Great steak restaurant near the quaint downtown where the local radio station has speakers on every street light posts playing music and weather at all hours in Bad Axe, Michigan. The weather is harsh during the six months long winter with white snow everywhere but the people are friendly and downright patriotic. The General Motors Company abandoned the nearby Flint, Michigan factory as seen in the old documentary movie made by Michael Moore, but the Bad Axe people didn't abandon GM. There are more Tahoes and Sierra Pickups owned and operated than any Oklahoma towns. The drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. The steak salad was fantastic. Steakhouse is my partner's choice for their birthday dinner. Last year it was the strip steak. This year the ribeye. He prefers the strip. This year we added a starter of fried pickle chips. They were very good. My choice for their birthday dinner meal was shrimp skewers. They were boring. No flavor. Service was very good. We went early so it wasn't busy. This post is to commend two employees of the Steakhouse. During our very recent visit the number of occupied tables went from four to thirteen with a patron count of two to eight per table... and two seated at the bar. My husband and I watched as Alicia, singularly, worked as waitress, bartender and busser. She did this with efficiency, graciousness and a smile on her face even as one could see she was overwhelmed. At some point Cheyenne, an unscheduled employee, entered. She quickly joined in to provide some relief to Alicia's staggering responsibility. Despite there only being 2 servers that are doing ALL the front of house stuff ( hosting, serving, bartending and busing tables) food was good. Servers did a great job being as attentive as possible in the situation they are in. Being in the industry myself, I give them both a GIANT round of applause for bringing cool under pressure. We decided to go check out this steakhouse since we never have been to it before. I was a little nervous because of the reviews. The place definitely could use a carpet cleaning. Not a fan of carpeting in a dinning room with thousands of people walking and spilling stuff on it. The service was excellent and a five for us. We got steak, macaroni and cheese and artichoke dip. All the food tasted good but wasn't excellent. They do have very good sauces to go with the food . It's definitely nice having a steakhouse even as a option in a much smaller town than the big town we are from and use to. We definitely will be back and try more things on the menu like the homemade soups and delicious sounding salads. read more

Service was excellent. The food was acceptable.... but ... ordered mushrooms that I was charged for but did not get with my steak. And the baked potato was ridiculously small. It was a bad joke on an $80.00 meal. Really small. Tiny small. The potato was the cheapest item on the plate and they sent out a tiny potato. I'd be hard pressed to eat here again. Was a 4 top sat at a small table. They sat a 3 top at a 6 top right next to us. Chips for the Artichoke dip were stale. Waitress was green but trying her best. Had so many different people dropping things off took me halfway through the meal to figure out who our waitress was. They were moderately busy but not slammed. Almost an hr to get our food after ordered. She gave us a "Lil discount" for the wait. $5.00. Half of us bagged our food as soon as it came because we weren't hungry anymore. After all this. I was still kind to our waitress and tipped 15% not at all deserved but I don't want any reason for someone to say I was the problem. Traveling to Bad Axe I was recommended a hearty dinner here. Stopped in about 7pm on a weekday, was greeted and seated quickly. Had the 12oz sirloin baked potato loaded and veggies. Cooked perfectly and steak was lean. Potato was normal with plenty of loaded toppings. Veggies were veggies. Finished it off with a layered chocolate cake and warm a gooey. Had to come up to start winterizing and neighbors told me about this new "great" steakhouse. So I walk in and you're greeted by the bathrooms, which were like everything else around here (outdated and neglected). The inside of this restaurant looks like a half ass finished basement from the 80's. So they bring out the bread and it's in this long bag, and then you open it up it's like a little cibata loaf. Ordered a burger medium well, look at the pic what do you think. I sent it back and didn't want anything else. Wife said here ribeye was okay. For the prices they charge it should be better than okay. To add a baked potato to your steak they charge you extra, that's like paying extra for nachos when you sit down at a Mexican restaurant. Server was nice as was the the staff, the people next to us were loud and obnoxious. Nothing bothers me more than people that lack etiquette and are so uncouth. For up here this suppose to be better than average, to me it's meh. read more

Ordered take out for 10, as we had to cancel in person reservation. Everything arrived hot, and exactly as ordered. Pork chop, shrimp, and steaks were delicious. Green beans and other sides done perfectly. Not one complaint or issue. Would definitely recommend again. Great job crew! read more

