This Steak'n Shake used to be so good but the more I have come the worse it has seem to get. The service was always slow but now it has gotten worse. Plus the floors are terribly sticky and need to be mopped. The tables are always dirty and the seats are sticky. We always ask for our shakes to be served with our burgers but they either give them to us early or too late. Looking out the window I wished I went to Culvers instead. read more

My husband and I stopped here for a shake on our way home to TC from a long road trip. We ordered a dark chocolate shake via the drive-thru. It was 3:00 in the afternoon on a Saturday. There was one car in front of us, but it still took about 20 minutes to get our shake. And the shake was horrible! It had some weird chemical/hamburger taste. It was so bad, we couldn't eat it. As we had already hit the road again, we didn't want to waste time turning around to complain. We stopped at the next rest stop and tossed the shake out. Yuk! read more

Honestly very disappointed with the service here . I got the wrong order and the waitress wanted to argue with me about it eventually I just said it was fine I just didn't want to pay for the meal I didn't get . The bill didnt get fixed so I had to ask again . The Cashier at the end was being super rude to customers & us as well . Bad customer service over all . Manager on duty was clearly busting her butt to make everything better for her team unfortunately her team didn't do the same for her . read more

went through the drive through ordered two shakes and simple no special orders and made us pull up and got one of are orders wrong and made us wait a long time. and the lady was even trying to help. read more

just ate there sunday night on trip home from Joliet ill. not one in our area food was excellent service was great

11;20am for lunch today approx. 6 other people there, service was awful, the place was so dirty, the floors etc,. the mustard and ketchup bottles were the worst I have ever seen, coated around the tops, under the caps, down the sides , I would bet my life they have not been cleaned in weeks, I could never think of putting that on my burger, when asked to speak to the manager she comes to the table with a dirty, and I mean DIRTY blouse on, slop all over the front of her (Allie), that tipped the scales for all of us to get up and leave, and will never come back, no apology, it was an attitude of take it or leave it. WELL WE ALL DECIDED TO LEAVE IT. Waited at the drive through for 2 minutes before I got a response from anyone and it was a rude " just a moment" then waited for 6 more minutes with no response so I left. I realize it was 1 am am but still that is horrible customer service. read more

We had the WORST experience ever today (June 17, 2014) at this Steak and Shake. We arrived at the restaurant at 11:50 am and sat at a booth right away. The restaurant might have been 40% full with a staff of at least 10 people. My wife and I ordered a Beef Hot Dog with a Bowl of Chili and 3 Chicken Tenders with Fries. I finally received the Chile 20 minutes later and 40 minutes later we still had not received our food! The manager did nothing but blame the "corporation" or ask what we expected her to do. As the manager stressed that fact that our order was still in line and other orders were not placed ahead of ours, the couple who had just entered the restaurant only 20 minutes earlier, was presented their pair of cheese burgers!! This restaurant is an extreme WASTE OF YOUR TIME! It's like attending a Frat Party instead of a sit down restaurant, and yet they do not want to be referred to as "fast food". The manager of this restaurant SHOULD NOT be in that position as the only thing she is capable of doing is making excuses and lying to the customer. Bob Evans is just east of this restaurant, and I would highly suggest that you frequent that restaurant instead! read more

Slow service, and someone appears to have turned the thermostat to Arctic blast and broken the knob off. Everyone else also seemed frustrated, I overheard another customer complain only to be told "well, we're trying, OK?" No! Not OK! The correct response is "I'm sorry". The employee responsible was dressed in a colored button down shirt and no apron, so was presumably the shift lead or something. Our waiter and hostess were quite polite, and seemed to be doing the best they could- often two or three of them would be waiting by the window staring into the kitchen waiting for their orders. When our food came out, both my wife's burger and my sandwich had undersized patties- 2/3 of it was just bread and sauce, no meat. But, we had already been there almost an hour so there was NO WAY we were having them remade. We asked if someone had called in and left them short staffed-"no, we have like 7 servers". You don't need 7 servers if your kitchen isn't making food fast enough for them to serve. I like SnS in general but won't come back here- the same complaints in other reviews over a long period of time show they're not interested in fixing anything. read more
