What can I say? This place has made changes but it is more efficient. The establishment was very clean. This really impressed me and my hubby. All tables and floors were immaculate. The condiment area was also very clean. Since all Steak & Shake have done away with servers it actually provides better efficiency. There are four self order kiosks which makes ordering a breeze. You can customize any order to make sure you get the sandwich you want your way. No needing to wait for someone to come and take your order. You can get it to go quickly. Each kiosk order goes directly to the kitchen. They do call your name to pick up your to go order and the milkshakes. When you dine in they actually bring your order on a tray to your table. On your receipt at the very top is a QR scan code for you to get your fountain drink. You scan that under the scan reader in order to work the refreshment bar work. You can get as many refills as you like when you dine inside. We ordered our steak burgers. The double steak burger meal and their single steak burger meal. My hubby ordered the most beautifully made chocolate milkshake. We really enjoyed our good. This place had really improved . I'm hoping this review will bring more customers here. Clean, helpful and delish! Ok. My first time at a Steak 'n Shake. We had a very hard working guy named "Charlie" helping us. He was very helpful, polite and professional. First time to this location. It was busy but clean and the staff had a good attitude. (8pm Sat). Most Steak 'n Shake locations have a kiosk you must order from for dining room and carry out. No counter person takes your order. I think this is a great idea. It shows the customer the cost of the secondary items they're choosing such as soft drinks, fries, cheese, and sauces. Another big deal is while choosing your food the calories are also shown. That's much different than being asked if you'd like to upgrade that or would you like to super size that, without having any idea how many calories you're adding to your meal. I literally just left this place ordered in drive-thru and my order total was $9.57 so when I got to the window to pay I handed the young lady of $50 bill and I was trying to hand her the 57 cents but she refuse to take it then she kept saying you handed me a $50 bill and I'm like yeah and at this point I'm confused and so the manager comes to the window and says oh we don't have change for $50 .....it is actually 11:48 during lunch rush so how do you not have change for a $50 bill you are a restaurant very unhappy very unsatisfied and I just left because that's crazy read more

I stopped here while visiting in Florida. I was hungry and looking for a good cheeseburger and a great shake. The cheeseburger was well cooked and the vegetables were definitely a nice complementing size. The burger was mouthwatering and tasted just as good. The butterfinger shake was really thick. I could not finish it all, but it tasted very good. So if you're craving a burger and a shake, I highly recommend Steam 'n Shake! read more

They're using one of the "only take orders at a kiosk " set ups. I ordered a Butter Double Steak Burger. I don't even know if they could legally use the word "Steak" because the quality of the burger was so poor. Anyway, the burger was supposed to have melted butter on it. Instead, they gave me a 1/2 stick of cold butter on top of the burger. When you get there you notice that the place is nice and clean and BRIGHT! You order at the kiosks and then sit down. When your order is done, they come out and call your name and then you pick it up. Staff are friendly and efficient and fast. The food we got was absolutely delicious! I had the Triple patty steak burger with onion rings and my wife had a double cheeseburger with fries and a shake. She like the shake better than Culver's Mixers. The burgers were done to perfection and the fries and onion rings were NOT greasy! Best of all, for people on a fixed budget, the price was extremely reasonable. It was less costly here than anywhere we have eaten in Port Charlotte, hands down. You really need to check out this classic place. It is well worth your time. read more

this location serves it's food fresh, the fries are crispy and the servers are relativemoly nice. They haven't messed up any of my orders; and they always serve the right iced tea. We went slumming it for brunch today. We went over to a nearby Bob Evans and it was cram-packed with many people waiting outside to get in at 10 am. What's up with that? Well, tried this second store in Ft Myers. This store is closed to all walk-in traffic, unlike all other fast food chains still in business. Sadly, I have concluded that the empliyees of these Ft Myers stores, and perhaps the managers, need to train at Indianapolis Steak n Shakes to learn how it us done, as the burgers are NOT the same as Steak n Shake elsewhere (will try tge ones in No Ft Myers and Naples to see if they are correct and up yo par). There is no shortage of catsup (they overwhelm the burgers with what should be a condiment) and the fries are ok, but the cooking oil is on the edge of rancid but passable for now. I'm not usually one to write restaurant reviews, but my experience at this restaurant on 12/27/2023 really rubbed me the wrong way so here we are. I placed an online order for pickup around lunch time for myself and my coworker. I mistakenly placed it to this location, I usually go to the one on fowler and have never had any issues there. That being said the mistake was mine so I drove to the colonial center store, took me about 25 minutes to get over there. I found that there were no pickup orders ready, but one of the cooks asked if i was picking up an order and I said yes, he asked if it was and order for (my name) I said yes thinking all would be well and that they had my order working. While I was still waiting I could hear a lot of yelling in the back of house which I thought was odd for how slow and quiet the restaurant was. after a few more minutes I was handed a large, sealed, plastic bag with the paper bag and drink holder in it. I could tell the bag was light but I thought I was just missing a drink so I asked if I could have the coke and be on with my day. After I got the coke I thought I should check the rest of the order because I did not want to have to drive back out in case I was missing anything else. I opened the sealed bag to find that the ticket (which was not visible from outside of the bag) had somebody else's name on it. I got the attention of one of the staff and apologized as I had opened the order and it was not my food. they got the attention of the manager and he came over to immediately start yelling at me. I, taken aback, asked him to stop yelling at me and hear me out so I could explain the situation. He must have thought I was a doordash driver opening up other people's orders, but I was in fact a customer trying to make sure my own order was correct. After a little more back and forth with the manager, he snatched the bag back and told me to just cancel the order. I tried to get his attention but he continued to walk away and yell back at me to just cancel the order. If I could have I would have, but there was no option to do so on my end as I had used the website to place the order and pay. Now I am out the $30 for the order and their customer service center has yet to reach back out to me on the matter. I have never been treated so poorly at any kind of establishment for any reason. I will steer clear of this place in the future, if you are reading this I would recommend you do as well. Happy new year. read more
