I have always liked Steak n' Shake and have eaten in their restaurants in several different states and it was always consistent and good. Clean, well managed, friendly and a good value. The company has done away with the waitstaff and though I miss the interaction with a server I appreciate saving money left for a tip. The Georgetown location is a very good representation of the current state of Steak 'n Shake. It's still consistent in cleanliness and a good value. That's enough for me. read more

rude general manager- communication between employees and staff is not good. I was told one thing by an employee and female manager about getting a refund for food I never received- went back the next day and was rudely told I was given incorrect info and when Inasked who to contact he walked away and had another employee bring me the information. Looked around the area to try and find a Steak n Shake - sure enough, found one. We live out west and there are none in our area, but we love their food. First thing we noticed - no more table service. Wow - order from a kiosk and pick up at the counter. We missed the old table service - not sure how this is going to go. Chili Mac - great as usual ! Burger - great as usual ! It wasn't busy, at all, but it was early, only 5:00pm. We were concerned - some locations have closed - good news, this one seems to be fine. I have found not all Steak 'n Shakes are created equal for some reason. I went to one in Indiana once that was awful. The one in GTown is great. Probably the best fast food burger in the area. My service for steak n shake was really fast and the two girls who handed me my food were really nice and started a conversation with me! However, my grilled cheese was only decent and at best but the container was too small so they had to squish it in, but my fries were really yummy! My shake was not filled all the way and they even forgot my cherry however! I was really disappointed with the shake but whenever I told the two girls about it, and they fixed it in a flash! Came through the drive-through for a late night snack of a shake. The employees were super nice. Lots of options for shakes here. You can get a regular shake or a supreme shake with things like Butterfinger Oreo and cookies and cream. When I got to the payment window I saw that I had my pup in the car and they offered a cup of whip cream for her. She was delighted. read more

Royal Burger was just as good as I've ever had back home. It's a new world at Steak N' Shake. Gone are servers. Now ordering is via kiosk. I'm fine with it. I think it probably streamlined things, speeds up orders, and make for more accurate orders. Some people might not like that. But the owner is up front to greet you, and introduce you to the new ordering procedures. Customers that miss the servers, keep in mind the new system means your order is submitted as soon as you pay. Any delays in ordering is on you now. I doubt you will ever visit another SnS that is faster than this one. Typically SnS is slow, but worth it because of the made to order meals. Hopefully the new changes will occur at all locations, and maybe then closed locations will reopen again. I lost all the locations near me. Have to drive an hour away to find one now. As for the pandemic, they are dine in. They have sanitizer hand wipes both by the condiments and drinks counter, as well as in the bathrooms. Very clean location. read more

I do love steak and shake. It's a good meal on a tight budget. The milkshakes cannot be beat. As a chain they deserve 3 to 4 stars. This one in Georgetown ky needs a little help. The food was good but very slow on help and the milkshake was just ice cream, no milk. I really feel sorry for some of the staff because they were really short handed. I used to love steak and shake but it's more like steak and shame now. They used to have Mac and cheese kids meals, gone. They had garlic parmesan fries, still kinda there but the seasoning is in a sticky shaker that everyone in Georgetown has probably touched. For the cups the guy dropped them in the floor and then just sat them back up on the counter. There was literally dirt and mud on them?? As for the coffee they were clearly serving an instant coffee and had a single use milk like the kind you would get with a school lunch just sitting there out of temperature with just an open bag of sugar?? Who wants that?? It's just so sad. We were literally the only people there and it was dead. I won't ever be coming back. :( read more

I love Steak and Shake. It's one of my favorite fast food restaurants, and I love that the food is usually constant no matter where you go. This restaurant in particular can't get an order right in the to go line to save their lives. I made an order one day and the confusion at the window because the cashier didn't get it right was insane! The transaction didn't need to be this complicated, y'all do this all day. Just fix it. It's one of our favorite places to go for a bit of nostalgia as we both spent a lot of time in a Steak N Shake late at night during high school and college. Who didn't? Worst service. Waited nearly 15 minutes to be seated, while workers made eye contact and acknowledged our presence multiple times. Once sat, our drink and food order was taken nearly immediately. However, we did not receive our drinks until almost 45 minutes later. Our server only checked on us once and it was to bring us our drinks, which she did rudely and literally threw the straws in front of us. We waited another 20 minutes and were never checked on again, while other tables who had been seated after us received their food and drinks with prompt service. It may have been our waitress, or just terrible service, but it was not worth the wait. Multiple people in line were not seated or helped and in the hour and a half we were there, we watched quite a bit of people turn around and leave, which we also did. Better luck next time, but we won't be trying ours. read more

This Steak 'n Shake delivers on the company's commitment to poor service and lack of cleanliness. Took 15 minutes before a waitress came by despite 4 of them walking around. People who came in after us were served before us. When food arrived we had to remind server of the missing sides and that she never gave us silverware. Manager was oblivious and didn't make any attempt to rectify the situation. Sad part is I still like Steak n Shakes burgers despite this being the "norm" at most locations I visit across the country read more

Hey there! I currently work here and I've seen in some reviews confusion about the hours now. As of right now and until the foreseeable future our hours are 10 am-midnight. The dining room is currently closed for remodeling and should reopen in a couple months (drive thru is still open!) As an employee I encourage you to come and check out steak n shake. We have recently changed ownership and the new owners are great people who really care about cleanliness and overall customer experience. Even if you've written off this place as "slow" or "unclean" I strongly encourage you to come and see it now, especially once the dining room reopens. The only thing you will remember about this place is how terribly slow the service is, it is seriously horrible to take 10-15 minutes per car. Took about 5 minutes to get seated. Once we were seated it took about 15 minutes to get out our drinks. Another 45 to get our food. Almost every meal in the restaurant was sent back because there was something wrong with it. We never got our check so we had to go up and ask for it. The burger that we received was cold. The birthday cake shake had cherries mixed in which wasn't normal. It was a packed restaurant and only 3 waiters working. The cooks were immigrants but sadly couldn't really speak English so there was miscommunications there. Ordered another shake for carry out and was given the wrong one after waiting a while. Everyplace else was closing, and this Steak n Shake was open 24 hrs, has good burgers and shakes and even homemade soup with real vegetables, and the people are friendly. And one more thing...
