I just went through and ordered a few items and when I got home, I realized that one of my items was made incorrectly. I ordered a double add lettuce no onion and I received a single with onion no lettuce. In and of itself that to me was actually a pretty low issue, but I called the store and tried to let them know what's happened and I didn't even want a refund even though I was overcharged for what I received and I didn't want To cause a major issue. I just wanted to let them know that this happened. The only response I received was being told will you probably received the wrong sandwich ma'am. There was no apology. There was no like how can we make this right? Food took 35 minutes to get. Another group was I. There like 15 minutes longer, and got their food cold. They also got refunds. Most of the workers were just standing around not doing much. The fries were decent, but not very hot. Very mediocre burger, but a 35 minute wait just because we ate in is completely unacceptable. read more

We went to dine in, and first finding only kiosk ordering was a little different. But place our order, found a seat and waited for our name to be called. Upon picking up our order, the cook that brought it to the counter stated that they didn't have any chili...that was ordered on the kiosk for a hot dog. And not having chili was fine, but moments later the manager in the back was yelling that "she wasn't going to make any more chili this late!" Apparently someone else had the same issue. We ate our meal, and that was fine. When I approached the counter to ask how it would be handled to adjust for the chili that I had paid the additional charge for, the manager said she would have to "submit" for a refund. There was nothing else she could do,, "her hands were tied". Just a poor attitude, and no resolution...no apology...NO REFUND FOR SOMETHING I PAID FOR!! Won't be back!! read more

Food is consistently good. However, I do have an issue with how long it takes to get your food. I've been here twice and had the same experience. My meal today took 23 minutes from the time the receipt was printed until I received my order: One burger, and an order of fries. There were eight people in the store. There were generally one or two cars in the drive-through. I realize this takes longer than your average fast food joint, but 23 minutes is a long time twiddling your thumbs sitting in a booth. I'm not sure if there is ever a good reason to come back. read more

Went inside. Tried using their app. If you make one mistake which is very easy to do you arn't allowed to use your rewards for 3 hours. They also took many things off their menu. No chicken tenders or chicken what so ever. No salads if you might actually want to eat healthily. You are forced to order using their kiosk which doesn't work well. Their hours aren't correctly reflected online. I typed "food open late" into google maps and yup steak n shake claims 24 hours. Should have been an easy fix in the early days of this pandemic, but still shows 24 hours online... its been almost a year. Wtf is that? Customer in front was allowed to order but was told the shake machine was down... okay well from time to time, sure, but maybe have several shake machines on site so that the machine is never down for the routine cleaning schedule? Just a suggestion if "shake" is in your company's name? It's now my turn, or so I thought and I can't believe the audacity, but was told "we're actually closed now" What?! You take the gals order ahead of me only to tell me to go somewhere else?! Guess that's where we're at now, "Welcome to Steak n' Shake! No, no ignore the customer that is immediately in front of you. Idk if the franchise owner cares? Idk if the higher ups care at the corporate level? There's talks of the new administration in the oval office caring but we'll see who moves on this first. When we got there it was very busy and I think we got someone new because out of the six of us, four of our orders were messed up (and for one of the messed up orders, we had to pay for the mix-up). While the food there is great like the grilled cheese and the sliders, I actually don't like their shakes that much. Usually a great burger place to get fast n good burgers that are juicy and fresh. We got at the drive through window at 6:25pm wit two cars ahead of us. We waited for 27 minutes until we finally got to the window. Got our shakes and waited another 8 minutes for our food to be passed through the window. Ask the young lady what was taking so long should not have taken 35 minutes to get two burgers and a fry. All she could say was sorry no other explanation. Since we were within a quarter-mile of the expressway we grabbed her food and started on our way in a mile down the expressway we realized that our fries were soggy and cold, my burger which was supposed to be a single cheeseburger with catchup, mustard, lettuce, mayonnaise, and pickles was only just cheese. The burger was barely warm and the cheese really had not melted into the bun and the burger was dry. The wife's Frisco burger was pretty much the same dry and lukewarm at best. Don't know why it would take 27 minutes to get to the window and eight minutes to receive food that is not piping hot. I can see why the restaurants are closing down left and right. We had a terrible experience tonight. We ordered online and I pulled in 2 mins ahead of schedule to the curbside spot (#2), where I proceeded to stay in my car for 10 mins waiting for my food. Every drive thru order was gone by then and I still didn't have the food I ordered online 30 mins prior. So I had to find a mask, and trudge inside. My order was sitting on the counter with a lady tapping her fingers like "are you Caterina", "yes, I have a curbside order and tried to call and your phones are off the hook". Every time I tried to call it would go straight to voicemail, like they couldn't be bothered to get their butts out of the warm store and to my car...... the laziness was apparent once I was inside. Then before I grabbed my order I noticed that my bag was horizontally positioned in the bag. When we got home, all my fries were dumped all over the bag. The fires were sooooooo over salted it legitimately made my stomach sick, to try to eat one, and the orders were completely wrong. I had no toppings and triple burger. No cheese, no tomato, no nothing. It was so dry. My fiancée got a mushroom burger when he also ordered a triple. This is embarrassing service and we are so sad we wasted our date night with this. Brother loves this place. However temp is frigid. Every customer around us was cold and commenting. Staff blew off. Clearly their comfort is more important than customers. Mushroom Swiss burger was tasteless. One employee hustled past me with my unsteady and disabled brother on our way out. My brother almost toppled over. She never even offered an apology. Service is friendly and helpful. Food quality, is standard Steak n Shake. I typically enjoy a simple Frisco Melt or a Cajun Burger and fries with a Chocolate shake. I love that there's no changes or unwanted surprises ever. A great place to take my Grandma when she's hankering for a burger and shake. As a customer, I love the happy hour deals. This location can be busy at 2pm or 2am. Just depends on the day and weather. You get more of the shake you pay for dining in, than you would choosing "drive thru". You're paying the same price. Stopped in for lunch and was very disappointed with the preparers behind the counter. My wife ordered a bacon burger without cheese and no mayo, but the first time it came it had cheese. They took it back and the second time it returned it had mayo. How difficult is it to follow a ticket? I don't blame the waitress, because she ordered it correctly, the waitress was very accommodating and took her food of the bill. Ive always heard great things about Steak 'n shake , so I decided to try them .. Hopefully I just got a bad location because after waiting 22 minutes in the drive though and yes I understand about Covid etc the fries were cold as could be.. the lettuce had more winkles then a 100 yr old persons face, and bun stale. All which I threw out my window into the grass in hopes that the birds hanging around would eat... the only thing worth eating was the cold drink . The highlight of my whole experience was that the young lady at the window was very polite and friendly. sad part is I thought ok maybe it was just bad timing but when I got back to the hotel and mentioned it to front desk, both employees said same thing.. That they stopped sending hotel guests there because of all the complaints.
