We went out to eat Christmas Eve. We had a reservation, but we still waited at least 20 minutes. Once we were finally seated, we waited two hours with no entrées. Every other table in our section that was seated up to a half hour after us received their food before us. The manager came over to our table to see how we were doing 10 minutes after we were seated. At that time we were doing fine but when we were having issues, she was nowhere to be found, and when we would see her, she would avoid eye contact. We had our entrées and dessert wrap to go because we were tired of endlessly waiting. This was a ridiculously frustrating event. I will never ever go out to eat on a holiday again, especially NOT Stella's. We went out to eat for thanksgiving giving. We had the same experience at the snapper inn. I lost the bet that lightning wouldn't strike twice. It's unreal! My apologies to my family. I'll never do this to you guys again. read more

Mediocre Italian food. We came for lunch and sat in the outdoor patio. The indoor dining room is beautiful and way more formal than the cuisine they serve. We enjoyed the lobster ravioli and eggplant rollatini for apps. I ordered the veal Sorrentino which was awful. They drenched the whole thing in a glaze making it soggy. Service was slow which was surprising since no one was there. Prices were great as the portions were on the larger side of normal. *Price Fixe Menu Review- Price Fixe is something I'm always interested in because I'm able to try a variety of dishes for a great price. I thought the food here was just ok, it lacked flavor. The service was painfully slow. Thought the decor was nice but overall ambiance of the restaurant was definitely an older crowd, much older (Old Fart Bar). Location shouldn't be an issue, large parking lot. Prices were great for the PF menu. $30 gets you an App, Dinner & Dessert. As for the portion sizes, they definitely didn't skimp out during the starters and entrees but the desserts were on the small side. The Service was slow and didn't impress me in the slightest. When I was being taken to my table, I watched waitstaff eat behind the pizza counter (can't be hygienic). At points of my meal I overheard waitstaff arguing with each other behind that same pizza counter and hallway which was incredibly unprofessional in my opinion. I had to ask each and every time I needed a refill even though our waitress passed by multiple times seeing we needed drinks. Ticket times were unnecessarily long. There must have been 4 tables full the entire time I was there, why did it take the kitchen so long to bring out the food? As for the Food...it was good but nothing that blew me out of the water. I wasn't impressed by anything but the portion sizes. Everything I had was just ok. With so many Italian restaurants on the Island, I'm not desperate. I don't need to eat at a mediocre place. I will be reviewing what I tried: -Complimentary Rolls with Herb Butter, took so long for the rolls to come out, we received our appetizers first. The rolls didn't seem homemade as I watched our waitress take them out of a bakery bag and load them into the pizza oven. -Fried Calamari App: Huge plate of squid. My favorite dish here. The calamari weren't fishy and the breading was great. I would definitely recommend this. 4.5 out of 5 stars -Caesar Salad App: Didn't impress me. Boring, standard. 2.5 out of 5 stars -Baked Clams Oreganata: 6 nicely sized clams, with lots of clam chunks inside. The bread crumbs and lemon sauce had a nice taste. 4.5 out of 5 stars -Soup of the day (Shrimp Bisque): Tasted like a basic seafood Bisque, nothing special. Did come in a large bowl. 3.5 out of 5 stars -Veal Marsala: Wasn't a fan. This was not good. The veal was on the dry side because they cut the cutlets into small medallion like pieces. The sauce was not my thing, it was incredibly watery and lacked flavor. The linguini was boring and didn't taste homemade. Overall disappointed with this Entree. 1.5 out of 5 stars -Penne Alla Vodka: Again boring. Everything here is a taste you can get anywhere, nothing stood out. Huge Portion but the vodka sauce wasn't what I hoped it would be. It lacked flavor, lacked seasoning. 3 out of 5 stars -Chicken Cutlet Parm: Not great. The Sauce was tasty but the breading from the chicken was almost sliding off and the cutlets were dry. 2.5 out of 5 stars -Chocolate Mousse Cake: Wasn't the best Mousse I've ever had but it was ok. The cake was moist. Portion was a small slice. 3.5 out of 5 stars -Creme Brûlée Cake: Thought this wasn't overly sweet and had a nice taste. I would get this again. Portion was small. 4.5 out of 5 stars So overall I just wasn't overly impressed with this place. The decor is cute but the demographic isn't inviting for younger customers. Summer 2018: This is a beautiful place. We ate on the patio as the indoor bar and seating area was cold, AC situation. It was nice weather that night. The wait service was not very good. We waited too long to have our order taken. It wasn't a kitchen problem as after the four of us gave our selection the food was served in a reasonable time considering preparation involved. And the dishes were well presented. I had the Stella Shrimp. I highly recommend this dish. My son had his favorite dish, pasta with scongeli. December 2019: The place is beautifully decorated for the holidays. We were a party of 7 adults and one nine year old. We each ordered something different. See photos. We were seated in one of the smaller rooms which we enjoyed for its intimacy and comfort. Th wait server was friendly however after taking the drink order and delivering it, it was a long while before the food order was delivered. The antipasti was nicely presented. The salad was very good. The bread as warm, fresh and very good. The nine year old had an individual pizza. We each enjoyed our main course. All would give it a five. Usually during LI