the way home from work and I decided to shop here for its convenient location. I wish I found this store sooner, it's great. They have it all and they do it right. The meat department has what I want, from pork shoulder and rib eye steaks, to skinless Salmon and shrimp. The deli has a very nice selection of cheeses, breads, and meats. The bakery has cookies, cakes, cheesecake, etc. The staff here is remarkable and professional. Prices are better than Ralph's, the employees are better than Ralph's... goodbye Ralph's!... Hello Stater Bros. PS, I held off on this review pending multiple visits and interactions with as many store employees as possible. I asked an employee where something was, he did tell me, but he acted rude about it. It's as if I was inconveniencing him. Yesterday 8/2/18, I purchased some carne asada citrus marinated and some chicken leg citrus marinated and bbq it at home as soon as I purchased it. The carne asada and chicken tasted like it was starting to go bed and smell bed. The carne asada is not even cut, they did not remove the fat on it. I got close to 3 pounds and got two pieces almost 1 1/2 feet long with fat on one side. It was discus ting taste on both carne asada and the chicken. I always buy my meat at the Stater Bros Market on Spring in Long Beach and have never had issues with their meat. Last time I would patronize this location. I was just in the neighborhood. My local grocery store for years now. Contrary to other yelpers, I like this mini version of the larger Stater Bros supermarkets elsewhere. They have smaller quantities and thats not a problem. Same weekly sales so Im good. Customer service is awesome, I would guess 90% of the staff knows me by now. Never had issues with any of them, not even Gerald as one person mentioned in a previous review. All of them are great! The main reason I'm posting this review is Jesus in the produce is RUDE! If he worked for me he would need to change the way he treats customers. In the past I've seen elderly women ask him questions and his response is absolutely RUDE! Again today some women were asking him about the onions. I guess they were classified wrong. And of course Jesus has to be a jerk to these women which over the years is common. One of the ladies walked away and told my wife WOW HES RUDE. Please, please, please... make your employees handling food wear gloves!! In the deli, I've only seen the ones slicing meat wear them. They NEVER wear gloves when packaging the premade sides or fried chicken. I went a few days ago and a young girl with long acrylic nails was helping me. She was trying to pick up the dish the mac and cheese was in for easier access but was having trouble... then, her thumb goes right in the mac and cheese. And she continued on scooping up right from the spot her finger went in. AND the butchers are bare handed when cutting up the meat. But the person taking your order and packing the meat wears gloves. I only kept coming back because it was closer to home but I think it will be worth the drive for better sanitation practices. read more

I have gone to this store for years and today was nothing special, but as I walked to the check stand I noticed a woman with a dog sitting in the shopping cart. This is a grocery store, not Petsmart and no this dog wasn't a service animal as it had no identification or vest to show it was a working animal. This is upsetting because there are fleas, dog hair and other things that dogs can carry on their bodies. Where is management to say anything? I dont think I'll be returning to this store. read more
