This cafe is right in town. Easy to find and easy parking. They serve breakfast until 11:30am and lunch and dinner menu starts at 5pm but lunch menu items are available as well. We ordered the chicken steak and hamburger steak meals that came with mashed potatoes and salads. The portions are extremely generous and so tasty. Our waitress, Ella was so sweet and efficient. I definitely recommend this place and will return to try the other menu items. read more

What a great place! While on vacation in Idaho we stopped in for a quick bite while headed to McCall. Nestled among some great turn of the century buildings this crusty little unassuming cafe did not disappoint. The lone gal sitting by the kitchen was kind and accommodating. She took our order then disappeared. I swear she was running the entire show! After some banging around and sizzling sounds she quickly emerged with our food. And there was A LOT of it! Everything was hot and delicious! I had the patty melt which was the biggest and most likely the best I've ever had. We shared an order of steak fingers as we were told this was something we should definitely try while in Idaho. Yum! We all agreed that we wished they had these in Phoenix. If you ever find yourself in Southwest Idaho, take a turn off Highway 95 and give this place a try. It will not disappoint. read more

Good food as long as you get no hair. Good prices and good portions. It's the service that kills this place. Young waitresses playing on their smartphones instead of checking on customers. The food we had with hair was taken care of. It happens. We didn't ask for free food but it was taken off our bill. I ate most of mine until full when I'd found hair so I didn't care as much. Partner had salad that had multiple pieces. Cook was an older lady with loose hair. Ticket was free and even offered to recook. So I can't complain about that. But after the fact the waitress sat on her phone while we waited for refills. We gave it another chance the next day and same thing. We got our food and the waitress went and sat down at the table by the register and got on her phone never to be seen again. read more

It's hard to find good food in small towns sometimes so when I'm happy I like to share. We had some burgers and a side salad. The burgers were fantastic hand pressed 1/2lb burgers and the salad was passable for a healthy side dish but nothing to write home about. Come here if you love your food seriously undercooked:) told the waitress and she decided to be a bitch and literally say "oh my god" and put the same food on the grill and then came back and threw my plate on the table and yes, food did fall off the plate. I am a local born and raised and then lived many other places, I do not say this Cafe is a great place to eat but it is a good example of small town cafes. Yes it has trophy Mule deer mounts - it is farming, ranching, mining, logging, and hunting country. Arrived here after a bad experience in New Meadows completely starved. This placed was suggested by a my son, he drives truck up and down US 95 and knows the area. Walked in, 1 other patron, young waitress greeted us and immediately brought us menus. Took our drink orders, ice tea for me, coffee for my companion. Looked over the menu, at this point I think I could have ate the menus, I was so hungry. Companion ordered a bacon burger and tots and I got the Chili Burger with fries. After a reasonable amount of time the orders came out. OMG they were huge! Good thing I was so hungry. The waitress said she would be near if we needed anything to just shout out, no problem as we were the only ones there then. Soon a quite elderly gentleman came in the waitress immediately greeted him and brought him a cup of coffee, obviously he is there quite often. She was friendly and chatted with a lady who came in to order a to-go order. She received her order promptly. The burgers were good, companion said his tots were a little overdone and the coffee weak, but otherwise good. I would visit this spot again when in the area. read more

There is not much to say positively about this place which is unfortunate because there is potential if completely overhauled. Myself and my guy passed through Council on our way up to Idaho and were in the need for some grub. Being the adventurous type I thought it could be fun sampling something small and local: a grave mistake. Entering, the feel is a very simple eatery, with old pictures of cowboys such as John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and the like, stuffed deer heads mounted on the wall and forest camo vinyl tablecloths adorning the tables. The menu is small, which should provide ample ability for the food to be prepared well but again, was severely lacking in the end. We were told the soup of the day sounded like "clam chowder" to which we ordered some only to receive and upon tasting, found it to be some foreign, tasteless white paste with bits of ham: "ham chowder". Swallowing what we could we hoped our main meals were better (spoiler: it isn't). Being swept up in small town hopefulness I ordered the chicken friend steak, and received what I suppose was a steak, texture wise though made my stomach leery and covered with a white "gravy" I suspected was one in the same of my chowder base. The mashed potatoes served with it were a poor imitation and I do not know how one can over cook canned corn but apparently this place can. I ate as much as was polite and we left with our stomachs churning and nauseous. read more

my wife and I are from out of town we stopped in for lunch and could not believe the attitude some of these employee's had. One group would say thank you every time they would ask for something or received something and one employee would blow them off. when they went to pay they mentioned the service and the attitude and another employee said that is how she is she is always a bitch, loud enough for the entire restaurant could hear.They have no customer skills and to top that off they had a baby in the kitchen area where the food is made. One of the cooks actually came out and started giving a customer or maybe someone she knew a neck massage right in front of all the customers that were there eating and then went right back in to cook more food without washing her hands. Also where I was sitting I had direct view of the kitchen and most of the employee's where eating in the kitchen and putting their fingers in their mouths and then touching customers food. We have never been there and I asked what was good our server ignored me and walked off after giving us our menu. i have never in my life been to a place that had the worst service and the worst employee's. I will be telling all my friends and family that come this way to never eat at that place, and will be posting this on facebook and yelp. read more
