The big rail burger (I think that's what it's called) was amazing! It was on special due to an event happening at the bar/restaurant so I was expecting it to be your basic slider. Boy was I wrong! Not only is it a full size burger, it was piled with shredded ham and caramelized onions! I highly recommend it. It did seem to take a long time to get my food but otherwise everything was great. read more

I ordered a burger, medium rare, it came RARE with bits of pieces of lettuce and cold cheese. My husband ordered the French dip, cheese and au jus were cold, and the meat looked old. The last time we were there the burgers were awesome. So sad. The manager did give us two free drinks- Not enough with upset stomach afterwards. The service was excellent! I'm not sure if I always order food once the chef takes a few shots but I order the same 2 sandwiches each time... and they are completely different every time.. there is no consistency. The turkey deli the first time I had it was very thin sliced turkey piled up tasted amazing and then I order again and it's 2 slices of turkey sometimes on bread, and sometimes on a bun.. even if I choose bread.. ham grilled cheese was amazing one time, then on a hamburger bun dry over cooked the next... a hamburger bun? And not put together at all. I guess I just order at the worst times. But I've been pretty disappointed lately. read more

If a country bar in Jackson is what you seek, this place won't disappoint. Great live music and cheap drinks. Decent menu too. No cover. We visited on a Saturday night and the place was jumping by 9pm. Private parking lot and easy to find. Keep the drinks simple and you won't be disappointed. The meatheads will congregate around the punching bag to test their might. It's a good show. Enjoy! read more

I went to the Brass Rail today to grab lunch. I wanted the experience to be better than just driving home for a grilled cheese or something. Next time I will know that the correct choice would have been the grilled cheese. Sorry but honesty is what we are after with reviews so I will tell you first you get hit with the smell. I think the building has gangrene. The next issue was the generally unfriendly atmosphere the bartender, her friends and the kitchen staff created by ignoring me for the most part while they shared pictures and stories of their drinking the night before. The only comment I have about food is that I make good grilled cheese. Sorry for the crappy review Brass Rail but you started it. read more

Nice little neighborhood bar with good food and good service. We have gotten a variety of things here including the chicken quesadilla, pulled pork sandwich, fries and burgers. Nothing fancy, but all have been good. Recently I was impressed with them even more! On our last visit I asked if they could make a patty melt as it's not on the menu. (I could tell by what was on the menu that they likely had all the ingredients.) The person taking my order was quick to say they would make it! I Yay! Moved away about a year ago I still stop in almost every time I make it back to town. They have cheap drinks and the food for a bar is amazing. Can be a little loud and hectic when they have music. I prefer sitting at the bar playing keno with the 3 or 4 regulars that are always there in the afternoon. read more

Came in for a drink after work. Walked in wearing a mask. As I sat down the server/bartender not wearing a mask. Trying to support local businesses but my health is not worth risking. Watched another person walk out from the kitchen not wearing a mask. I have to ask why would a business risk it. Have always enjoyed the place and the food is good. felt like i was on an episode of bar rescue! the beginning LOL!! walked into holes in the wall from the back, church next to them seemed to be filled with crack heads creeping around the bar saying very weird things. order a crown apple and sprite... pop was flat. made us another on with a 2 liter of faygo.... still flat. worst experience ever, won't be back. read more

Great band tonight, but unfortunately the service was terrible. The service was slow, we were charged for drinks that we did not have, and when asked for a tab we were showed a ripped off piece of paper, instead of the original tab that the waitress took our order on. Most likely the best burger in Jackson. I catch lunch or dinner here when I'm around this area. Can't beat the food, the atmosphere is laid back and friendly. Drink selection is good and prices are great. You can eat here for the same or less than fast food and the food is incredible. Almost didn't review because I like it so much I want to keep it for myself. read more

NEVER AGAIN!! I've put up with the spotty service here but getting NO service finishes it I call and ask what time the kitchen closes, hoping to get a burger and a beer on my way home. . .I'm told 9:00 . . . .walk in at 20 til 9 and they tell me the kitchen is closed and they are only cooking up door dash orders They'll fill for take out but not serve the guy who actually comes in to their establishment hoping for a beer and a burger, 20 minutes before what I'm told is cut off time. Even after my lowered expectations with the new owners this is the last straw after so many failures, not gonna bother with the rail ever again. read more

I love the Brass Rail. I love the staff, drinks and the crazy variety of people that come stumbling in there. On any given night you might see the former mayor kickin' back some shots or the average drunk. This place is the definition of a great dive bar. There is one pool table, in the room off to the side there is a beer pong table and popcorn, in the room in the back there are a few casino games, and big screen tvs. Good bar food and even better (CHEAP) pours. Now that Michigan has the smoking ban, it isn't one of those overly smokey gross dives and with the internet juke box you can listen to just about anything you want. It does get busy on certain nights during softball season and tables are pushed together and preped for the teams. Thanksgiving Eve and St. Patty's are probably the only nights that it gets kind of crazy. This isn't the sort of place that you go to mingle and flirt with people. It's the place that you go to chill out after a long week, be greeted by name, and have some laughs with the other patrons. read more

I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could because their drinks are so STUPID CHEAP! A round was like $11 for 5 people. How often do you find that? The only downside is the bar puts the "dive" in "dive bar". Really just a smoky collection of tables and TVs surrounded by as many mens softball teams as possible. Where to start? Was in town on a weekend about a month ago with some friends and decided to stop by after not being there in a long time. Safe to say none of us will be back. Food was ok but we were concerned about the cook who seemed to be having problems standing up (drunk?), in addition there was a short hair, heavy set, foul mouth bartender that didn't have a problem running her mouth about everything SHE had an opinion on (management, people etc...).