Restaurant week my husband and I like to try new places. Nice opportunity and a good deal. We were looking forward to dining at Stella Trattoria because of the reviews and selections on the menu. To start we ordered the calamari and the baked clams. The marinara sauce was like tomato paste and the clams had too much bread crumbs. My husband chose the SEAFOOD LOVERS PLATTER (ADD $10), which was ok., generous portion but not out of this world experience. I chose the RIBEYE STEAK (ADD $7) which was overcooked and dry. The gorgonzola topping was overwhelming and not a good combination. I probably had two bites of the steak and couldn't any more. I ask the server to take it away and mentioned that it was not to my liking. He said ok,. Period. Did not offer to get me something else, or apologize (although it was not his fault), that it was not prepared properly. When he brought over the bill he said he couldn't take the steak off the bill because his manager was not there. are you kidding me??!! Have the nerve to charge extra $7 for this entree and Not even offer a coffee, something, anything!! I will NOT be dining here ever again and I do NOT recommend this establishment either. read more

Saturday night, reservations made 3 weeks in advance for outdoor seating. As the date approached, the weather was calling for humidity and thunderstorms with rain. We were celebrating more than one occasion within our party and I wanted it to be comfortable. I called again, and asked if there was availability indoors in the AC. First we were offered to sit in the outdoor tent and then a "great" table was suddenly offered inside. I accepted. We were early for our reserved time and were told we could be seated right away because "that table was free all night." We found out why... The restaurant is beautiful. Upon entering, there were 3 very young girls behind the hostess desk. They were nice but it was confusing. We were led to table #91 next to a fireplace and a pair of French doors leading out to the outdoor tent. The waitress (another very young girl), did not come over for a long time. We had time to admire the room. When she did come over, we ordered drinks and appetizers at the same time. Drinks and bread came and then 45 minutes went by. Good thing we were in good company. I had to flag her down and ask what was going on. She apologized and said she'd go check. The fried calamari app came out luke warm. The clams were good. We ordered entrees. As we were waiting for them, the French doors next to the table became the entry and exit for all people going in and out of the outdoor tent. The AC became non existent. My 80 year old mother's chair was being bumped into constantly and the door was just open to chaos. It ruined the ambiance of the whole meal. I kindly said something to the waiters going in and out and they gave me an attitude. One young guy in particular didnt care at all and left the door open on purpose. At that point, I got up every time to close it. The entrees arrived at different times. We tried to be polite and wait for the rest to show up but they were getting cold. So we were all eating separately. The entrees were ok. Except for the traditional pizza ordered by one of the children. It was the last to arrive. It was burnt, hard and inedible. The chicken parmigiana was enough for 3 people. The shrimp francese had a weird consistency but it was hot and flavorful. There were no drink refills. No one took our dirty appetizer plates. We had to beg for water. And the waitress was unavailable. The cheese and extra utensil we asked for came as we were almost done. When it was time for dessert, we ordered a rainbow cheesecake for the kids to share and the waitress brought over a "tray" of desserts on the house, to make up for the door they KNEW they were sitting us next to. It was a nice gesture but too little too late. The desserts were ok. I asked for a check before she disappeared again and knew there would be an extra charge for using a credit card on it. Not because it was posted somewhere, but because I read other reviews. We brought cash and instead of having it removed we gave it to the waitress. 2 stars for the food. 1 extra star for Nancy who was extremely pleasant on the phone when making reservations. She should school the youngins on customer service. It's a shame. The place is beautiful. The food is plentiful, but not amazing. The service was horrid. Then my husband asked where dinner was and our server said it was a busy evening. It's a restaurant on a Saturday night at limited capacity. I've worked in this industry, know your business. Then we waited an additional 25 minutes. It was absurd. Literally JUST as I was getting up to find a manager and complain our dinners were delivered. They were hot, which is the best thing I can say. The food was just ok. I had the chicken Sophia which needed some cheese or something. If you aren't going to come and offer it immediately it should be on the table. I asked another bus person for cheese and an additional coke for my daughter, since our server didn't make it to our table to check if everything was ok until we were halfway through. The penna ala vodka my daughter ordered was unusually flavored and she didn't care for it. My husbands meatball and pasta with ricotta was good. Again the woman who bussed our table was excellent and wrapped our leftovers quickly. The creme brûlée cheesecake, was cheesecake. It was good but nothing special. My daughter had the orange Rippieno which she enjoyed. It won't be on my regular rotation, the wait was absurd. And on the way out I looked, thinking maybe it had some big thing going on that might explain the delay and nope. Rather than offering an excuse our server should have actually checked the status and given us an update. This was one of the most pleasantly surprising experiences my group of four has had in awhile. Comfortable, quiet