Went here for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon and sat outside on their patio. Service was good and the patio furniture was comfortable. Food was so-so. We started with the Short Ribs Flat Bread which I enjoyed except a few of the edges were a bit burnt. The Spinach & Apples Salad was delicious, but the Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese was not good. It was pretty oily, which I take as a sign that it wasn't made fresh, rather it was reheated causing the milk and oil in the cheese to separate. To top it off, the "bacon" in it tasted like Bacon Bits you buy at the supermarket and sprinkle on a salad. My boyfriend had the Rack of Lamb which tasted okay but was overdone. At the end of the day, if I'm going to spend $25+ on a meal, I expect it to be excellent from start to finish. Station 4 is a mix of hits and misses and not worth the price. read more

Being season ticket holders to Arena Stage, we're always looking for dinner options beforehand. Station 4 offers an excellent 3-course menu for just $35! Having visited a few times now, the menu changes a bit seasonally. Last night's pear crostini and braised shortrib were both quite delicious. Topped off with the salted caramel and passionfruit sorbet completed the meal for me. My companions opted for the brownie (also served with the salted caramel sorbet.) Everyone left quite happy. Dinner: Party of 10! Came in to celebrate a birthday and we really had a good time! Originally our reservation was 10:30pm but I asked if it were possible to change it to 9...then called to change it to 9:30...then called again to change the amount of people to 9...then once there, I asked if we can change it back to 10...and moved our table. To say the least, we were a difficult crowd to handle lol but our waiter Adele was so friendly! We ordered pizzas, salmon, chicken, calamari, fish tacos and was able to substitute certain items for others. The food was pretty good! I've been there for brunch before and the service wasn't great but if you ever stop by, try to ask for Adele. He's very accommodating. We stayed until 12ish before we were told it was closed and they even helped us take nice group pictures, brighten the room with lights and moved tables/chairs out of the way for us to take the picture! Con: they accidentally charged my friend and I for a more expensive wine that wasn't even on the drink menu they gave us, so I'm not sure how that happened. Also, the manager (didn't get his name) was a little rude and would give us this long stare down when we asked for anything. Never lived across the street from a restaurant so I was excited when Station 4 opened recently. I have to say, I have nothing but good experiences so far. I dined there during the 1st week upon opening. We sat outdoors with our dog. Food was great. Charred octopus app and the duck entree was fanstatic. My night was ruined when this old lady sitting at the table next to me approached us and insistently yelled at us for not picking up after my dog. (my dog peed as we were walking to the restaurant on a patch of grass; she's female so she squats when she pees). Rude, ignorant lady. (I hope she reads this!) Sorry, she really made me mad. I was really excited for this brunch, as I love brunch, especially bottomless ones. I had a coupon for bottomless brunch for two, and I scheduled the reservation several weeks in advance, confirming the date and time twice before getting off the phone. So when I arrived and there was no reservation in my name, I was a bit perturbed. The hostess had no idea what to do, and a woman who I can only assume was the manager came up and I explained that I had, in fact, made a reservation weeks ago. She found us a table and everything was going fine (we'd been given our first round of drinks, were getting ready to order), when I saw our server and the manager standing about three feet away from our table very obviously talking about us and actually pointing at the table. When our server came back, I said 'is everything okay? I did make a reservation, so I'm sorry if it messes up your section.' She said nothing, disappeared, and a few minutes later were were greeted by a different server who informed us she'd be taking care of us for the rest of our meal. This was unsettling, as I hadn't done anything to remotely upset our first server, but clearly there was something wrong. Our first server continued to take care of the tables around us, but I guess we weren't good enough for her to wait on. So, that's minus two stars for losing my reservation and making me feel really uncomfortable and awkward for no reason. Now, to the food. The bottomless drinks were great. Could have used some more spice in the Bloody Mary, but it was fine. I had the eggs Chesapeake, and the beau had the Mardi Gras Omelette. My eggs were cooked well, but the crab meat was dry and kinda crusty, and the Hollandaise was REALLY BLAND. I can't even compare it with something. It was just... yellow and bland. Could have used some lemon juice, cayenne, SOMETHING. ANYTHING. I was bummed. I love eggs Chesapeake. The omelette was underwhelming as well, and all of the protein inside it was overcooked and tasted like it had been microwaved after being cooked maybe yesterday or last week. All in all, I was really disappointed. For a brunch town, Station 4 needs to know it has some serious competition. A friend invited me to Station 4 on a Sunday, but we missed lunch. The menu between brunch and dinner is extremely limited. we decided ti wait for dinner, but I still ended up ordering the Mediterranean pizza. I never would have thought to put feta, chickpeas, roasted zucchini, roasted squash, and artichokes on a pizza. To my surprise, the pizza was extremely flavorful. It was one of the better pizzas I've had in a while. Fortunately, it was a breezy and sunny Sunday, so the patio seating was a blessing. Our server, David, was very attention and polite. First time at Station 4. Wanted to go here for the longest. Good things about the place; 1. Atmosphere is awesome. Love the separation of the bar and dining. 2. Beer selection is pretty good. I love the fact that they have Batch 19 beer or tap...cool Not so good stuff about the place; 1. Parking is difficult. Unless you have ParkMobile. 2. Service is slow. I sat at the bar with only maybe 3 people at the bar and only one or two tables in the dining area. Expected to be more frequent and fast. 3. Bartenders aren't very talkative. This is a downer for me. I think bartenders should me more social. 4. Firmilarity of the food and menu was that great. We had the bottomless brunch special and it was good. The first mimosa was flat and seemed watered down but then the waiter came around with a freshly made batch and the afternoon began to look up. You take a sip and the waiter was right there to refill your glass. LOVED IT! I had the veggie omlet and it was really good. One friend had the corn beef hash and the other had the steak and eggs. She raved about the corn beef hash and he loved the size of the steak. It was not a small piece of steak and he was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere and ambiance was cool. I went Station 4 on a travelzoo deal, which may have been to blame for the bad service. I'll start with the bad news first. The service at Station 4 is extremely slow. We waited more than 10 minutes to see a server who took our order. While it was bottomless mimosas, we definitely saw the bottom of our glass several times. When our food did arrive it was not all together. I waited an additional 5 minutes for my food. I ordered the standard Eggs Benedict, which was nothing extraordinary. In fact, it was below ordinary standards. The english muffin that the poached eggs were served on were so stale that I couldn't get my knife to cut through them. The bread is the best part! It's how you soak up all of the yolk! The good part of this restaurant is the decor. The end. read more

