This is my sister's experience here, which I was also present for. I was also disappointed in her piercer who didn't even offer me a place to sit during the piercing: Before getting four ear piercings at this place, I had five piercings on my body that I did at three different piercing places. My experience at this place was by far the worst ever in terms of price and quality. The employees were completely unprofessional and my piercer was inexperienced and incompetent. The employees were sitting around and chatting while customers were waiting, and my piercer didn't even have anything set up when she knew I was coming in at a specific time to do specific piercings. They made me pay and tip before I had the service. This made things difficult because I had also wanted to buy two septum rings, but they were so expensive that I told them I only wanted the simpler one I had asked them to put in. They charged me for the more expensive one and then when I noticed that my piercer had brought that one to put in I told her I had wanted the other one and they wouldn't refund me but gave me store credit instead. They also did not have fixed prices and seemed to be charging based on bias; I wanted to buy a bottle of cleaning mist to clean my piercings and the lady asked another lady how much she wanted to charge me for it and it was much more expensive than I'd paid for a bottle of the same size before. The piercing experience was horrible. I explained what I wanted to my piercer and showed her photos. I wanted two hoops on one ear that were higher up on my lobe and asymmetrical to the triple piercing I wanted on the other ear. She drew the dots several times and I told her that I wanted them higher up and closer together. She said okay and drew/erased them a few more times on. I finally believed that she had moved them up and said okay because I thought she understood my request. She pierced them exactly as a normal triple piercing instead of how I had wanted them and then refused to take one out and re-pierce it. I had to take it out myself when I got home. She also was unable to close either of the hoops she put in but messed with them for about 10 minutes while pulling them and pulling my hair. It was very painful and she kept telling me not to move as if it was my fault she couldn't do a simple piercing. Because she wasn't able to close the hoops, they kept getting caught in my hair and twisting to come out of the holes. I basically had to re-pierce one of the hoops that came out because it wasn't closed when I got home. I had to try to close it more myself, but I still can't get it to close all the way without the tools she has. She also messed with putting the backs on the earrings on the other side which was painful. I think even Claire's in the mall could do a better job with ear piercings than she did. The piercings and jewelry were over-priced for a low quality place but I had trusted them and wanted the simple piercings, so I didn't have a problem with it before she did the piercings. I also generously tipped her before the piercings, which I regret. I paid $195 for four ear piercings, a septum ring, and a bottle of cleaner. I would not recommend this place for piercings to anyone. The overall experience was awful. read more

My sister wanted to get her ears pierced, so I agreed to go with her and get a tattoo. I set up an appointment with a random artist and they gave my idea to Joel. He asked a few questions about my design and seemed confident so I prepaid (required) and tipped him generously before he even started the tattoo. The tattoo he gave me is the worst I've ever received. The line work is rough, the shading is horrible, and he was so heavy handed that my tattoo is already scarring 3 days later. I reached out to Joel via Instagram and he admitted he did a rough job on the tattoo and he apologized for the work he did. I then attempted to ask for reparations given the fact that I'm going to have to pay for another tattoo entirely to get this one covered and he ignored it. I would shy away from going to him altogether, and I've had many of my other artists say they're surprised he's even got a place in a shop doing work like this. If he had made an attempt to make things right I wouldn't have written this, but he was unwilling and I don't want anybody else to go through the same trouble. read more

I've had my nose cartilage pierced here and i payed $40 just to have the same exact work done somewhere else for $15-20. I decided to try a tattoo from here (my second ever) and it's one of my biggest regrets. my first tattoo that has much more detail and shading and ink, though slightly smaller than the one i got at stay true, was a mere $75. i was charged at stay true $150 for a constellation tattoo. my lines came out uneven in thickness AND crooked between the dots. some of the lines were as thick as the dots and some don't connect all the way to the dots. i had the name of the constellation written underneath as well and the writing was perfect, but it was the smallest part of the tattoo. not only this, but the person who did this tattoo didn't create their own sketch or anything; they printed it out and the dots were still in the incorrect placements as well. i may be sounding very picky, but being charged that much for something completely permanent for it to be botched like that was embarrassing. even whenever i show people and they point out the mistakes and i tell them that it was $80 since i'm humiliated that i was charged so much for that, they STILL say i was scammed. i still haven't found anywhere or anyone that i trust to fix this problem because of how this has negatively affected me. read more

I am a 63 year old breast cancer survivor. Rather than endure another surgery for implants, I opted for a mastectomy scar cover tattoo. Not my first tattoo, but for sure the most personal. It took about 5 sessions with Iris to get it finished (mostly because I squirm and cuss after about an hour) but what a treasure! One side is a magnolia and the other a star gazer lily. They are just beautiful! What was a low time in my life has now been transformed into something to be proud of! I went here for a conch piercing and had a great experience. The woman working the front desk was very friendly and polite. I got my piercing done by Brandon who did a wonderful job. He was friendly, had no problem slightly adjusting the position of the piercing when I asked, and went over aftercare. I had a wonderful experience with this place, and would gladly go back for more piercings in the future. Update: since my past review, I have gotten 3 more piercings. 2 were done by Vanessa. This place sucks so bad, I bet they pay to have this third review filtered-out too! Look into their corners, check their sanitation practices. Are there still unframed posters on walls? Surfaces impossible to sanitize? Are there doors and hepa filters in use in the piercing room? Do they have a clean room for sterilizing equipment or do they still use the ultrasonic and autoclave in the employee restroom? I have had several piercings done here in the past. Then I read the Piercing Bible and gave a copy to their piercer. I also read the APP standards. You should have seen my face when I learned how unprofessional this place is! Yes, they have personality here, I might return IF they develop the professionalism and sanitation procedures to warrant it. All I know is the piercer is now working elsewhere and I get my work done elsewhere. Got a flash tattoo done by Dave, he was a great guy and the tattoo itself is beautiful however he was terribly heavy handed and now the beautiful tattoo has scars. Great otherwise, but don't be afraid to tell them to not dig in so deep. I would have rather had him have to go over lines than do a once over with a heavy hand. read more

