Went to purchase a few items saw they had a few items as Managers promotion reduced priced in the reach in Coolers near the yogurt department it had a large white sign there Too promoting the deal I grabbed one at check out it rang up regular price $12 the csa said well that's the price after I questioned it. I said ok take it out for now. I paid , went to go back and check myself. There was another lady back there stocking some items. I asked her like aren't these on sale. I purchased what was labeled as ribeye steak, but it was clearly chuck -- thin, chewy, and misleading. The bone structure gave it away, and the cut was barely ¼ inch thick. It looked like they sliced one steak in half and advertised it as a deal. That's not a sale -- that's a sleight of hand. I planned steak sandwiches and did everything right: pounded it with a meat tenderizer, used baking soda, seasoned it beautifully. The flavor was decent, but the texture? Tougher than my husband's leather belt. Not exactly the satisfying bite I had in mind. This kind of deceptive labeling is unacceptable. Overall, the store is great. The only negative is usually the Deli service. The women here seem to hate what they do, very unpleasant, poor interaction with clients. I feel uncomfortable asking for my chicken. They get irritated when they double the amount of potato wedges I wanted and I ask them to take some off. Today my elderly mother went to pick up chicken for dinner. On top of having to wait 45 minutes for just the chicken the clerks that were helping her prepare her order were extremely rude, refused to allow her to order then pay while they were preparing her order. They told her she had to go back and forth for each item and pay. After she spoke to the cashier Samantha they allowed her to pay for it all at once. When she went to pick up her order the girl spilt the coleslaw all over the counter and my mother. Once she got home after all of this EVERY PIECE OF CHICKEN WAS NOT COOKED. This is NOT my regular stater brothers where I order my cakes and here why. This is the ugliest cake I ever had. I was talking to the Cake decorator she said this is what was written on the paper . I told her these is not what I asked for. I ask if she could fix it she just said " this is what you ordered " I told her no I want yellow and roses it was supposed to be a white cake with yellow boarding and happy birthday in yellow. You cannot see happy birthday because it's yellow on yellow. Again I ask can you fix it and just refrost the cake. She don't want to hear what I had to say. On February 6th I went into the store and at the Deli counter I encountered 2 young gentleman who were extremely helpful and showed that they cared about everything from my customer experience to making sure the individuals I was purchasing the items for were going to enjoy the item (coleslaw ) in the consistency that they liked it. Please make sure if you go to this store to check your code dates. Careful with the meat department too, check the color of your food and smell your meat before cooking it and serving it to your family. We received gray rotted chicken thighs a few weeks ago. Called and spoke to the manager, Daniel, who didn't seem very concerned that we received spoiled chicken from his store. He told us to toss the chicken and the next time we go in we could get new chicken, which is great and all but his tone and lack of compassion or concern was what bothered us. He didn't thank us for letting him know, nor did he apologize that we received spoiled chicken. Fast forward two weeks later, finally go in to grab the chicken they owed us, along with a few other things since we're there already. Stop hiring bad people. I'm 40 years old, & I talked myself out of reacting. The young male person in the deli around 6:00 am or 7:00 am made it really hard to walk away. But again I'm 40 years old and I don't fight unless someone attacks me. But the employee was provoking me to get into an altercation. I was just shopping for groceries. And also the female in the deli that was at work that same morning between 6:00 and 7:00 am was right there with the young man. Cursing me out saying horrible things to me, & for absolutely "NO REASON" I never said anything to either of them. I have never met either of them. The whole situation is baffling to me. STORE#43 This place has expired food everywhere! It's annoying! Idk if i have bad luck or what but I'm always buying expired food from here. This is the third time it happens to me and it's so annoying. The first time it happened to me was at the end of last year. I bought some Santa Cruz strawberry jam and didn't realize it was one month expired when I bought it. I opened it two days later and ate it until A family member of mine pointed it out to me that it was one month expired!!! GROSS!! The second time I bought a drink and it was 1 day expired. Didn't realize until I came home and took a sip of it. It tasted nasty. Third time it happened to me was today. I bought an Eclair (pastry). I would think they would have them fresh but this was not the case I came home and was getting ready to eat but I noticed that on bottom of the sheet paper which the pastry sits on it said best my 3/15/18 but on the plastic box they gave me it said Best Buy 3/19/18.This was just gross to me. I live in Rialto and shop at this location all of the time. There is heavy foot traffic here, but the store employees know me and are always courtesy and kind. I especially like John in the meat department, he is so helpful and knowledgeable regarding cuts of meat. He even suggested an ingredient that helped me win my church's chili cook off. Granted this store isn't fancy as the one in North Fontana, but it serves the purpose admirably as a neighbor store. read more