I've been here a few times, dine in and carryout. Dine in has always been fine but the last 2 carryout orders service/quality has lacked. One carryout order - I checked the food boxes before I left just to make sure everything was there. I noticed my queso fries were missing green onion and bacon. When I asked the server she told me I was mistaken and didn't even get a menu to check. I told her I was sure I saw it on the menu, she finally went and got them but acted like she was doing me a huge favor and even said again that it wasn't on the menu. After leaving I checked the menu and I was in fact correct. The other carryout order - I stood at the bar waiting for almost 10 minutes while multiple employees walked past, saw me and didn't even acknowledge me. Twice they even look past me to seat groups that walked in. When I was finally acknowledged the server did apologize for the wait and when I asked if bread came with my order she said not carryout but went and got me a loaf since I had to wait, which I appreciated. Unfortunately I realized my order had been sitting in a bag on the bar before I even got there. Everything was super soggy and lukewarm. The bacon on my Mac and cheese definitely wasn't cooked enough or I just got the leftover because it was all chewy. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I asked to do a take out on the phone, the lady that answered said sure one minute. 12 minutes pass and I'm still on hold. So I hang up and call again the same lady said I can do take out but it will be an hour wait. So I wait on hold for another 5 minutes and the manager came on the phone said hello and hung up before I could even speak. SO I call AGAIN and the girl that has answered 3 times now said they are not doing takeout anymore. Beyond upset and will NEVER pay for food here. I am sorry such a low score. I come from a restaurant family. Owners, general managers, wait staff and more. Came in a few days ago with a group of five. All single tabs. We chose your Steakhouse because only one of us had eaten there before. I had never heard of it even though I am a year round resident in Pigeon area. Hint: you could use some advertising and maybe event nights i.e. Lady's night with some sort of draw like half off dessert or appetizers. We all ordered different dishes. I ordered BBQ chicken. The meal came in a timely fashion, but she went to set ribs down in front of me and someone came out right behind the server and said she pushed the wrong button and that she was getting the chicken started. I did not want to hold the other guests up and make a big issue as I was new to this group so I said the ribs would be fine. Again not wanting to eat after everyone else had eaten. The ribs were cold as were green beans but tasty e, baked potato ice cold and over done. Everything was cold. My fault I did not send it back immediately. I think it was a previous error and they were trying to pass it off on me. Very disappointed. Bill came and they charged me the price for ribs. Now I do believe they can make a go of it, but they need some lessons and fast. Hope they can make a go of it as there interior was bright and cheery. Consider using cloth napkins and including spoon for coffee or what ever. A little more generous with the delicious bread. You can make it. I've only been there once since it's opening. Just never seem to find the time. The wife and I went with our neighbors on a Saturday night. I got the Porterhouse steak. I'll give it a 6.5. My wife had filet and said it was very good. Vince also got the filet and liked it. Grace got the perch ( she doesn't eat meat ) and wow what a platter it was. She was also pleased with her meal. We had The Steakhouse cater our office "social distanced" holiday get together .... we ordered several dinners and desserts ..... the food was delivered on time and was delicious! The steaks were prepared as ordered. Very friendly and accommodating .... we originally thought we were going to be able to have our party at the restaurant but obviously things changed. this restaurant was so terribly amazing it's awful. the food was astronomically out of this world. the staff and service was amazingly normal. the chicken marsala wasn't to die for but i didn't throw up in my mouth. ladies and gentlemen it's called a steakhouse not a chicken marsala house. but overall truly a terribly awesome experience. i recommend this to absolutely no body so i don't have to wait in line because i will be attending this restaurant daily. p.s. the lights out front are dangerously blinding. read more

Me and a buddy came to Bad Axe on our way up to Port Austin and we saw this place was well reviewed by another yelper, but i did not expect it to be THIS good. Really, i am a picky eater and when stuff is subpar I'll say it, but the meal i had at this place really surprised me. I got the broiled salmon with rice and green beans with an appetizer of fried portobello mushrooms. The mushrooms were amazing and crispy, which usually at other places the fried mushrooms get mushy. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the sides of rice and green beans were just how i like them. All in all, if i ever come out to Bad Axe again, I'm definitely coming here. read more

I'm not usually one to brag this much about a restaurant but, I have not a single bad thing to say. My husband and I came here for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon and the cleanliness and atmosphere immediately grabbed our attention as we walked in. We were happily greeted and seated as soon as we came in. We ordered Queso Fries as an appetizer and we weren't disappointed at all especially for it just being fries. The fries were steakhouse cut and perfectly crisped, covered in a delicious creamy queso, topped with crispy bacon, green onion and pico de gallo. They served a warm house bread with a cinnamon butter that would put Texas Roadhouse to shame! I had the sirloin dinner which was cooked to a perfect medium rare and came with two sides; I ordered mine with a baked potato with sour cream and butter and baked beans. My husband had the Sirloin Melt which he said was juicy and tender (that's a good review from him..lol). I appreciate the cook and the server...you guys rocked it!! read more

Time for a steakhouse to find a cook that can cook an actual steak. Went for my Dads birthday yesterday and had raw steak...I had a filet and my Dad had a NY strip both not even bloody so raw! The waitress wanted to know if she could just take the steak recook it....Why would you do that? I like to eat my sides with my steak that is why I ordered them. I let her know that she took my food which left the kitchen took it back threw the steak on for a bit then nuked my potato and mac and cheese which resulted in mac and cheese like paste and awful tasting potato both still barely warm. Paying $25 for this meal I was not happy one bit... Not eating with my family together ridiculous. Not only can the cook not produce nicely cooked steak also cannot count....My Mom ordered chicken strips which is 4 and she got 3....The waitress did bring out another order which had a hair cooked in it....This has been the worst meal I've had from there yet this was the 3RD and last for my parents. This restaurant is new to bad axe so they are busy and still working to get everything running smoothly. I ordered the medium rare New York strip with "smashed redskins" and coleslaw. For how busy they were, the food didn't take a to long time to come to our table about the time it would take to cook a steak. The redskins where just mashed potatoes. It was a little misleading. When I hear smashed redskins my mind goes to seasoned baked redskins smashed slightly. Wasn't the best mashed potatoes maybe because I thought I was going to receive something different, still delicious. Coleslaw was perfect. My steak was a perfect medium rare, but lacking in seasoning. Almost no salt at all.. but the mushroom dipping sauce that came with the steak was a perfect balance of salty and savory. So I really enjoyed my steak with the dipping sauce because it compensated for the lack of seasoning in the steak, but what if someone doesn't like mushrooms. Maybe season the stake more and take some salt out of the dipping sauce. (If I didn't have the dipping sauce I probably would of been very dissatisfied with the steak) But to be honest it was a good experience, and I enjoyed my meal. read more
