Small, clean, and spacious municipal park…read more The little burg of Buda has dedicated and developed a nice and functional space for positive activities at one end of its Main St. The park has plenty of space for all sorts of activities If you're the sporty, there's a pavilion-covered and lighted basketball court. Also, there are sand volleyball courts. The kids can play on the recycled parts made playground or splash around on the splash pad in the summer. The bathrooms are clean, and drinking water is available On this recent trip up to Buda we were audience to the a free summer show. The Central Texas Theater Academy put on a fantastic rendition of Grease in the amphitheater of the park's Great Lawn. Now I will remind you that it's still hot during the Texas summer, but as the sun broke and sunsetted, a breeze passes through, the park grounds become better than bearable and all sorts of life and activity congregate. The city park in Buda is a wonderful place to enjoy your end of day with family and friends. Recommend.

I went there this past weekend for the Buda city dachshund races. It was wonderful. The Lions club…read moredid a fantastic job organizing this. Soooo many beautiful dogs. There were 20 races for the dachshunds. I must have seen about 200 dachshunds and 100 other breeds. So cute to watch. There were many vendors. I bought 5 new dachshund t shirts. They had a great cookie vendor as well. There were three different cook offs- chicken , ribs, and brisket. We were bussed from Cabella's. The buses came really often so we didn't wait long. This was a fantastic weekend. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make it run smoothly. I will be back next year to watch!

This recreational center just recently reopened in 2022 after an extensive remodel. This center is…read moresandwiched between Overton elementary school and Colony Park (see separate review of the park). The center boasts of some very nice amenities such as a workout room, teen room, spacious kitchen, arts and crafts room, and a multipurpose room. This center is open to the general public without fees although you may need to sign a waiver if you use the facilities. On Fridays, they have bingo for seniors, and even a free breakfast. The bathrooms are very clean and modern. They have an indoor basketball court facility, which is very well designed. The elementary school next-door makes good use of this basketball gymnasium area. They even have a covered outdoor basketball court behind the building. They also have an afterschool program for three surrounding schools which involves a hot meal. There is another building next-door, which is another gymnasium with a small kitchen. Behind the smaller building is a wonderfully designed and extensive playground with covered picnic tables, baseball field, and soccer field. It should be pointed out that unlike some other recreational centers, there are no homeless camps within its boundaries. This is definitely one of the nicest recreational centers within the city limits of Austin. Check out the photos below, and read my review of Colony Park, which adds the finishing touches.
