This is the first time that I have been disappointed with Stater Bros. I waited almost 10 minutes in the deli section waiting for some chicken tenders. After a while finally helped me. I asked if they were fresh and I was told they were. Well, they weren't and they have been sitting for a while. I asked if they had any fresh ones I was told they didn't, well after I got mine and started to walk away, they brought out some fresh ones. The line was song long for me to wait, that I just came home. Like I said, this was the first time that I have been disappointed with the deli section. Why in the world are baggers just standing around at check stands where there are zero groceries to be bagged, meanwhile two check stands over there's over $100 orders just piling up. Baggers need more training, checkers also need to tell the baggers to move around at the check stands. Every single time I'm there I am bagging my own groceries (which I actually prefer since obviously the baggers don't know how to do it) and waiting in long lines because there are either no baggers or the baggers are just standing there looking into La La Land. I bought one basket of small tomatoes which was filled with fuzzy mold, one bag of six avocados of which four were rotten, one pear which was rotten and one Plum which was edible. What is going on? I use online ordering because I am physically unable to shop in store. Every time I order online from this location, they don't look at the notes given for items. For example, ordering turkey lunch meat from the deli. I requested for it to be thinly sliced. Every, single, time they ignore the notes and I get very thick slices of lunch meat. Gross, disappointing, really upsetting, and a waste of money because I won't eat it. I understand for some it's not a big deal, but when you can't shop yourself, these are the things that make a difference. We purchased an artichoke Stater Bros. on 10/1/25 and cooked it (fully cooked it) on 10/3/25 so not even two days later from when we bought it and after consuming most of it and cutting into the heart of the artichoke there were MAGGOTS in it. I'm a walking talking fall hazard who has encountered nothing but kindness from the employees here. Today I was helped to my car by Brooklyn who made me feel like a real person and not a cripple, while she loaded 2 weeks worth of groceries into my car. We talked about our dogs and laughed as she helped me feel like a real person who was shopping for groceries like everyone else. I also met a fun produce person who had me try a grape because he wasn't sure if I'd like them. Then on to a sweet young man who helped me in the deli. The food at the stater bros deli is good, it's not the best, but if ur in there for a quick yummy bite, that's your place. The Mac n cheese is my favorite!! I get it EVERY time i go, and it's delicious, sometimes cold, but still yummy, the service here is amazing as well. I ordered from the Deli of one BBQ chicken and one rib. I even pointed at what I wanted. First, she try to give me a regular piece of chicken. I told her that I wanted one thigh BBQ and a rib. This person got irritated because of my specific order. Then she try to give me a different piece, which was the top rear part of the chicken when I specifically asked for a thigh. I pointed at a piece that I thought was the thigh and she responded with an attitude stating that what I was requesting was a breast. I wanted to order some other items, but this lady with gray hair was just rude. That I ended with just the two pieces of chicken that I really didn't want. Lousy customer service. Don't people have the right to order what they want anymore? read more

This is a review for the positive staff interaction I had with a Les Porter who works at our local Stator Bros. I was having a really bad night and had run in for a few last minute times. On a whim, I grabbed some orange juice to go with my vodka at home (it was that kind of night.) I saw the juice was on sale for rewards members but shrugged it off. I just wanted to get home and put the day behind me. I got to checkout and Les asked if I was a rewards member (I think that's what they're called.) I said no. He asked if I wanted to sign up. I said no. Normally, I like to make small talk at checkout but I just stared off, giving short answers. I assumed he would brush me off and leave me to my night. Instead, he very kindly and briefly explained the benefits of signing up for rewards, including saving money on sale items. I said, "Oh, like that orange juice?" He said, "yeah, is that one of the sale items?" I said it was. Instead of pestering me to sign up, he gave me a number to type in (some kind of override) to get the sale anyway, (even though I could've easily signed up right then and there.) Then told me two easy ways I could sign up later and let it go. I know it sounds small, but I was pretty taken back. I was obviously not in a good mood. I wasn't being chatty or friendly. I wasn't making a lot of eye contact. And he decided to do something kind anyway. He wasn't impatient and he didn't badger me. It was a simple and unexpected act of kindness but those mean a lot, especially on really bad days. So thank you. read more

