I remember when #116 was built. This store is not what it used to be. The employees look slovenly, the parking lot is always filthy and I bag my own groceries 50% of the time. I really wish someone from Corporate would come in undercover all week and see how this place operates. Hire some quality individuals and fire your manager. Oh and when customers are doing the work of employees, maybe don't charge for bags. I guess you can keep low standards when customers are at your mercy and need groceries. I have transportation and can shop elsewhere, but seniors and disabled people don't always have that option. It's sad to see the decline because I know what Stater Brothers used to be. read more

AND, the cashiers Araceli and Natasha are incredibly awesome ladies and crystal, who works in produce . This review is for the Stater Bros in Phelan Ca. I am a longtime customer for Stater Brothers Phelan. I have no problems with the Management or with the storage in general. My problem is with the bakery department. I've been purchasing their raisin bran muffins frequently until lately. They've changed the recipe for the raisin bran muffins and they are not the same nor are there any good. One of the differences is that they added bran flakes on top which turn into hard flakes that you can barely chew. I don't know if the recipe changed for the muffin itself, but it just does not taste the same. I ended up throwing away a package of three. I've gone from buying two packages of brown muffins a week to purchasing none. They are that bad. Please if someone isn't listening go back to the original recipe for the raisin bran muffins. I have been a loyal Stater Bros. shopper for over 20 years. The store has always been known for its excellent customer service and quality products, and in all that time, I have never had a terrible experience--until today. Robert, a cashier, made it very clear that he is not there to provide customer service. When a guest needed assistance finding snowflake pasta, I kindly asked if a courtesy clerk could help her. He responded that the position no longer exists and emphasized that employees are not "slaves." I was shocked to hear someone speak that way, especially in a customer-facing role. The customer had already looked for the product on her own and clearly needed help, yet no one made an effort to assist her. I ended up giving her the pasta from my cart and decided I would shop for it at another location instead. I have tremendous respect for employees in all positions, but the lack of courtesy and willingness to help was unacceptable. I'm leaving this review because this level of customer service is not what Stater Bros. stands for, and it's disappointing to see it decline. On a positive note, you need more employees like Stephanie Z., who is one of the best cashiers at this location and represents the brand well. People used to complain about a district manager named Alfred--but honestly, Alfred needs to come back. It seems some employees have lost sight of what customer service truly means, and it's time for leadership to step in. read more

The older MAN with the shoulder length hair is rude. I did nothing wrong and he was straight up rude, it's like he wants to be sarcastic but he's horrible at it. I suggest that you avoid his line as often as possible to avoid any rude remarks. read more

I just went into stater brothers on Thanksgiving an associate from the meat department. He is actually the department manager from the meat department I think his name is Wade. I was in a pinch and he helped me out with a ham. This stater brothers is the best one I've seen ever. It's clean people are friendly and their meat department just looks immaculate and beautiful. I shopped here three times while I was staying with a friend in nearby Pinion Hills. It had everything one would want from a Stater Brothers - just like any cookie cutter grocery chain should have. The notes I have are - some produce was not as good as others - lettuce was over priced and had brown parts - there was next to no "Manager's discount" section for meat - and the discount "fast sell" rack of baked goods and random items was a real cheat, with the price tags written in a way that it looked like there was a significant discount but it was actually only about 10% (not worth it for a loaf of fresh bread that will be hard as a rock in two days). read more

