This is a great place in Oxford to enjoy a taste of German style beers. Their food is great. Love the atmosphere . Located in a Main St basement. Parking on the street. Staff was real good.

    Bierwurst and cheddar wurst

Service was amazing, we were undecided on which beer, so we got samples. We split the wurst plate which was plenty for both of us. Such a cute place in the "basement". Highly recommend.

This is a very German restaurant. It's in a basement of a building. The food was very good, even though the atmosphere is in the basement with no windows. Perfect place to go to if the weather is bad but would've been nice to be in a beer garden on a warm day.

We had such a great dinner here on a Wednesday evening! After being on campus all day, being seated instantly when we walked in was very nice, even though the restaurant was pretty busy. All of us had one of their German beers, a dunkel and two Kölsch's, which were obviously great. For appetizers we ordered the pretzel and potato pancakes. Both were amazing!! I could come back and just make a meal out of either of these options. For a main, I got the wurst platter. I wish my server would've known more about the different types of sausage I could choose from. Even as someone who has lived in Germany, I didn't recognize the names and when I asked more about them, my server simply shrugged and said they were "sausages." this was a little off-putting but didn't ruin my meal. I tried a mett and the bierwurst and ended up really liking the mett. The potato salad on that plate was also very good, and the red cabbage and sauerkraut are great if you're looking for something super Bavarian. Overall we ate ourselves full that evening and would definitely come back next time we're in the area!

So, the server's name is Gina...i heard it wrong. She is still awesome and the food, beer and service was the best ever!!

Holsteiner Schnitzel and Two Wurst Platter

Schnitzel and Spaetzle were delicious. I wish my egg was cooked a little longer. Beer was great! Service was great! I was not impressed with the pretzel that came with the Platter. Seems like a frozen pretzel. Surprised it wasn't a better quality pretzel like a mini version of the pretzel appetizer.

Wursts, pretzels, spaetzel, the exceptional Keller salad and a terrific black beer.

The food and drinks at the Steinkeller are always top-notch and reasonably priced. I love wursts so I typically get the Double Wurst Platter and my partner gets a spaetzle. The pretzels are pretty perfect and the beer selection is appropriately huge. Not a fan of their particular German potato salad, but that's no big deal compared to the rest of the food (sauerkraut balls!!). Casual dining and if Gina is your server, buckle up

Good times at Steinkeller and although not perfectly authentic German it's the best in the area. It's a huge Miami University hang. Likely due to the 40 oz steins of beers, incredible portions of food and their beloved pretzels. The restaurant is located uptown Oxford off the main drag on the basement. The location makes it an interesting experience. There is good signage to find them if walking. However if driving you cannot see the sign. My family attended on Thursday schnitzel night. They have a variety of the traditional German dish. Service at the hostess station was professional as we were put on wait. With a wait we headed to the bar for an Octoberfest brew that was great! Service was friendly. We also ordered a pretzel that was recommended by the bartender. Our wait was short and we were seated in a booth with menus. Our waiter was attentive to getting drinks. There was a lot to review, but ultimately we found that the focus was on schnitzel. Our waiter returned with the pretzel and two schnitzels and a pulled pork was ordered. The pretzel came hot with cheese and spicy mustard. So dang yummy! Our orders came out within 20 minutes and delivered by a runner. Water refills were performed shortly after. Everyone enjoyed what they had. My dish was a breakfast pork schnitzel. The egg over easy on the top was perfect! It was good, not great. Our waiter checked in again. Our bill was closed timely and the price affordable for a large amount of food. Service was a 5. Atmosphere 4 Food 3. That's a strong 4. I would return.

Food was tasty and fairly representative of Germany. Poor service, never offered my drink refill, even after hand up in air numerous times

We went for brunch and I got the chickenzilla. It was good but definitely needed a sauce with it. My mom and sister both got the chicken and waffles and loved the hot honey syrup for it. The service was good. It was steady business while we were there.

Fried Pork over hash browns, sausage gravy, and eggs. Chicken and waffle. Sausage dish w/ potato pancake and poached egg.

First visit to Steinkellers for Sunday Brunch. Was a cool place. German atmosphere, super service, and a delicious German brunch.

Yum!! The chicken Spaetzle was comforting and very filling. I could only eat half of it. The pretzel was yummy and the hungover fries were gluttonous.

    Do they take reservations?

I'm not sure. It might be a first come first serve business, but the place is rather large. If you have a large party, i would definitely call to see if they can accommodate it.

We were in Indiana visiting family and wanted to eat here because one of our favorite YouTubers had…read moredone the challenge. We came in the middle of the afternoon and it was empty. The server seemed dazed and confused. We asked him questions but he didn't seem to know anything. We absolutely love German food so we were excited. However, this wasn't really German food. First, how does a German restaurant not have German beer on tap? Then I ordered the schnitzel. It wasn't pounded out correctly and was too thick to be considered schnitzel. The breading had no seasoning. My husband (vegetarian) ordered the veggie melt, which was on the menu, but he was told they no longer make it. He ended up getting a "sides plate." When it arrived, there were 4 of the smallest portions of sides ever. Why not just make spaetzel a main dish? Voila, you have a vegetarian option! My daughter ended up getting a pretzel because the spaetzel she wanted had too many other ingredients in it for her liking. That's on us not the restaurant. Overall, as German restaurant connoisseurs, we were disappointed.

But ultimately, it's just okay. Service was fast (perhaps too fast) and friendly. But our dishes were just okay. We didn't have a bad experience, but it's not a must dine, to say the least.