This is such an awesome spot for the Waterfront. First of all, it was open during the blizzard, so kudos to them. Second, it is the ONLY nice restaurant near the Waterfront metro! This was the first place I ate at when I came to DC and have been a return customer ever since. This place excels in the bad for you, but oh so good for you food. I have tried the Kobe beef burger (melt in your mouth perfection) with the duck fat fries. Just like a good wine pairing, sometimes fat pairings are pure bliss as well. The pizzas are also worth a mention. The pork pizza is delectable and I could eat the entire thing, but it is always much more fun to share with friends. The decor is modern romantic with dim lighting and and a sexy fireplace in the back. Definitely a must go date/Valentine's Day restaurant! read more

I dined at Station 4 for a friend's Birthday brunch. We had a significantly large party (20-25). Despite having a reservation, we did have to wait for about 20 minutes. However, once we were seated and greeted, our dining experience went really well. Out server, Dino did exceptional. He was organized, accommodating, and sociable. This place always seems empty, but I gave it a try. The price was surprisingly cheap given the upscale interior decor. The food was tasty enough. I wouldn't call it mind blowing, but it was solid. The service was excellent as the staff outnumbered the clients at 3pm on Sunday. The location is excellent given its proximity to the Tidal Basin. The interior architect is a moron as one can't get the wine out of the column cases without moving the tables. read more

