Stopped at Stein for some tastings. Cool spot. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good bourbon. All locally grown and made.

Started with a beer and a cocktail called the "French Pig" and ordered the Pig Wings and Onion Chips. The French Pig is a bit on the sweet side for our liking. The pig wings were braised then finished with a tasty sweet and peppery sauce. The order came with just two wings (three would have been better for $17) but, they were delicious. The onion chips were perfectly battered, crunchy, and tasty but not greasy. Service was great (although we were pretty much the only party there) and the décor was a tasteful pig motif. All in all it was a very pleasant experience, I would recommend a few more pork related items on the menu (pork rinds for example?). We will return.

We found the staff here very friendly. It's just your standard dive bar but there was no lotto at the time we were there, but they're trying to sell so it may be back eventually. We didn't care as we were more interested in poutine fries and cold beer. They have a couple couches here too so we decided to sit there. Glad we did because we were able to chat with locals who joined us (who also happened to know relatives of mine who grew up there). The food was good and I liked that it was a little different than what I usually see here in Portland. We decided to return another day for dinner because I needed to try the lobster mac n cheese melt. Yep, it was as good as it sounds! We sat at a table then and there were lots of locals at that time who were super friendly. This was a nice spot to get to chat with new people and enjoy just some solid food and drinks.

The only thing I did not care for is they had a disco ball in the middle of the bar area that was very distracting and made it hard to watch the sports on tv or enjoy who you were with. I said I can't drink it and opted for a margarita. Have no idea how u can screw up a margarita but it was not drinkable either. No sweetness. Just unlike any other I've ever had. Left that full as well. The charcuterie board app was great. But expensive. The other food was super mediocre. Just felt like it was middle of the line out of the freezer. Cute presentation. Very underwhelming. I can honestly say they're the most unenjoyable cocktails I've ever had. Our server acted like she couldn't care less if we were happy, or satisfied. She knew I sent the first drink back, saw the 2nd left full and didn't ask a single ? The whole experience was very lacking. Skip this place.

Server was excellent, very accommodating and considerate. They specialize in craft cocktails also. I had a Wallowa Riff, a tuned up Manhattan. Best Manhattan I have ever had. If you are anywhere near La Grande Oregon, you must stop there for dinner.
