An Unexpected Gem in Baker City! I don't often write reviews, but The Cabyn Cocktail Bar & Kitchen absolutely deserves one. From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and beautifully curated interior hinted that this was going to be more than just a typical dining experience -- and it absolutely delivered. I ordered the beef rib and the watermelon salad, and both were truly outstanding. The beef rib was enormous and unbelievably tender, with a depth of flavor I've never experienced before -- rich, smoky, and finished with a vibrant chimichurri that brought it all together. It's hands-down the most flavorful beef rib I've ever had. The watermelon salad was the perfect contrast -- refreshing and bright with juicy chunks of watermelon, crisp cucumber, peppery arugula, and creamy goat cheese, accented by a subtle hint of mint. It was beautifully balanced and could honestly stand on its own as a main course on a hot day. Even though I'm not usually a drinker, the cocktail menu was too tempting to resist. I tried one of their house creations, and it was not only expertly crafted but also a visual treat. Watching the bartender at work was like watching a live performance -- precise, confident, and completely in the zone. She was incredible, and it's clear that this team takes great pride in what they do. It's worth noting that The Cabyn is run by a husband-and-wife team, which adds a wonderful personal touch to the experience. There's an energy in the room that only comes from people who genuinely care about what they're building. The prices were more than reasonable for the quality, and the vibe -- cozy, eclectic, and relaxed -- makes you want to linger just a little longer. If you're anywhere near Baker City, do yourself a favor and stop by The Cabyn. It's more than a meal -- it's an experience. I'll absolutely be back.

I didn't feel pushed to buy anything, or rushed to see the store or checkout. I kept going around and around and gathering items and dropping them back off to the checkout counter. A very chill employee helped me roughly the first hour I was there, and then Beverly, the shop owner assisted me the remaining 1 hour I spent there. This store exceeded my expectations tenfold. I would turn a corner and there would be more exotic things. The refrigerated alcohol section had this delicious meade or ale. Viking something, perhaps... An eclectic variety of specialty items all around! A unique store with tools and gadgets imported from other countries. You name it, kitchen-wise, and it's likely there! I think I saw a Shakshukka seasoning blend and thought that was wild! That's my signature dish and I've seen the sauce in a jar but not the jar of spices! Just a lovely feel to the store. Positive vibes for sure! At the end of my experience, I told Bella I wish I could ave found an Oregon related patch, perhaps even Baker City, so that I could iron on to a denim jacket I was working on at home! And she said she had one somewhere but couldn't find it. And asked me to leave behind my contact info in case she ever did. Well, 6 months later she contacted me and I was overjoyed to hear from her. She said she'd found the patch and needed my address for it to be sent out. This lady's kindness was next level. I must say, it is one of my top if not FAVE patch on my jacket. Thank you Bella and your wonderful staff, in patiently assisting me. If I ever pass through Baker City again, I'll be sure to stop by your store each and every time. You found a customer for life! :)

The person who answered the phone took the information and told me the GM would call me back. I thought this was a little unusual but ok. About a half of an hour later this same person called back and said he had a question. Wanted to know if we lived in Baker and I told him no, 4 would be traveling from Pendleton and 3 from Union, he hesitated and I felt I needed to explain that this dinner was a birthday celebration, no cake or anything else just dinner. He said ok and then wanted to know if we needed a private room. I answered his question, he then said he would give this information to the GM and this person would call me back. This is Sunday morning and I have not received a phone call. What happened to when someone calls to make a reservation you just get their information and make a reservation? In all my years of taking or making reservations have I ever asked or have been asked if I reside where the restaurant is. So disappointed with the Gyser Grand. I am updating this. This is Monday and still no return phone call. I would never recommend this place as they can't even make a simple reservation.

Left that full as well. The charcuterie board app was great. But expensive. The other food was super mediocre. Just felt like it was middle of the line out of the freezer. Cute presentation. Very underwhelming. I can honestly say they're the most unenjoyable cocktails I've ever had. Our server acted like she couldn't care less if we were happy, or satisfied. She knew I sent the first drink back, saw the 2nd left full and didn't ask a single ? The whole experience was very lacking. Skip this place.

The Sirloin with 2 sides is only around $13 compared with almost double that on the dinner menu. Good specials on drinks too. Summer took great care of me. She's excellent. Even though baked potatoes aren't supposed to be ready that early she got me one. I got the lunch rib plate, which is a huge beef rib (although a little smaller than it used to be). It was mostly meat and not much fat. Way too much for me to eat, it provided lunch the next day as well. I brought home a burger to my wife, which was also cooked perfectly. It's a fun old-fashioned place to go to. Lots of animal heads on the walls and cowboy type things. This is in the old Sizzler right off the freeway and just into Oregon. They are owned by the same people as Indian Creek steak in Caldwell. I just can't justify spending the money on a previous Sizzler environment. It's not fit for a "quick lunch" type of place. My opinion is that it just feels like they're struggling so they need to charge high to cover losses. I'd suggest building more menu items, at smaller portions to suit more palates and needs. Like maybe lunch specials. I know prices everywhere are just high in general, and eating out nowadays is a luxury, and I totally get they need to cover their costs as well, but sometimes you're willing to spend it when the environment is lovely and the food is great. This restaurant was not a place that I was pleased in spending this much for lunch. Most reasonable priced item was a nearly $20 burger that was definitely not worth the money. The fries are fresh cut but are just not great - flimsy fries do not excite me. The lunch menu selection in general is dismal. I just kept looking at the menu, hoping something would entice me but it's really just a steak or a burger option. Or chicken strips. Not many options, not many price points. The interior is a little sad too. It just doesn't feel like a nice place. I pulled up and assumed they were closed. The door that faces where you pull up is a closed side door, so you gotta walk around a smidge. Just wasn't inviting. The service was excellent and friendly and attentive. The servers and service are keeping it all together for sure.