The location can be a bit awkward, especially for parking, but nevertheless, we made it. They currently (July 2015) have a special for brunch on the travelzoo.com website, and we jumped at the offer. Two brunch entrees and unlimited mimosas or bloody mary's for $35. -- Sweet. I love a good deal. I had the steak, medium well, with the duck fat fries and two eggs, over easy. The eggs were good...but honestly, if you can't make eggs, I shouldn't eat at your establishment...moving on. My steak was barely pink, just like I like it. It was juicy and flavorful. Just like I like it. Beef...yum. The duck fat fries, however, those were the hit. After watching Triple D...(Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives for you non-obsessed folk, unlike myself)...for a while and seeing "duck fat fries" look delicous at a number of featured restaraunts, I just HAD to try them here. They were delicious. They were hot, garlicky, and crunchy. Could have used a little more salt, but that's why salt shakers are on the table. Bestie had the French Toast and sausage. I'm not a sugar fan, so french toast + powdered sugar +syrup = death. But she said it was decent. I appreciated the fresh berries on the side. Nice attempt. As a last note, I did appreciate how our mimosa glasses were never empty. It made it slightly hard to clock just how much I was drinking, but...watevs. I don't see Station 4 as a place you NEED to go, but it was decent enough that I would go back. Station 4 offers one of the better deals when it comes to brunch in the city. For $30 you get an entree and bottomless mimosas or bloody marys. I do, however, find myself to be quite torn whenever I go. Altough the mimosas are bottomless, the champagne to orange juice ratio seems to be off. So at the end of my fifth mimosa, I feel mildly buzzed with a belly full of juice (and probably a blood sugar level that's off the charts). So if you're a new to this bottomless mimosa life, you'll be just fine. I usually get the steak and eggs with the duck fat fries, and they are everything! And becuase I'm an univited entree sharer, I've also tasted their french toast and pancakes- also delicious. I also appreciate how they have chicken and turkey breakfast meat options. A tip from a savory breakfast lover: don't order the corned beef hash, it's canned. Although the decor is quite chic, I don't really care for the table arrangements at Station 4. The only way to have decent seating is if you're in a large group. If you're a party of two, you will more than likely be placed along the leather bench within the elbow space of the next person. You have no choice but to overhear your neighbor's conversation, or knock their table on your way to the bathroom. Overall, Station 4 is a chic restaurant with good food and a cool ambience. They should, however, seriously consider revamping their mimosas. read more

Things I loved: the friendliness of our server and the door person, the ambiance (especially the long screen that looks like a fireplace) and the fact that they are on savored which saved us a lot of cash. Pretty good: the food, besides them not having 3 of the 4 drinks we ordered. not so good: Long waits, the coldness of the guy pouring water and switching plates. (Speaking of which- taking the small plates right as we got our cheese board, leaving us with no choice but to leave crumbs all over the table. ) The timing of bringing out our entrees with our apps, although our server nailed that and had them bring the entrees back until we were finished. It was my first time dining at Station 4 about a few weeks ago. We scheduled our monthly brunch here. Can't beat the location. Metro accessible is always a plus, especially with me. The decor was wonderful and very inviting. The food was delish. The drinks were on point and free flowing. My only gripe about this place is the service. The hostess was very nice and professional when we arrived. We had a 215pm reservation for their Sunday brunch. Since our party had to be decreased from 10 to 7 they had to rearrange our table. No biggie, except it took them a while to do it. We actually were seated at 235pm. Brunch officially ended at 3pm. I thought nothing of it because I figured that food could still be ordered up until 3pm. This was SO not the case. We were informed by the hostess that orders for brunch will not be taken after 245pm. After that the bar menu was in effect. This made no sense to me and was now concerned about why they confirmed us for a 215pm reservation. After much discussion management allowed the kitchen to fulfill our orders. I thought this was very nice. Our server was great when he was actually serving us. There were numerous times when there was something that we needed and we could not make it known. Times between checks were very long. This frustrated my party especially since we were on a time limit with brunch ending at 3pm. It seemed as though they did not have enough servers to work the dining area. I think I saw four bussers and only two servers. Weird. Management was roaming the floor to make sure dining patrons were doing ok. My overall experience was a good one. My party even stayed after brunch to mingle a bit more in the bar area. I'll most likely dine here again. With this being my first experience though I'm a little tainted. read more

We tried Station 4 last Sunday for brunch for my sister's birthday. It was an all around terrible experience. I can really only think of 1 pro - the restaurant is cute. It has the potential (ambiance wise) to be a nice restaurant. However, every other facet is horrible. Here's my quick list of why you probably don't want to dine there: - Dirty tables. - Very understaffed. We had a 2pm reservation, the restaurant was packed, and there only looked like 2 waiters (who were also bussing tables). - Service is extremely slow. It took my about 30-40 mins to get my water. - Food is mediocre. - Unlimited mimosa are pretty much just OJ. Additionally, we had items that we ordered that never came out. My sister also ordered a medium rare steak and it came out well done. We asked to speak to the waiter two times and he/she never came. This restaurant is a joke - definitely one of my worst dining experiences in DC! read more