decor. Tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the music selections, soft rock versions of hits from the 70s through the 90s, but not just the songs you'd expect. Billy Idol and The Divinyls never sounded so chill. As for the food, 3/4 of us chose from the Restaurant Week menu and were overwhelmed by both the quality and quantity of the food. The calamari was perfectly breaded and fried, plus no tentacles which I know a lot of people don't like. I had chicken parmigiana which was two large pieces, either of which would have been sufficient on its own. I won't speak to everyone else's orders but they were as happy as I was. The service was extremely pleasant and balanced perfectly between taking care of us without hovering. We attempted to go there for a bite and drink Christmas Eve as we didn't have any family plans going on and we have been repeat customers to this restaurant. I called before we went just to be sure the restaurant and kitchen were open, and the girl who answered the phone stated they were open till 10 (the bar and kitchen) we got there and had a seat at the bar which was empty, the bartender asked if we had reservations which we did not so he said the only option is a $90 pre fix menu which we said ok not that hungry but we will order one to split. Bartender then came back and said we cannot split, so we decide to leave. The bar was EMPTY the restaurant was EMPTY just really off putting we would of have had bought an expensive bottle of wine and shared the food but was completely turned off. We had linguine carbonara, beets salad, calamari and a few more thing - everything was so good. So we decided to come back again. However this time around, our experience was less than mediocre. We sat at the bar area, which was pretty empty to start with. The bartender who was supposed to take our order was too busy chatting with a couple at the bar (the only other guests) so he took good 20 minutes to take our order. No acknowledgement, water or bread basket. Great job! Another couple arrived thereafter and waited same long for the menu too. Then we ordered a few things: margarita pizza, linguine carbonara (which was impeccable last time) and a chicken main course. Our pizza took 30 minutes and came after the main course, it had no basil and had a bunch of super thick cut tomatoes slapped on it. Plain tasteless dough. By far the worst pizza I've had in my entire life. Chicken Marsala was 2 out of 5. The server never came to check on our food or refilled our waters. At the end when it was time to pay he asked how our food was, to which we said - not so great. He said he was surprised "they forgot to put basil on it, which it usually comes with". Well if you came by when our food arrived which is a standard restaurant/bar practice, you would have had the chance to make it somewhat right. Not coming back. We had a great time at Stella. Delicious food, great cocktails, and a really nice interior. First impressions, the building is very well kept - looks huge. I imagine having a larger event or party there would be amazing. We walked in at around 9:15 on a Wednesday night and were greeted with an awkward "let me check something" (to see if they were still going to seat us, even though they're open until 11). Our waitress was super friendly and upbeat. I wish I could remember her name to give her a friendly mention. They're still pretty new, but it was difficult to choose a cocktail off the top of my head. They didn't have any signature cocktails or anything so we ordered a lemon drop martini - which was awesome. Grey goose citrus, fresh lemon juice and the only sweetness came from the sugar rim. Love. We ordered a few different things including the Stella potatoes which were SO. DELICIOUS. Glorified potato chips with a little kick and a ton of basil. Amazing. Our pizzas were tasty - dough was a little bit bland, but I'll forgive it since the toppings were really excellent. Dessert tiramisu might've been restaurant depot or something with store bought raspberry and vanilla sauces, but again, I forgive. It was a great experience and I'd definitely visit again. This has to be one of the worst restaurant experiences my family and I have ever had. For starters, one of us bit into the bread and found himself chewing on a rubber band...disgusting. We ordered a bottle of wine, which didn't come until we finished our appetizers and were halfway through our entrees, and had to cancel our other drink orders because they never came by the time we finished eating our meals. Given businesses are just starting to open up again, we attempted to look past all of this, but wanted to at least speak to the manager about our unpleasant experience. After asking to speak with her twice, she finally came around to our table. At first, she pretended to not even know about the rubber band. Then when we brought it up, she acknowledged that she heard about it, but did not apologize for anything and refused to compensate us for our overall unpleasant experience. At one point, she turned to another member of my family to "help her out" to subdue our other family member's complaint, which just confused us. What did she expect us to say?!?! The restaurant itself is beautiful and I thought it would be a great place for my event, however, the manager was not pleasant to work with and conducted business in a poor manner. In addition to the $45 per person menu the manager wanted to charge an additional $8 per person for soda! Not beer, not wine..... just soda. I called back a few days later to price out a slightly less expensive menu and when I asked if she could send me the total price for my group she rudely stated that she could only give me the total price for the party if I signed a contract with her. How can one sign a contract when the restaurant manager refuses to give a total price? Will never visit this establishment again. Rude management.
