I used to come here a lot back in 2018. Food has ALWAYS been amazing and still is! I was just soooooo bummed to see so many new faces. I came back about three months ago and noticed only two of the guys are still there. There used to be a really friendly awesome blonde chick there. I think the side of her head was shaved? I don't remember.. but she was so sweet and fun to chat with while waiting for my food. There is now this older lady there (maybe new owner?) and she is just so non personable! Ryan is still there making sandwiches and (Ron I think) is still there! But that cashier chick is gone! She used to jump in and make hoagies too. Decided to try this mom and pop sandwich shop because of the reviews unfortunately my experience wasn't great. Customer service was good super nice lady, unfortunately the food wasn't good, starting with the bread, it was extremely chewy my jaw was hurting from chewing and gave me a headache. I ordered the club sandwich, the turkey was slimy and grayish and weird tasting, the ham and bacon were okay, very dry sandwich not enough mayo. Soda machine wasn't working. The mac salad is store bought and not home made. This place was a no for me. My hero subs is a small local mom and pop shop in San Bernardino off of Mills. We decided to stop by because my mom wanted to it check out. She said she read somewhere that they hang up a local kids' art here who happens to be autistic. He does a bunch of different Disney art. So she wanted to see his art and try their hero sammy's. The owners/employees were really friendly and welcoming. Mom treated us to lunch. She got the hot 12-inch pastrami sammy. I opted for the 12-inch hot French dip sammy. Hubby opted for the 12-inch dirty girl sammy. We all agreed that the bread is pretty good here. Mom gave the sammy a 4 out of 5 and said it was tasty and spicy. Hubby gave his sammy a 4 out 5, just said the bread needed to be toasted. Then it would have been a 5. And I gave my sammy a 3.5 of 5 My sammy was good but not the best French Dip, I've had but decent for sure. Definitely would come here again and try something else. read more

Had the Do The Lou and French DIp - Pros: Do the Lou was the best sandwich I have had in a long time! the bacon was amazing - perfectly cooked and crunchy! In response to SMarquez, Let's start at the beginning I specifically said, in the first line, that this was my first time coming to your establishment. I did not fault the sandwich trainee as I could see he was struggling and I allotted for that thinking he must be new. The problem was the other guy in the gray hoodie he was the distractor. He was the one playing around laughing and making jokes. When he was slicing meat and cheese he was moving very slowly which, at first, made me think he was new. I have seen faster meat and cheese slicers at Jersey Mike's and Subway. If he's a long time employee he needs to work on his meat and cheese slicing skills. Now if you checked and you had no online orders that did not take more than 30 minutes that must mean the people that were there had walked in and ordered. This goes to my point of you taking too long to get people their food. As several people were already waiting to get their order before I came in and as I sat there for 43 minutes it took a while for them to get their food. You stated that I was told there was going to be a long wait and that I chose to wait. Unfortunately that is not what I wrote and I was NOT told there would be a long wait as I would have left just as the others that walked out did. As for the loud music, being a first time customer, how would I know you had a remote to turn the music down and why would I arbitrarily walk into an establishment and grab a random remote and start turning down music or changing channels on a television. That's just a ridiculous assumption you made thinking I would do something like that. Regardless of what your other customers say this was MY experience with your establishment not theirs. My experience was not good hence the 2 stars. As for giving you and the staff the chance to prove how good you are, well this was the chance to impress me and you missed the mark. As for missing out on the best sandwiches in San Bernardino there are plenty of other small business sandwich places in town that are very good. I just choose not to patronize yours. read more

They have been located in this spot for years. Parking is on the far side of other business. Figured since they have been in this location for years and in business for years, their food must be pretty good. So I decided to order pastrami sandwich from this location. Driven by this local sandwich shop since it opened in 1999 but never took the time stop in and give it a try until today- and I am certainly glad I did! I ordered the Stuffer. It was DELICIOUS! And I was especially impressed by the quality of the bread they use! I highly recommend it! Service was fast and friendly as well! Although they were busy with customers in store, wrapping up a large party tray order, and with less than 30 min before closing, they were eager to accommodate when I asked to change my order. Prior to leaving 2 more gentlemen came in and ordered. I overheard them tell the guy behind the counter that is was their first time also! My first time going here seen this place on Instagram thought it would be good to go support a local San Bernardino business. Me and my family walked in and didn't get a hello or how are you doing or welcome in. right off the back. I thought OK if the service isn't good at least the sandwiches will hopefully be good but nope. It's average. Great customer service and very good subs. I had the Italian, my son had the French dip, friends had the cheese steak, pastrami, cold cut, and a build your own. The bread and the other ingredients were fresh. They were not stingy on the meat and everything came out perfectly. Very good value and we will be back in the near future. read more

Man I missed this place- I've been coming here since I went to Valley College in 2007. It's been quiet awhile since I've been back but I was craving it and drove from riverside to get it on my way home. I got my usual turkey sandwich. I was just checking Yelp for new places locally to eat and had a sudden craving for a sub. I purchased The Stuffer (6 in) and a side of potato salad (small) for $12.16. I had asked for a recommendation between the potato salad and macaroni salad they offered and the cashier recommended the potato salad. I was very grateful for the recommendation as the side was really tasty! Additionally I was shocked at the size and weight of the sub (please see reference pictures that I've included)! My Hero Subs is the Best!!! It may say #2 but they are def #1 in my book. I walk in and only see 3 people. But those 3 hard workers make the best darn subs within 10 miles of anywhere. No lie. I always order the Chicken bacon ranch and my lady always orders the Dirty girl sub. Perfect every single time lol. They give you as much ranch and franks red hot as you want for your sandwiches. And no I don't know them personally or work for them. I just sincerely love their food. On a side note they also promote this boy who does art and has autism. His name is GRANT WISEGARVER. Does amazing work and they put it up on their business walls and provide sales and promotions for him. They are angels and need more recognition. Please give them a try. I'll start this review off by saying, I'm a HUGE sandwich & sub guy. I'm very particular about my Italian sub & how it's made. These guys over at "my hero subs" know exactly what they're doing & their customer service is top notch, they made me feel right at home. I knew as soon as I walked in this place was going to be great, especially with the old school coke menu signage. Everything was fresh & bread was soft & delicious. I had an Italian, added olives, pickles & pepperoncinis. With a side of potato salad (I don't know if it's homemade potato salad but it was delicious, definitely had a homemade taste) & a very tasty iced tea. I don't know what type of iced tea they used but it was really good! It had almost a herbal floral flavor, which really surprised me. Also give their hot sauce a shot, pretty good stuff.