Recently moved into the area and wanted to try this place out. Overall, I was not happy with either the food or the service. We sat in the long wooden table towards the front, and immediately we noticed that the tabletop was sticky. Somebody in my party had made a comment and the hostess mentioned that it was the "natural wood", and she did not even offer to move us elsewhere. The restaurant was pretty much empty, so there were definitely other table options. The way she responded was as if saying "get over it". Once we were sat down, it took at least 5 minutes for a waiter to come over to us. He was not polite and seemed irritated that we had come 10 minutes before Brunch had ended. We didn't even want brunch, but he assumed that we did I guess? It was close to 95 degrees outside and it was clear that we were hot and thirsty. We had to ask for water, and when it came, he was short two cups. Once we all downed our first glass to quench our thirst, it was like he needed a clue to go get us another bottle or two. We ordered 4 pizzas, which were "decent" at best, but they came to our table in 45 minutes. I mean, c'mon, the place wasn't busy at all. While waiting for the food, the manager gave us some salads and apologized for the food coming out so slowly. Avoid the pepperoni pizza. It was swimming in grease and you couldn't even pick it up. We all ate our pizzas with our forks because the toppings would slide right off the soggy crust. The flavor was good, but the execution was sub-par. The mixed reviews of this place show that they are VERY inconsistent with their food and service. Next time, I think I'll opt for Z-burger that is next door instead. read more

Decided to give Station 4 another shot, this time for dinner... First of all, the hostess needs to find a new job, preferably in the back of the restaurant where she cannot have any contact with the paying public. When I gave her the reservation name, she mumbled something and headed towards the dining room, so we followed her. Turns out she was just going to CHAT with the kitchen! So we made our way back to the front. We really should have walked out at that point, but decided to let this play out. We then get endless apologies from another staffer for our table not being ready. Clearly they were doing a pre-theatre service and did not account for it in the reservation schedule. So we went to the bar area to get a drink while we waited. When we finally got our table, things improved somewhat. The waiter was attentive and timely. Other than my entree arriving when I was still "working" on my salad, it was ok. BTW, the salmon watercress salad was pretty decent. So I ordered what I thought was a safe bet, based on reviews: pizza. Bad idea. It was greasy as could be and soggy. The pepperoni was spicy as described, but the pie was getting wetter as it sat there. I could not finish half of it. So if you've read up to this point, remember that that pizza is not worth ordering (either), unless you like the soggy, dough-ey kind. When I got home, my stomach started to hurt. Nothing like having to dig around for Tums after a $30-40 meal! Station 4 has a long way to go. I could imagine going back for a beer. I mean, you can really mess that up, can you? read more

We had dinner at Station4 tonight before seeing a show at Arena Stage. I love the fact that they are on Open Table. It made making a reservation very easy. We had a drink in the bar before dinner; a very tasty blueberry mojito that was served in minutes. The server at the bar was attentive and quick. Our server for dinner was great. She was knowledgeable about the menu and portion sizes. We ordered some of the toast appetizers; fig and avocado. They were presented nicely and were very good. I ordered the peach and mushroom pizza. I would have liked more toppings and less crust, but that was my only disappointment. Can't beat the Bottomless mimosa brunch! Upon arrival, we were immediately seated by the hostess and our server Allina appeared shortly thereafter. Service was on point- our server was courteous, energetic and attentive. Great customer service all the way around. The food was good (steak, eggs and fries). My only suggestion would be to serve a larger portion of fries - the fries were delicious, nice and a good texture, but I felt a bit robbed by the small portion they served. Ohhhhhh, moist importantly, the mimosas were indeed bottomless - thanks Allina! Allina kept topping off our glasses. I'll definitely recommend the brunch at Station 4. A few things to remember: 1) make a reservation in advance 2) if driving, give yourself enough time to find parking as this is a very busy area. read more
