Stake n shake is great! I stop in more than once a week and I'm not a bitchy consumer, if I don't like it I just don't go back! We sadly lost a member of our family today and we were on a rush to the airport. The staff was wonderful! They sat us right away, took our order and we were out of there in 20min. Again the staff was very attentive and made an awful day much better and easier to deal with. Great place to visit. read more

Stake N Shake is conveniently located along what I affectionately call the Avenue of Awful, where many of Valley Ranches most revolting restaurant chains neatly line the 635, holding hands whilst encircling the ubiquitous Wal-Mart. I don't know what my problem was but the first time I ate here I thought it was actually pretty decent food. Since then, I have gone back a few times, and have had some of the most disgusting food of my life. Once the shake tasted like the ice cream had been thawed out and refrozen, then swirled around with some Hershey's syrup. Then I got a breakfast sandwich that was so disgusting I couldn't eat it. What the frick is that nasty orange sauce they put on their sandwiches? I asked for sausage and of course they gave me bacon. Just about the most disgusting bacon I have ever had. It must have been dog meat or something. AND their bloody drive-thru speaker is so incredibly loud and screachy, it always blows out the tiny speakers in my hearing aids when I go. I have told them this repeatedly but it never get's fixed. Get a freakin clue SNS, you are a scar on the face of Valley Ranch. read more

The reviews are right. The service is bad. I read them before going thinking that surely they have corrected everything by now. Ordering you get the feeling they aren't paying attention and then after realizing they forgot your chili, crackers and drink you realize they were not. read more

I came by this location around 1am on a Saturday night. I had 2/3 cars ahead me and ordered a milkshake and spicy chicken sandwich. 10 minute goes by I'm at the window I pay the guy. 5 minutes goes by and my milkshake gets delivered by a different employer, I tell her I'm still waiting on my spicy chicken about 3 minutes goes by and another employee tried to had me 2 bags full of food that has been sitting on the counter for over ten minutes. Now I'm thinking what In the hell is going on in this zoo finally a few more minutes goes by and the original guy that took the money told me they forgot to cook the spicy chicken and it will be 3-5 more minutes. I look at my phone and I tell the clerk I ordered 20 minutes ago what do you mean they forgot to cook it. Clerk apologized and offered me a coupon for my next visit. I told the employer I'm from California and leaving tomorrow morning but I told him he could issue me a refund and he stated he can't give me food and and a refund. I informed the clerk you just tried to give me a free meal what's the difference? He agreed to give me my money back and the food. I told him make sure that chicken sandwich has ONLY ketchup, cheese and lettuce and he called it out to the cook and guess what my order was still wrong and it took 32 minutes from once I ordered to finally be pulling out of the drive thru. Last two times I went through the drive through, my food has taken 30+ minutes. For a burger and salad, or a burger and hotdog. I've had to go inside and wait at the bar so they can actually make my food. Their restaurant has maybe one or two tables, the drive through has maybe one other car. I watch the kitchen staff just talk and take their sweet time doing everything. The food is okay here. But definitely not coming back after having to wait so long for simple burgers or salads. read more

I stop at this location for a sausage egg biscuit on my way to work once every other month or so. The last 2 times I stopped they didn't have biscuits made at 6am. How do you not have biscuits made at 6am? They hardly ever have anyone in the drive thru. Am I the only one who likes their biscuits sandwiches? Certainly better than McDonalds and Whataburger but I am tired of them not being able to make anything. read more

Came in during lunch on a weekday. Got seated immediately. Had my food in about 6-7 mins. I got the garlic burger and like another reviewer said, I had to wipe off the garlic spread from the top of the bun. It was waaay too much. Other than that though the burger was good and service wasn't bad. read more

I've liked Steak 'n Shake ever since I was a kid in Indiana. When I saw them sprout up in Texas I was eager to see if they were like I remembered them. Food wise they are. They still make tasty burgers, fries, onion rings, and shakes. The problem with this location anyway is they are slow. I've never gotten my food quickly. My last visit my wife and I waited over 30 minutes before someone came by to get our order. After ordering we waited quite a while for our food. When I paid I complained about the slowness and the cashier (manager?) apologized and took 1/3 off our bill. I still like the food and have to give them props for at least trying to make things right but it still isn't a good choice if you are in a hurry. read more

I've been going lately to this Steak n Shake and I can honestly say that I've been to better ones. Their staff isn't that great. They lack customer service and they're managers don't look very splended either. It's the nearest one to me, and it is rare to have a server serve you well. You basically have to be lucky that day to have great customer service. read more

Okay so my first experience with this place was BAD. Here is how it went down. We walk in and one of the employees was sitting at the counter (granted it was about 130 in the morning) and then she says "you guys can sit anywhere we will be right with you" so we grab some menus and go sit down in a booth kind of back in the corner. There are three employees working and we are the only table in there.. 5 minutes pass by.. no one comes to the table, now finally, after ten minutes one of the other employees comes with some menus in her hand.. she almost gets up to the table and she says.. "oh you guys already have menus.. do you guys not want to sit a little closer?" and then she just WALKS AWAY and does not come back for another 5 minutes or so. Keep in mind.. we haven't even been asked what we would like to drink.. and why would she ask if we wanted to sit closer? So she doesn't have to walk so far?? Okay so then our food comes (incorrectly of course.. and again, we are the only table) but I don't say anything cuz at this point I just want to eat my meal in get out of there. The food was GREAT! My fiancé and I both had the bacon cheeseburger. Ok so as we are eating the 2 employees that were still working go outside (so there are no employees in the building at this point) and are talking and it looks like smoking as well... so we wait for about 10/15 minutes until they come back inside. Once they came back inside my fiancé and I went up to the front register to pay for our meal. Before we could even get up to the counter we could smell the weed. I mean it was like hitting a wall. So not only are you high on the job, you are smoking weed at work, leaving the building with zero employees inside, and now you reek of weed and you are going to be touching people's food?! No way. I only gave 3 stars because, while I get milkshakes frequently, I have not eaten a lot of meals here. I can vouch for the onion rings which have been excellent every time I have gotten them. The chicken fingers were great. Burgers are a bit small. S&S's fries are different than most, being thin shoestring types which can sometimes be a bit crunchy- like those potato stick snacks you buy in a canister- but that is how they are supposed to be here, so don't expect fries like you get at McD's. The shakes are awesome. When you get a peanut butter cup shake, you WILL need the spoon they give you for all the big chunks of candy in it. The restaurant and kitchen look clean. Prices are not, IMO, much different than other fast food burger places. But this is NOT other burger joints. S&S is just different. It's a different atmosphere, a different way of doing food. The nice thing is your food is made to order and not kept in warmers. The service at this restaurant is outstanding. This is the most pleasant, most polite group of people I have encountered at a fast food place, and even at "quality" restaurants. I give the staff 5 stars :) read more

The men's restroom is disgusting. The sinks have 4inch black rings of filth. The urinal area is a worse. Urine coats the floor and walls under and around the urinal. The urinal itself is equally filthy. The toilets are off limits except for urination. I refuse to touch anything inside the men's room, even to wash my hands. I go to a Thursday morning meeting at this location and have witnessed the downfall of sanitation over the course of several months. This morning some of the people I meet with found dirty eating utensils. I will not eat at this location but some of my colleagues will. The coffee is horrible so I bring my own. The hvac is controlled at another location so it is usually cold inside during the winter. The good news is, it is easy to find a table for breakfast because hardly anyone eats there. I hope that someone from upper management reads this and takes action quickly. If not, I'm sure the health department will. read more