Great supermarket! The prices are amazing...I forget how good they are until I go to another grocery store. They have a really great selection and a lot of weekly specials...just today bought an 8 pack of 20 oz Gatorade for only $3.99 - no loyalty card required. I really like that they carry Fit for Life breads, fresh...it can be hard to find. This store can get really crowded on the weekends, particularly in the afternoon. Parking lot is kind of a pain but you get used to it. If you like Stater Bros but not the crowds here (I've heard it's the busiest SB around), try the Poway location. read more

But Joseph started out my wonderful night shopping with my daughter by going above and beyond with help in the meat department and then Danny was there to greet us with a fun game of find the Elf while we waited in our short line! Great Job Danny thank you for making my daughters night! Also Adriana for checkout was so quick and nice as usual. Unfortunately this place just keeps getting worse and worse. I had once asked a manager if they carried an item and his response, while he was speaking to his buddy stocking the freezer, was, "I don't know". I stood there for a few seconds looking at him then thanked him and walked away. We are constantly finding brown lettuce in our bagged salads and the last time we bought some chicken there it went rotten 7 days prior to the sell buy date. Last time I called them it was for a price on something and I was put on hold then asked if I'd be ok getting called back. Hey, it's better than, "I don't know" but WOW! Don't order a cake from here! I ordered a cake in advanced and when I went to pick it up a week later, they said the didn't have my order. I was told the manager was on lunch and to come back. I told the girl I couldn't because the party was in Riverside and that's why I picked an earlier time. The manager of the store came and said they will make it right now, just wait 15-20 min. So I waited about 30 mins and got the cake, it looked very rushed and I felt like they could've done way better. No compensation for not having the cake, no compensation for waiting. So according to this store location. They care more about making money. Then enforcing a county health mandatory order. That everybody must be wearing a mask covering. While grocery shoping. Even though all other stores are in fact doing this. What makes this store so different? Answer, there's nothing different about this business. Other than they don't seem to care about customer safety. I was shopping at this store less then a week ago. And on top of not enforcing this mandatory face mask order. They have no signs up explaining this mandatory order. Which from what I have read and seen. All other stores have. Nor do they have any store associates handing out masks at the doors to this store. Despite what I am being told. Unless this is a new thing that was literally just implemented. I didn't even see a store associate keeping track of how many customers are in this store at a time. Which according to the health guidelines in San Diego. Stores also have to do. In accordance to the social distancing order. Every other store is doing this except this store location. Which tells me this store cares less about customer safety. And more about not turning away customers simply because they want money. All grocery stores are essential. All grocery stores are also following these guidelines and mandatory county orders. I stand by my previous words. I don't recommend shopping at this store. Safety should always come first. read more

Went to my favorite, friendly StaterBros store in Ramona today at 12:30 and was served by the checker from hell. Her name was Simone N and not only was she nasty and passive aggressive , she overcharged me. I only had 30.00 or so of groceries so I looked when I walked out of the store and sure enough. I had to go back in find a manager , a lady with dark hair who always seems to be very busy but she was helpful and quickly resolved the overcharge. This checker ended our transaction with " You have a nice day" in the nastiest of tones inferring she did not mean any of it. I'm not sure what her issue was but when I entered the express line Michelle was checking and it looked like Simone was there to relieve her and not happy about it. I have shopped here since the store was opened many years ago and have never had anything even close to this. I left the store shaking . I think if she hates people so much maybe she should work elsewhere . read more