Stay True is my absolute favorite place to get pierced. I got my nose pierced about 3 years ago here by some guy that i dont remember the name of. I got my tongue pierced by vanessa and she was so quick that i thought the needle got stuck halfway in my tongue . Ive gotten my septum and my tragus pierced at ghostriders and although they did a good job, the piercer didnt make me feel as comfortable as vanessa did. i really recommend stay true. read more

Shout out to Pink!! She was awesome. Went in for an industrial. I had had one on the other ear and intended for it to be in the same one, she informed me that she couldn't do it because I had another piercing that would've interfered and even though I had my previous industrial done there, that was not correct. She took an old piercing out for me because the skin was starting to die around it. And she said she'd even change out my daith piercing to the correct ring that should be in there! I discovered this shop back in 2014 just from passing by it. So randomly I had decided one day that I wanted my nose pierced. So I had a friend take me and Vanessa pierced me! She was awesome! As soon as I met her, we clicked! She's so funny and down to Earth! She made me feel very comfortable. A few months later after getting my nose pierced, I went to a different shop to get my philtrum pierced because I called Stay True and Vanessa wasn't in and I didn't want to wait. I wish I would've just waited for her to be back because it was a disaster. Shortly after that I went to Stay True to get my nipples pierced by Vanessa! I had the best experience with her, for the 2nd time. Fast foward to a few months after getting my nipples done, I went to a different shop to get my septum pierced because Stay True was closed and I didn't have issues with this shop, everything went well, but I didn't have a great experience with this shop/piercer like I did with Vanessa. I will continue to go to Vanessa for all my piercings! I recently got a helix piercing done by her and will go back to her soon to get my septum redone! She is a phenomenal piercer! I came in today for a triple helix piercing. My friend and I were greeted by the receptionist when we came in, and she was very kind and welcoming. Vanessa was my piercer, and let me tell you, she absolutely deserves the praise she has received in previous reviews. After all the positive reviews I read about her, I had high expectations, and she did not disappoint. She was really laid back, but still professional, and made sure I was 100% comfortable with the procedure before she started. She did a great job of answering all of my questions, and gave me her card in case I had anymore later on. The process was surprisingly quick, and very affordable-- only $20 per hole. Went in for a rook piercing and Vanessa was as amazing as everyone says! She also pierced my nose a year later :) and today I went to get a tattoo fixed. I got it done at a shop in Richmond, TX and it was HORRIBLE. It was my grandmother's handwriting so it was important that it looked identical but the artist did a horrible job. After seeing all of the great reviews on Yelp about this tattoo shop, I was very eager to go in and get my first tattoo. I went in, sat down for a minute and went through some of the folders and then went through with the down payment and a drawing. And that's it. They never got back to me. Frustrated because, after a week and a half, I went in and talked to the Manager who apologized and said that she (The Artist) had been working on it all the time and would be getting it to me this night. I went home thinking that she had just been putting a lot effort into the piece. What she sent me was what I assume was what she drew in about an hour, and something that was not worth 50 dollars or the two weeks time that I wasted. read more

Went to two different shops before coming here. First one the piercer wasn't there, second one, the staff had better things to do then help. Thank god, because it worked out better for me ending up at Stay True. I was helped immediately by the woman behind the counter. I had a specific piercing in mind, so I had pictures. Imagine my surprise when I was told it was about half the price of what I was told at the first shop. Yep, there's a difference between a helix piercing and plain ole cartilage. My piercer was Cat - she is the most awesome of awesomers that has ever awesomed. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and super quick. I had a great experience at Stay True. I went in as a walk-in to get my one tattoo spruced up and have color added. The girls at the front desk were sweet and made me feel comfortable and I asked them for advice on getting a nose piercing. Of course they thought I should go for it! I went in for my tattoo, and Israel put up with all my questions, sharpened all the lines of my tattoo, then did free-hand watercolor around it. He is very skilled at watercolor and his free-hand is flawless. Even though I was randomly walking in, and disheveled from a long day of work, and clearly not in with the tattoo scene, Israel was so calm and kind and made me feel like I belonged there. After my tattoo, I further discussed getting a nose piercing with Vanessa and she really made me feel at ease about it, and I decided to go for it. Plus, $30 is a great price for a nose piercing! She was very patient and helped me decide the placement, and when she put the needle through I barely felt it, and honestly I don't even remember her putting the jewelry in because she was that quick.