I have never met friendlier people in my life. Each time I go in they know me even during Covid! Sometimes I can't find anything I am looking for, (not their fault as I am blind in my left eye and can't see out if the right lol) I ask anyone that works there and they take me directly to find the product. Their selection is great even though they are smaller than some of the other stores and if they are out, simply ask and they will check in back for you. Service with a smile! The workers here are very helpful and friendly. Being that this is the only grocery stores for miles, it always has what I need. There is a fresh sushi bar near the deli which I was a little skeptical, but after trying this sushi is soooo good! Very fresh and flavorful. Today I went shopping at Stater Bros Phelan. I dropped my change purse just outside my car door but didn't know that I had lost it. When I returned to my car, I was very surprised to be met by a young man who is an employee of Staters Phelan. His name is Samuel Ponce. He was out collecting carts and told me that he found a small purse by my car. He had tucked it into my car door handle so I would see it if he wasn't around when I got back. I was sooooo surprised and happy to see that this guy had not only found my purse but he also made a solid attempt to have it returned to me. I offered him a reward and he flat refused, saying that his morals would not let him take a reward. So,,,, If there is any supervisor or management position who is responsible to give Samuel his employee evaluations, it is my heartfelt request that he be recognized for his honesty. I had about $50.00 in small bills and change in that purse. Another person would have stolen it, but Samuel went the extra mile to make sure I got it back. THANK YOU SAMUEL PONCE!!! read more

I grew up going to this state brothers as it is an only grocery store in a little desert town. It was very crowded, per usual. But the shelves were stocked and the store was clean. The cashier was very friendly. Parking lot is very busy. The carts were at the front of the store in their nice rows and not strewed out amongst the cars. read more

This store is horrible. The only reason I shop there is because the prices are reasonable and it has a decent selection. Customer service is terrible. Baggers/ bag boys look at you like you're crazy when you ask for help to your car- this happened to an elderly family member of mine. Checkers don't even acknowledge you when you are standing right in front of them. They are too busy talking to their fellow employees about their weekend and evening plans. Like I said, I feel like I have no choice shopping there because of where I live. But this Stater Bros needs an employee and customer service overhaul! read more

The only saving grace of this dump is that it's close. While other reviewers said the prices were reasonable, I found them a bit on the high side. Fresh fruit and veggies? Forget it. It looks like this is where apples and carrots go after they've gotten too old and nasty for other stores. Most of their food is old. I've bought grapes, bread, and other items there that grew mold after just a couple days. Blame me if you like, but the stuff I buy 20 miles away seems to last a good long time, and it has to travel 20 extra miles in the desert heat. Checking out takes a while...it's nice to have an Iphone I can play games on while waiting for the checker to fiddle around with whatever the guy in front of me is trying to pay with. They're not open 24 hours, so they do tend to get mobbed during open hours, making the wait even longer. The parking lot is a nightmare, though that has more to do with the locals than the staff. I don't go there unless I absolutely have to, and usually it's just to use the ATM and Red Box. UPDATE 03/15/2015 I was in there a couple weeks ago to pick up those tiny little tangerines, called Cuties. I saw some of them rotting right there in the store. I only go to this store in an extreme emergency and because it's right around the corner from my house. As previously mentioned by another viewer yes indeed it is very well stocked and super clean but the prices are through the roof especially the meat and organic produce. I've gotten into the habit of waiting for Farmers Market on Monday's which is also around the corner from Stater Bros. Like I mentioned before I only go here in extreme emergency but most times I plan my days and go into Victorville to Winco which is another grocery store that I love, at least here I get double for what I pay at Stater's. Pretty sad when employees of a store don't know which aisle a product is located on, but it's downright pathetic when one asks an ASSISTANT MANAGER and gets the rolled eyes, "I have no idea, try aisle 14 or 15" comment, and she's STILL WRONG. Yes, that happened to me once with an assistant manager. And although a couple of other employees were friendlier when asked about other items at other times, I've been given incorrect locations for products at least three other times. Not to mention, they do not carry a lot of items that customers take for granted at other Stater Brothers locations. Being the only game in town, I guess they think they don't have to try as hard. Big parking lot. You can find almost everything what you need. Great price on Organic items such as milk, eggs and chicken.

While somewhat no frills, this is a respectable grocery store with a large selection of foods. Maybe not the most exciting store I've ever been in, and somewhat lacking in the natural and organic foods section, if you're not special diet they have everything you would need here for your family this is pretty much where we shop 90% of the time. Sometimes the meat seems a little bit old and they have always allowed us to return it. The people who work here very nice and always polite and helpful. read more