Bought three tri tips on sale today($4.99/lb; 4.5lbs/3.5lbs/and 3.4lbs each), got them home, opened them up for trimming/repackaging for freeze; turned them over and WOWZERS! The fat on 2 of them was 1/2-1" thick and the other was 1/2" of fat. 2+lbs of fat total for all three. I don't mind paying 4.99lb for meat; just not fat. Took my receipt and fat back to the meat dept, gave him my receipt and the bag-o-fat; told him about how much I trimmed off. The meat man didn't seem to concerned, saying there is supposed to 1/4" of fat and 'finger gap' measured the pile of fat and said: 'Yup, looks about right". I told him again that the fat was 1/2 to 1" thick and asked what he could do for me. He said at that point he could not do anything. I then said that I wasn't going to stand there and argue with him all day; I'll just take my receipt and pile of fat home, and get my tri tips from Albertson's from now on. I understand this may be an 'isolated' incident, and Staters has usually had nice tri tips in the past. We have been loyal customers since they opened their door. But due to the attitude of the meat man; we will continue to buy other groceries at Staters, just not some of our cuts of meat.....Maybe I should apply for a job in the meat dept; trimming tri tips!! Got checked out at around 9:30 PM. Rude service! No acknowledgement, no hi or hello, just keep talking to your coworkers while you have people right in front of you. No eye contact or anything just horsing around. But you're okay with taking my money and telling me to pay. Just handing the receipt to me and nothing else. Like really? Avoid getting a sandwich here at all costs! It took half an hour at the Deli counter to have an awful Veggie sandwich prepared. Not only did the employee lack training in sandwich making (and even admitted this to us), but she spent 15 minutes wandering around searching the store for each ingredient!! First she searched around for whole wheat bread, then went to the rear of the store to look for avocado, then went shopping in the retail section for tomatoes! She had no idea where to spread the mayo, said there was no salt and pepper, and finally to add insult to injury she forgot to add the Swiss! Unbelievable experience! Go somewhere else! read more

I shop here regularly. The shelves are always well stocked and the prices are reasonable. The meat department is great. Good meat, quick service and fair prices. The produce department is also top notch. The bakery department has a few issues when asked for special orders. I used to come in and ask for the Irish Soda Bread without the sugar on the outside and sliced. When I came back the next day, first time was perfect. Second time, it was sliced but had the sugar coating. The next time, they hadn't done it at all, so handed me a ball of raw dough with cooking instructions for free. I went home, cooked it and realized how easy it is to make at home and what a wonderful smell it has while baking. I now make my own. I do wish that more of the cashiers would smile more often. Trust me, I am no happier at shopping than they are at ringing up my total, but I still smile. * * *Update July 20* * * I was having Sunday dinner at my house this week and decided on hot chicken tenders. They only had 8 and I needed 10. The ones that they had looked terrible and dried out. I asked when they would be making some fresh ones and was told "they are fresh". I left and went to "the other grocery place" instead. Theirs looked pretty good, so I asked for 10. The lady behind the counter OFFERED to fix me some fresh hot ones if I was still shopping and could wait 8 minutes. I definitely wont be buying hot foods here any more. read more

This is our "go-to" grocery store - even though it is a 35-45 minute drive away. Living in the mountains you want to go to a place you can meet pretty well all your shopping needs in one place. We rarely have to go somewhere else to meet those needs. All-in-one-place shopping: good selection of grocery items, a Wells Fargo bank, florist, good prices, pretty decent produce area, good selection of alcohol, deli, and more. The store is clean, well lit, tidy, and well organized - better than other major grocery store chains in Ramona. They are quick to open new check-out lines when needed so, lines are rarely too long. Customer service is excellent. We have always had courteous, fast, and knowledgeable cashiers. Other staff has been helpful and friendly (whether managers or stock-persons). It is also close to restaurants, a decent Goodwill, two pharmacies, and has plenty of parking. It does need more places to put shopping carts after use. read more

Stater brothers in Ramona is NOT doing their best during the coronavirus mandate here in California. They are not enforcing the fact that people must wear masks when entering their store. This is endangering a large percentage of the population of seniors or immune compromised persons that enter their store because management in Ramona does not enforce the mandate to Protect everyone shopping. I emailed the corporate office and explained the situation and they threw it back in the hands of the local management here in Ramona. So, you've lost another customer because you are wimps! Hope you are satisfied! All you had to do is to comply just as you did with your employees wearing masks. The only difference in the mandate is that you can get fined or closed down by county officials if masks are not worn by your employees. But you don't comply by not enforcing the rest of the mandate. This is our go to market in town. Their meat counter has good selection at hood prices. The check out lines arent generally long. The employees are friendly. The drli is good and has one of those yummy soda machines you can add flavors to. You know im a soda freak. The deli counter can be crowded and ypu have to purhase the cup before getting your sida so often i skip this treat. We got the fried chivken in large quantities for our wedding reception. Hot and ready on time at a great price. Think of them next time you need catering! Add you own beans from costco, rollls and a salad and BAM! Wonder meal for the masses at a fraction of a catering company fee! Parking can be congested at busy times. Julie is a great employee as is Greta the checker. Love our neighborhood market.
