We've had our share of bad experiences at this chain, but today was a pleasant exception. Restaurant was clean, we were seated promptly and service was fast and food was tasty. Our server Herbert seemed to be responsible for the entire dining room but he was fast, friendly and efficient and attentive with refills. I've eaten at this location a few times, and I've always had a positive experience. The service is prompt and courteous, the orders are correct, and the food is good. There are a ton of ways to mess up a fast food meal, but so far Steak N Shake hasn't done it to me. Keep up the good work. read more

Went there the other day because I love Steak and Shake. Had to drive away and go to Dairy Queen because what seemed like all the staff were crowded around each other like they were going to fight. I wish I could give this location negative stars. I decided to give it one last opportunity to redeem the negative past experiences. This idea was a terrible mistake. I went through the drive through around midnight and there were a few dine ins and a couple cars in the drive through. It took around 25 minutes to get 3 burgers and 3 fries, one order of which was not given to us so I went inside to explain the situation. I counted 7 people complaining about their order or the service, one of which had waited over an hour in hopes of receiving some sort of food, another was on minute 15 awaiting a drink refill. After the guy running the drive through section insinuated I was lying and attempting to steal a $2 order of fries, I decided it was better to cut my losses and exit this pitiful excuse of a dining establishment fryless than continue on. I love this steak and shake I moved to this area in July and this is my go to for a stop on the way to work if I'm real hungry and want a good burger and milk shake. The servers on 3rd are very nice and outgoing more then most. read more

Honestly disappointed. My girlfriend and I decided to go get food and we wanted Steak 'n Shake so we chose this location. Upon arriving we sat at the ordering speaker for 15 minutes before driving around again and waiting behind a car to finally get an answer 5 minutes later. We ordered a #28 and a #29, which is a 3-piece chicken tender meal and a Steakburger meal. I asked for Onion rings instead of fries on my #29 and a large drink. My girlfriend asked for a large fry and a medium drink. Upon waiting what seemed forever they told us to pull around only to tell us our total when we were already past the order screen. Once we got to the window there were several people in the window, at least 5. So why it took 15 minutes to ask what we were getting baffled me. Upon waiting for anyone to even open the window they tried making us pay twice, we didn't get our drinks or the onion rings. Upon asking why they hadn't put onion rings down they said they didn't need to. Then went back to conversing and laughing until I stayed parked and told Them we didn't get our drinks with the MEALS that we ordered. The girl came to the window 3 times asking what we wanted to drink and I told her the same thing 3 times. This is the worst experience I have ever had at steak 'n shake and if I didn't know better I'd say they put all their new staff on tonight's shift and they were all goofing off, all with one ear bud under their headset. This Steak 'n Shake is terrible I ordered online and it said it'd be ready at 10:20 I did not get my food until 11:00. People who ordered at the counter got there food before I did. Once I finally got my food my bread for my melt was soggy and not toasted. My milkshakes weren't right nor did they have the whip cream on top, and the fries were so cold. I have to say this place has made recent improvements, based on my last several visits in the last few months. In the end of 2014, beginning of 2015 I lived near this location, and whenever I got food here it was horrible. Burgers not done right, old fries, bad service. Since I've been to this place about once or twice a week for the last 8 months or so, I've not had one single average or below average meal. In fact, tonight I came through the drive through at 2:30 AM and the fries were right out of the fryer, burger was perfect, it hit the spot. The weird thing is, I'm getting all the lousy Steak N Shake food from the Grove City location, so I stopped going there. We walked in and both said something smelled bad. The smells got worse quickly. It smelled like a dirty vacuum cleaner, old food, and vomit. Came here with friends for a simple dinner. Well, simple went out the door pretty quickly. We walked in to a not-very-busy dining room that had about 5 tables empty that were completely covered in old plates and cups. After 3 different people confusedly asked how many we had, they finally cleared a table and sat us. The table and booth were still VERY wet, but at this point we couldn:t complain... At least it was clean. There was even more confusion from the waitress during the ordering process. It then took them WAY too long to bring our meals. Two of my friends had to send their meals back not once but TWICE because they kept messing up their sandwich toppings. Then, in the midst of that, I found a hair in my Frisco melt. Appetite destroyed! On top of all this, when the waitress came to give us our food, she went to the side of the table near another table instead of the open end near no one. When she did this, she came dangerously close to hitting the other guest in the head with the tray about 3 times. Overall it was awful! Wait time was not insanely long but we were rushed out of the restaurant when a rush hit while we were waiting; bags were shoved at us with a hurried, "here you go, carryout" and when we got home, we realized we hadn't received part of our order. Carry out order: waitress took our order at the front counter and we waited not so long for our food to be made. I asked for jalapeños on the side of my burger but my boyfriend ended up getting them on his burger. I didn't want to take them out of his burger because it had nacho cheese on it and would've made my burger taste odd. A few hours later my boyfriend wakes up with serious heartburn, and I mean serious! He was really hot and stomach was horrifically bloated. The boy taking my order was confused during my order. I ordered a milk shake staight off of menu and he still asked for clarification. While at the window the same said boy asked if I wanted fries with my order of milk shakes, I said no only to have him come back and ask again. Again, I said no and yet the fries ended up in my bag of napkins and spoons. The shake flavors were mixed up such as; the banana/stawberry was only banana and the cake batter was a stawberry/cakebatter! The supposed icecream for the shakes was definitely not icecream. Customer service is a zero. My father had to wait an hour for a wrong order. The manager then gave him a coupon for a free shake on his next visit because the server was being rude. When he returned for his free shake, the new manger refused to honor the coupon. That makes two times my father has gotten terrible service here. I love stake of Stake'n Shake but I think you guys should train your worker about attitude with customer. We have bad experience with the one on Stringtown rd , the worker don't want to serve me and my friend, they just ignore us I think because we are Asian. Visited this location twice in one week. Bad idea. We waited 30 minutes for order and had ordered chili to be served before regular food- watched as chili sat in window for 20 mins. Ice cold, of course! Waitress was slow and didn't listen to actual order as mine was wrong... The second visit was to borrow the restrooms, again; bad idea! Worst Bacon, egg and was supposed to have cheese but!?bagel I've ever received from a fast food restaurant. Bacon was minimal &hard, the egg was thin more fried then scrambled. Manager was also very rude when I called today. She just sat there said nothing when I called to explain how bad my sandwich was. Took a deep breath and just said what's your name? Told her I wasn't calling to get a "free sandwich" but maybe let the cook know because unfortunately this isn't my first bad experience here. ( my sons food was in the bag,) many occasions my son gets the chicken tenders meal ask for extra ranch get one, I've gotten home had none at all before. Diet sodas for my diabetic husband have turned out to be regular soda. So ive learned to check those things but I can't really open up and check my sandwich. I agree with others, if I could give negative stars I would for this location. I have had my absolute worst drive-thru experiences at this place. Have you ever listened to that routine where the guys goes through the drive through and asks for a "LARGE ORANGE DRINK!"? Well, several of my drive-thru experience had reminded me of this. It would take too long to type all the details of one particular experience, but one time I ended up with their largest carry out bag full of food, and none of it was mine. I seriously thought I was being punked or something. Dine-in or drive-thru, they must hire absolute idiots. It isn't only this location, the one on Stringtown is on par. Not quite as bad, but I wouldn't give them more than one star either. I'll give them credit, when you do get your food hot and how you asked for it, it is really good. I typically get a double with bacon and pepper jack and mayo or the cajun burger. When it's right, it is tasty. The only reason I go back is because I have a better chance of getting a good burger than at the Wendy's a few restaurants down. read more

