Tasty hole-in-the-wall taco place. Every meat was super savory. The tripe in particular tasted crunchy and delicious and not gamey at all. The staff don't know English particularly well, but plenty enough to get by. I could tell plenty of locals frequent this area. Visited 7/29/2025 I Was told this place inside of a Small Mexican Market in Ramona had some decent House made Street Tacos. Well Today was the day I found out what the taco talk was all about. Nice little Mexican Market with a nice selection of food items. Has a nice Butcher Style Meat Counter and a decent selection of meats to choose from. They have Fresh Tortillas brought in each day hot and fresh ready in a giant Insulated Igloo Cooler. The sweet lady I met and the butcher who also cooks some tasty Street tacos I tried were very friendly and helpful. The prices were very fair with most tacos going for $2.49ea. Stuffed with tender Meats of your choosing and topped with your choice of toppings. The in house made Hot Sauces both were excellent. Put a smile on my face. I ordered two each of, The Carne Asada Tacos. The Al Pastor. Tacos. The Carnitas Tacos. And The Lengua Tacos. Wow was i surprised. I never expected to like them all but I did. I ate one of each there and took the other four home for later. 30 seconds in the microwave and they were just as good as the ones I had earlier. I'll be coming here a lot more now that I know how tasty they are. 8 Street Tacos and a Bottle of Orange Soda Wes $25.67 out the door. Very reasonable by todays standards. Best tacos I've had. Went to a party in Ramona that was catered by Pepe's and I almost made myself sick because I just could not stop eating! I then recommended them to friends hosting a baby shower at a local winery and Pepe's came through big time. Recently for breakfast I had the pleasure of trying Pepe's Tacos for the first time. Tucked just inside Pepe's Produce, this place is the real deal! One of the best spots in Ramona for classic street tacos! It's actually a pretty crusty little Mexican market with a taqueria inside. Very small yet inexpensive menu of great tacos. I ordered two tacos al pastor. Would you believe these are only $1.25 each?? They were excellent! Exceeded my expectations. You basically get the meat on torts and dress it up as you see fit with a variety of self-serve salsas, onions, cilantro and whatnot. Menu is very small and basic. Mainly just inexpensive, tasty tacos. I think you can get a quesadilla and maybe menudo. Pepe's is on the north side of Main St, just east of San Vicente/78. It's in a building many know as the old Pizza Hut. It still retains some of the recognizable architectural features of a classic Pizza Hut restaurant. read more

This gringo was very comfortable shopping at Pepe's. Got some wonderful salsa there--tasty enough to please my husband but not so spicy I couldn't eat it. I assume they make it there...no labels. Also got some very fresh Tortilleria Salsa tortillas, placed conveniently in a cooler right by the door. Limes were cheap...so were the oranges. Forgot to get avocados but they looked pretty good as well. I got a nice bag of goods for under $7. read more

Their pan dolce (Mexican sweet bread), is the best I have ever had. But you have to buy it in the morning when it is fresh. Their street tacos are like two in one. Big tacos. Their Mexican sandwich, torta, are very good. Everything you can share not unless you are very hungry. Their produce is priced well. We have their food at least twice a month. I went here on my way home the other day, it was a Sunday, to pick up some tamales. The place was very low lit and uncomfortably hot and danky. Apparently they were closing up because it was near 8 p.m. PST. I went to an area where they had a big commercial sized stove and a girl was cleaning around the area. I asked her where I could find the tamales and she said they don't have tamales there. She explained that they have taco's and burrito's, "Stuff like that". I thought a tamale was similar to that since, well, you know, it's latin food which I've always thought was at least a little similar to other types of latin food. Apparently my assumption is way off. At least they didn't give me a hard time about wearing the stupid scamdemic mask. That was nice. I asked her if they had any of the taco's or burrito's she mentioned and she told me they don't because the store is closing. I found that odd since they were still open but then it dawned on me that they must have closed that area. I asked her what time they close that area and she told me "About 7:15 to 7:25. Thus, they technically aren't open till 8 rather the other parts of the place are open till then. From what I have been used to all my life was a service of that type actually being open until the hours displayed and not just close to those hours. I asked if they had horchata, nope. I asked if they had churro's, nope. I asked if they had cinnamon chips, nope. So I set down the 1 item I was gonna buy, which I never tried before, and made my way out. Pretty crappy store if you ask me and my business there isn't either needed or relevant apparently. Also noticed something else odd which was there were no people that looked like me. They catered a party for us, their tacos were AMAZING. Seriously the tacos were so delicious. There was enough food I even had a bunch of leftovers. They people that came to cater for us were so kind and super friendly. I definitely will be using them for all my catering needs! They won a customer for life. A cute little shop to buy basic needs. You can eat on site. They make great tacos. And have a salsa bar. Lots of drink options. Not a bad place to buy meat and Mexican food to make at home. I lived in the San Diego area for 30 years and have eaten at many Mexican restaurants. On a recent visit to Near-by Ramona Ca.my grandson suggested we try his favorite Mexican restaurant. Pepe's Produce by far is the best Mexican food I have ever eaten.I had a Carnea asada burrito and the others had Their Adobada tacos. This was by far the most favorable burrito I have ever had. The meat was outstanding and it was not mostly rice and beans like most other places. This will be my go to place in the future. A taco de pollo and one pastor, both were excellent, freshly made right in front of me and a nice selection of serious salsa action. But timid gringos beware cause the place is definitely funky. I'm fine with that having spent years south of the border -- your mileage, however, may vary. If you need a more pristine spot with comfortable booths, good service in a family atmosphere go to Mar de Cortez right around the corner. Awesome. Pepe's ain't that kinda place.
