I have ordered from this place in the past and can't recall ever being so disappointed ! I can't Believe the employee had the balls to send me such a horrid salad !!!! I would of fired his or her ass never ever getting my business again

Good 24-hr deli in Bushwich that has grilled salmon AND waffle fries. I mean, does it get any better than that at 4:30am after the club?! I ordered a grilled salmon on a roll with spinach, tomato, onions and light mayo. Definitely not light on the mayo, and the salmon pieces were small and a tad overcooked. The quality has gone downhill in recent years (w/i 5 yrs) which is why I gave it 3 stars, but it's def clutch in the late night hours. This place will always have a place in my heart.

Ordered takeaway and service was fast! People behind the counter were super friendly and helpful! Fast food, but so much better than crappy McD LoL

I might've given this place one star but I appreciated all the little nuggets of humor spread throughout the store. Somebody in management has a sense of humor and I can appreciate that. I also appreciate their small business entrepreneurialism and their push for convenient delivery at all hours of (very emphasized) "fresh" food. I guess you shouldn't really expect much from a corner bodega in Bushwick open at 2 AM but we had high hopes because it look like they put just a little bit more effort in than the other five we passed on the way here on Saturday night. Brighter, cleaner, nice menu, with seemingly nice selection, very popular, diverse Patronage. They also have a nice selection of smoothies and shakes I was thinking I would probably try in the morning. But no way - I'm not interested now. After we made our order, as we sat on the bench with a whole bunch of other folks the flies kept attacking her legs. That should've been a sign to us. We ordered a turkey sub and a grilled chicken wrap for take out. Got home and YUCK! So flavorless. So disappointed. Not fresh. Bread definitely not fresh. No different than any other bodega food except probably less flavored. Had high hopes. Shattered...

My order- cheese fries, drinks and candy

I waited for about 45 minutes, while waiting I picked up my chips and a white peach ginger ale. I also talked to the girl in front and she explained that you can get your sandwhich on a hero or roll. I ordered a chopped honey turkey with onions, pickles, lettuce and mayo. The guy who made my sandwich was soo friendly and patient. I just put my trust in him to hook it up lol. He also asked if I wanted to add the chips and I did. Overall my sandwhich was better the next day after it firmed up. The flavor was good but the texture was soft, mushy and just not what I want in a turkey sandwhich. It ran me about 12.00 and it was worth the experience.

If that's not the most Brooklyn thing ever, I don't know what is. Same sandwiches, different blessing. Everybody says order the pastrami, so I listened like a grown man should. Pastrami on rye with spicy mustard absolutely slapped. Smoky, juicy, perfectly stacked, and messy enough to ruin your shirt with honor. Then came the beef brisket on rye with a cup of au jus for dipping... and brother, that dip should be studied by scientists. Pure perfection. Washed everything down with a Dr. Brown's root beer like it was 1957. No fake trendy nonsense. No deconstructed sandwiches. Just old-school deli greatness that punches you directly in the soul. Great food doesn't care where you come from -- it just brings everybody to the same table. That's New York. That's Brooklyn.

I went with two friends so were able to try three different sandwiches and to be honest, they were all just alright. The food: Roast Pork Special- Fried Eggplant, Provolone, Broccoli Rob- The texture of the pork came off a bit dry, the eggplant was good but kinda gets lost in the sandwich so if I literally had it on it's own I would have appreciated it more but who eats fried eggplant by itself? The rob was nice it added a nice crunch but didn't offer that much flavor. Giuseppe Special- Eggplant parm, meatballs, melted mozzarella. I couldn't get over how soggy the bread was. It was like wet paper towel to me. Soggy bread and everything kinda tasting the same made it underwhelming. Nicky Special- It just tasted like salad in between bread. There was so much veg, that was the main thing I remember in that sandwich.

A Longtime Favorite That Never Fails to Stand by Its Quality!…read moreI have been a loyal customer of The Original John's Deli for many years, and it remains my absolute go-to place whenever I am craving a genuinely satisfying, high-quality sandwich. In a city filled with endless options, finding a business that operates with true integrity, courtesy, and respect for its longtime customers is rare--and the owners, Harry and Ari, exemplify what outstanding customer service should look like. Recently, after a rare off-day on an order, I communicated with the team, and their swift, dignified, and honorable response proved why this local institution has earned its stellar reputation over the years. They truly care about their craft and value their patrons. The sandwich I enjoyed today "Daniel LaRuso" was a definite 10/10--fresh, substantial, delivered pleasantly warm, and prepared to perfection. The combination of turkey breast, creamy avocado, savory feta cheese, rich eggs, and a generous portion of flavorful olives came together beautifully, with every single requested seasoning and condiment executed flawlessly. And as always, their coleslaw is an true masterpiece: exceptionally fresh and creamy, perfectly balancing acidity with sweetness, which results in an amazingly delicious taste. The cabbage has a wonderfully delicate, tender bite rather than a heavy or harsh crunch, easily making TOJD's coleslaw the best in the neighborhood. To top it off, the delivery was incredibly fast and courteous, accompanied by a refreshing beverage as a very magnanimous gesture from Harry and Ari. If you appreciate a generous, delicious sandwich and want to support a local business run by decent, honorable owners who stand behind their food, this legendary deli is as good as it gets.