My family went here this afternoon for a quick bite before a movie. We arrived there at 1:30 and we waited to be seated at least 7 minutes. The waitress came and took our drink order and after that thing seem to go further down hill. My son ordered a Mocha Shake. I don't think it was too hard to prepare such an item however this place apparently did. We were on our second refills of soda before he even got his shake. I was praying to Jesus I wouldn't have to act indignant in this place. The waitress, who reminded me of Tara Reid finally brought his shake. She did take our food order in between that. I ordered a side of cottage cheese and a bowl of vegetable soup along with my burger and fries. Now I'm not a waitress, nor have I ever been trained to be one, but I may have brought out my cottage cheese and soup while everything else was cooking or being prepared. She did not. All of the food was brought at one time. It was hot and tasted decent however my soup had way too much garlic and the vegetables were no where near being cooked properly. I had contemplated on not tipping but we did get our food and it was hot and we did get refills and I could see she was trying. I was not impressed with this experience. I guess I was expecting quicker service with better quality food. I just didn't get it. I did leave a tip. I won't be visiting this Steak N Shake again if I can help it. read more

seriously, do not go to this location. we live 5 minutes away and generally only go here 2-3 times a year because they mess something up EVERY SINGLE time! just recently tried the online ordering on fathers day. came at the time the online system said to come and then proceeded to wait at the counter for 20 minutes for them to make the meal that was supposed to be ready for pick up. While i was waiting, the dine in customers were forming a line making comments about "even having to wait to check out." and saying how they would never come back. They then had to ask the manager to come ring them up. He didn't bother to ask about their experience as he could probably guess. One order was completely wrong (ordered guacamole chicken sandwich and received a double steakburger). Another single steakburger came with wrong toppings but was eaten. Child's corn dog bites were overcooked and hard as rocks - removed weiners to eat. Sent back wrong order - waited 15 mins and received a steakburger melt, not the chicken. Spoke to Line Manager about issues - received a wet, cold guacamole chicken sandwich that wasn't thawed completely. Never received refills on drinks during the 1+hour at the store. General Manager comp'd meal. I requested coupons for next visit - received "Free double steakburgers with fries and soft drink" coupons WHEN YOU BUY $25 IN GIFT CARDS. read more