So let's start off with the unprofessional workers in the bakery laughing and giggling while I ordered a white cake and they gave me a blue cake. Then the manager decides to offer a bag of ice lol but no discount on the cake they didn't follow the simple instructions of the cake that should've been a white butter crème and gold and blue sprinkles how do you get blue frosting from that lol. I officially give up on this location. It's right by home and I usually go because of convenience. Here's why this location is awful: They don't care about customer service. They could really use self checkout because not every customer wants to hear two CSRs bitching at other about wearing a brown vest (one was pissed at the other because he didn't have his brown vest on, but how could he changed his vest when he was the only one checking a line of seven people?). You have to show your ID for debit transactions. I wanted to get a money order tonight, I had my debit card to pay but I lost my DL, thus the reason I didn't use credit. But I couldn't use my debit without showing my ID. So I went to the in store ATM across the register and withdrew the daily maximum and came back before she could leave and got the money order. While this isn't the stupidest thing I've seen in customer service, it's pretty close and it pissed me off that I would be inconvenienced by "new" policy. You tell me to show ID or you can't do my transaction and I get around the so called policy. If I were committing fraud, your store wouldn't be liable as a debit pin number would have to be compromised by the cardholder. If I were committing fraud, I did it right in front of your face at the ATM across your damn register! I don't particularly like Wal Mart or the seedy looking check cashing places to get money orders, but I guess I'll go there instead. Stater Bros prices really aren't competitive, so I'll shop at Superior where the produce is better, the people are friendlier and I'm not asked to show ID when I have a debit card and a self identifying pin number. read more

Yes, "I've experienced better" (2 stars rating) is accurate for this Stater Brothers Market on the NE corner of Baseline & Waterman Avenue, in San Bernardino. We've shopped this location since well before the new store was built and it's, apparently, _never_ going to change. The products are similar to those a shopper would find in _any_ Stater Bros Market, but the customers: Whew! At times, there are SBCo employees, from the local Headstart Preschool, located in Waterman Gardens, (across the street), and others dangling their IDs on lanyards. But, not always. Usually, the store seems packed with the residents of those same Waterman Garden Federal Housing "Projects", across the street. I'm talking women without undergarments, or with deliberately displayed undergarments, or in their pyjamas & scuffy houseshoes - at all hours of the day & night. I've been present when a thief was exiting with a shopping cart of alcohol (drinking type) and the employees tried to stop _her_, which caused the men waiting just outside the door to jump out of their car and generally beat and threaten the employees. It was quite the spectacle! I'm just glad they didn't start _shooting!_ I've been through the aisles littered with wrappers & half-consumed Pepsi, etc cans stuffed into the shelves with opened (and empty) razor packages, etc. At one point, I started collecting everything such item and delivering it to the clerk at checkout. "Litter: Put it in its place" The discounted items are within expiration dates and are "good finds", when you find them. They do brisk business and have high turnover on inventory. That said, on one visit I found the Romano cheese expired by several months - and kept removing containers until there were none left on the display: ALL were EXPIRED by several months! I turned them in to the manager. And, on a separate occasion, I spotted "blue mold" in the Swiss packaged deli cheese package on display. Speaking of "deli": The deli items seem to expire quite rapidly. The meats (sliced) seem "slimy" after 1-2 days in our excellent refrigerator with "deli drawer". I don't know why that is, but wonder how long it takes them to sell each bulk meat by the slice... This is a bologna demographic type of store. I stopped buying Mortadella & Provolone special-sliced there years ago. The bakery has gone steeply downhill in recent years. It once was stellar and is now relegated to people wanting "bling" on their "welcome home from jail" cakes. No more tiramisu in the case. "Supply & demand". The meat's what made 'em famous, they're fond of anouncing in their ads. The back wall's Meat Department is spotty. Sometimes, there are meat cutters eager to please. Other times, they'll sourly tell you they can't get you (whatever) because whole crates of it are still frozen solid, "in the freezer". While I'm glad to know the meat's been solidly frozen, I'm not interested in buying previously frozen meats to bring home and re-freeze, (a big ding to the quality!). Sometimes, there are "ethnic cuts" available; in recent years I've noticed cuts for bulgoki offered in the display case, for example. The seafoods _often_ say, "Previously Frozen". The larger cuts of beef seem to deliberately "hide" huge, thick slabs of pure fat "waste" on the backside - (out of the consumers' inspection). Because of this, we stopped buying meats there, for the most part. The dairy section, located on the other half of the back wall often is out of the organic milk we purchase. Other times, there are scant containers offered. It isn't unusual to search for Minute Maid Limeade, or Florida Fresh Grapefruit juice & found them "out". The sour cream & yogurt don't get marked down - check the expiration dates prior to purchase! Once, I didn't. It was as though I were running a scam, they way the manager addressed me, reciept in-hand. Clearly, he thought I'd purchased a fresh sour cream only to bring an old one in from home. And this after decades of shopping there! Speaking of mgrs: They change frequently. The days of "knowing the manager" are long gone there now. Some long-time cashiers remain and all of them will greet you by name, once they know your name. They have a security guard now. But, he mostly just sits/stands at the entrance, observing & reporting. The parking lot is not patrolled; feels dangerous; is frequented by panhandlers; and, was the site of (2) crimes I fell victim to. The lavatories are to be avoided if at all possible. Seldom are there any supplies; often homeless "bathe" in the sink; and, the stench defies description. The produce section is fond of trimming Romaine, for example, until barely anything remains, day after day, but sells it for the same price as a "fresh" head. They are avid "end trimmers", lopping off the brown ends of "old & tired" veggies to make them _appear_ what they are not-at-all: FRESH Fresh - and Easy: A better market! read more
