When I called on 2/4 to confirm, they rescheduled me to 2/11. Strange, but I went along with it. The Service: When I arrived on 2/11, I explained that my struts were recently replaced but the car had been making a rattling noise. They quoted $90 for a diagnostic inspection. Within 10 minutes, they called me over to show me a loose bolt (pictured). The mechanic tightened it in about 5 minutes. Then they charged me $200--apparently $90 for the diagnostic plus $110 to tighten a single bolt. Upsell Attempt: They also recommended replacing my struts for $1,500 ($1,300 with their "discount"). This doesn't make sense since I just had them replaced, which is why I brought the car in for the rattling in the first place. Bottom Line: $200 to tighten one bolt in 5 minutes feels excessive. I'll be getting a second opinion on the strut recommendation. I'm disappointed because I specifically chose this shop based on positive reviews, but my experience didn't match the reputation. They even took my car back the following week after I found slight misalignment issues with the exhaust and my aftermarket shifter; they had no qualms about fixing it complimentary and did it extremely quickly. Terrifying and Unprofessional Service - OWNER THREATENED TO HIT ME!!…read more My experience at Dcharly Auto Mechanic Shop was not just poor; it was frightening and dangerous. The owner is a volatile individual who threatened me with physical violence. Here's the detailed incident: I purchased a $43 Groupon for a conventional oil change for my Hyundai Elantra. I called the shop beforehand, and the owner, Luimy Olivo, confirmed over the phone that the coupon would be valid for my car (See attached screencap of the phone call made to him). He said come over any time. Went there 2 hours later. He or is staff did not ask for coupon and did the oil change Gave coupon when asked for it after the oil change and he said coupon is not valid because we put synthetic oil in your car!! I told him he confirmed that the conventional oil coupon for $43 will work and he simply denied saying that on the phone. See attached screen shot of the CONVENTIONAL OIL coupon he posted on Groupon, plus the printout of the same coupon that I took with me (I took a picture of the coupon printout in his office as well) I insisted to put conventional and he said he does not has any conventional oil! I again insisted to put conventional so he argued for 5 minutes and then ordered from O'Reilly's and said it will arrive in 30minutes From then on he started talking very unprofessionally One hour after placing order, I asked him to call O'Reilly's. He said he was busy so I had to ask him several times before he called. He told me that O'Reilly's will take another 30-40minutes At this point I told him I cannot wait any more and suggested he send someone to O'Reilly's which is just 1.8miles from his shop and he refused. He lied he is just a manager and is not authorized to send someone to Oreilly's. He is actually the owner of the business. So I called O'Reilly's in front of him but he refused to talk to them on the phone. At this point , I told him he was holding me and my car hostage (while I still had O'Reilly's customer rep on the speaker phone). Right then, HE GOT INTO TOTAL RAGE AND STARTING VERBALLY ABUSING ME WITH VERY FOUL LANGUAGE AND CHARGED TOWARDS ME WITH A CLEAR INTENT OF INTIMIDATING ME AND THEN THREATENED TO HIT ME AND THROW ME OUT OF HIS OFFICE!!! The O'Reilly's representative heard the entire verbal assault and is a direct, unbiased witness to his dangerous behavior. Out of fear of being physically assaulted, I immediately got out of his office and was about to call the police when the O'Reilly's delivery vehicle showed up. At this point I was very tired and shaken so just paid and left immediately after the car was ready for me. I have since called the police to document this horrifying incident. The owner of this business is not only dishonest and unprofessional, but he is also a physical threat to his customers.
